Free Joins Staff of Power 105.1
Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM), New York’s R&B, Hip Hop and Back in the Day Joints, is pleased to announce that FREE has joined the station as co-host of The Ed Lover Morning Show on Power 105.1. Her first day on the air with Ed will be Tuesday, October 14th. The show airs weekdays from 6-10am. The announcement was made today by Cadillac Jack, Power 105.1 Program Director/Operations Manager Clear Channel Boston.
Cadillac stated: “Like Ed, Free is synonymous with hip hop culture and has hosted one of the most reputable music programs of all time. With a large fan base already established here in NYC, we are confident many listeners will welcome her with open arms.”
FREE began her journey in the arts as a child in Boston, MA. She attended the Roxbury Center for Performing Arts for 11 years and traveled and toured as part of an exclusive young dance troupe. Inspired by hometown group New Edition, she also was a part of a few groups in Boston performing and winning talent shows while honing her singing and rap skills. She made career moves between LA and New York in an effort to build the structure of her calling.
Fate led her to a casting held by BET International, where executives unanimously chose her as one of the original co-hosts for their signature show based in NYC “106 & Park Top 10 Live.” She co-hosted the award winning BET ratings powerhouse for five years. In 2006, she produced and hosted her own afternoon show in LA called “Freesworld” before moving back to the East Coast. Free is the Founder of Free4Life Foundation in Boston and WorldBeFree, a production company.
Free stated: “I have always wanted to be on NY Radio and thankful for the opportunity to wake up listeners on The Ed Lover Show on Power 105.1. I look forward to joining Ed daily and being the voice of news and entertainment for all listeners in the tri-state area on-air and on-line.”
Ed Lover stated: “I’m very excited to have FREE as my co-host on the morning show. Her beauty, intelligence and excitement will be a great addition to NYC Radio and will take the show to the next level.”
Power 105.1 has been serving the tri-state area since March 2002 and reaches over 3.5 million listeners weekly. (September 2008 PPM#) For up-to-minute information, listen to Power 105.1 or log on to www.power1051fm.com
