Robotic Insects To Be Used In Warfare In Less Than Six Months
Scientists continue to blur the lines between reality and fiction by introducing concepts straight out of Hollywood into the theater of warfare. Ripped from the pages of a Philip K. Dick novel, the robotic insects from Minority Report have been developed by “British defense giant” BAE System as militarized devices set to be introduced into Iraq and Afghanistan to aid soldiers as electronic eyes and ears. The miniature robots will be used for surveying potentially dangerous areas and relaying positions ahead of the platoons. Images can be relayed back to hand held devices or wrist-mounted computers used by soldiers giving them a distinctive artificial advantage.
The defense company has just been commissioned by the US Army and British defenses to develop weapons for them. Already perfected are crawling insect-bots; still in development are flying, slinking and slithering devices that are expected to be deployed as early as six months from now and the mechanized devices will be developed for a relatively low amount of funding.
