21 States Declaring Sovereignty?

NEW YORK – As the Obama administration attempts to push through Congress a nearly $1 trillion deficit spending plan, a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.

So far, eight states have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, including Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Analysts expect that in addition, another 20 states may see similar measures introduced this year, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.

“What we are trying to do is to get the U.S. Congress out of the state’s business,” Oklahoma Republican state Sen. Randy Brogdon told WND.
“Congress is completely out of line spending trillions of dollars over the last 10 years putting the nation into a debt crisis like we’ve never seen before,” Brogdon said, arguing that the Obama stimulus plan is the last straw taxing state patience in the brewing sovereignty dispute.

“This particular 111th Congress is the biggest bunch of over-reachers and underachievers we’ve ever had in Congress,” he said.
“A sixth-grader should realize you can’t borrow money to pay off your debt, and that is the Obama administration’s answer for a stimulus package,” he added.
The Ninth Amendment reads, “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

The Tenth Amendment specifically provides, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Read more…

Army Private Brandon Neely served as a prison guard at Guantánamo in the first years the facility was in operation. With the Bush Administration, and thus the threat of retaliation against him, now gone, Neely decided to step forward and tell his story. “The stuff I did and the stuff I saw was just wrong,” he told the Associated Press. Neely describes the arrival of detainees in full sensory-deprivation garb, he details their sexual abuse by medical personnel, torture by other medical personnel, brutal beatings out of frustration, fear, and retribution, the first hunger strike and its causes, torturous shackling, positional torture, interference with religious practices and beliefs, verbal abuse, restriction of recreation, the behavior of mentally ill detainees, an isolation regime that was put in place for child-detainees, and his conversations with prisoners David Hicks and Rhuhel Ahmed. It makes for fascinating reading.

Neely’s comprehensive account runs to roughly 15,000 words. It was compiled by law students at the University of California at Davis and can be accessed here. Three things struck me in reading through the account.

First, Neely and other guards had been trained to the U.S. military’s traditional application of the Geneva Convention rules. They were put under great pressure to get rough with the prisoners and to violate the standards they learned. This placed the prison guards under unjustifiable mental stress and anxiety, and, as any person familiar with the vast psychological literature in the area (think of the Stanford Prison Experiment, for instance) would have anticipated produced abuses. Neely discusses at some length the notion of IRF (initial reaction force), a technique devised to brutalize or physically beat a detainee under the pretense that he required being physically subdued. The IRF approach was devised to use a perceived legal loophole in the prohibition on torture. Neely’s testimony makes clear that IRF was understood by everyone, including the prison guards who applied it, as a subterfuge for beating and mistreating prisoners—and that it had nothing to do with the need to preserve discipline and order in the prison. Jay-Z Says, ‘We All Should Support Rihanna’

Jay-Z spoke out this weekend about the alleged altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna.

“It’s not a sound bite, this is a real situation,” Jay told reporters in Arizona. “If you can’t have compassion for others … just imagine it being your sister or your mom or someone like that, then think about how you should talk about that.

“I just think we all should just support her,” he continued. “She’s going through a tough time. You gotta realize she’s a young girl, as well. She’s very young.”

The rapper was formerly president and CEO of Island Def Jam Records, Rihanna’s label, and presided over her signing and early career. Rihanna, Young Jeezy, Ne-Yo and Rick Ross were among the artists who thrived during Jay’s stint as an executive at the label, which ended late in 2007.

Jay was in Arizona for his third annual “Two Kings” dinner, which he co-hosts with LeBron James, as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend. The event was attended by Kobe Bryant, Young Jeezy, Chris Tucker, Spike Lee, Michael Strahan, Grant Hill, Tamia and others.

Kanye West Says ‘Best Hip-Hop Beats Of All Time’ Will Be On Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3

Another Jay-Z song leaked online last month — that’s OK, just make some more. Kanye West says he’s just a handful of records away from finishing Jay’s The Blueprint 3, again.

“I finished his album and he released four songs that were potentially gonna be on the album,” West said last week on Sway and King Tech’s “Wake Up Show.” “So I gotta go back and do four. I just did one beat the other day in Hawaii — probably one of the best hip-hop beats of all time, if I do say so myself. I just gotta do three more beats and we’re done, ’cause he’s got classics. He’s got songs that are better than any of the things you’ve heard leaked.”

Two records that Kanye says should make B3‘s final cut are “Everyday a Star is Born” and “Forever Young.”

“You know what it was — every year I do two albums’ worth of really dope beats,” he explained. “This year, Common did his album with Pharrell, and I did 808s & Heartbreak and Blueprint 3. So just imagine the caliber of beats on the last two Common albums I did — Jay-Z has those types of beats. Those caliber of beats. A beat like ‘The People,’ that’s the highest caliber of beat.”

In 2009, at least one album’s worth of beats looks like it will be set aside for a Kanye LP. Read more…

Ex-Detroit Mayor Gets New Gig in Texas

It’s been a little over a week since former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was released from jail after serving 99 days for perjury, but he might have already landed a new gig. kwame-kilpatrick

A Texas affiliate of Compuware Corp., a Detroit-based company, is set to name Kilpatrick to a new post soon, reports The Detroit Free Press.

The announcement might have been in the works for months, though. According to Oakland County Executive, L. Brooks Patterson, back in October, Compuware Chairman Peter Karmanos told him he was going to make the job offer to Kilpatrick.

“I haven’t heard any details about what the job is. But I walked away from the conversations admiring Peter’s loyalty,” Patterson told the paper. “It wasn’t my place to question his decision.” While Kilpatrick’s specific duties were not revealed, it is clear that he will not have any contact with customers in Michigan.

Kilpatrick and his family moved to the wealthy, upper-class community of Southlake, Texas, where they are currently renting a 2,800-square-foot home. Kilpatrick resigned from office last year after the widely publicized “sex text” scandal revealed that he misled the Wayne County court about his extramarital affair with his then-Chief of Staff Christine Beatty.

He pled guilty to perjury and was sent to jail, and now faces five years’ of probation.

[Report]: Hundreds of Students Abused by Chicago Public School Staff

According to a report by Chicago TV station CBS 2, since 2003, out of the 818 reports of abuse, 568 were investigated and proven to be true.

One alleged victim, elementary school student Treveon Martin, says he was hit with a belt by a teacher. “He’s threatened almost all the kids in his classroom,” he said. “He holded my arms and he picked my body up, and then he just slammed me on the desk,” Martin said. treveonmartin

Across the system, other reports included accusations from some students saying they were beaten with broomsticks, yard sticks, and staplers. Others were allegedly pushed down stairs and one sub allegedly fractured a student’s neck, the station found. Corporal punishment is illegal in the state of Illinois.

The system’s former CEO Arne Duncan, who was recently appointed U.S. Secretary of Education, told the station he had zero tolerance for such acts.

“Any founded allegation where an adult is hitting a child, hitting a student – they’re going to be gone,” he said. However, of the 568 cases that were proven true, just 24 people were fired.

City Council Education Committee Alderman Pat O’Connor says the allegations were never brought to his committee until recently, but wants officials to take another look at the cases and how they were handled. Read more…

Kid Cudi Bugs Out and Gets Tasered and Locked Up at Reebok All-Star Event

Rapper Kid Cudi has been involved in an altercation that has resulted in the Cleveland native being tasered and apprehended by authorities, according to multiple sources.

Detail are sketchy, but the rapper apparently was involved in a fight or altercation while at the Reebok party in Phoenix, Arizona. Much of the music industry is in the city celebrating the NBA’s popular All-Star weekend.

Eyewitnesses stated that Kid Cudi physically and verbally confronted a pair of Reebok employees. The artist was booked by the apparel company to perform at the venue.

Sources said that Cudi wanted to wear Jordan sneakers on stage, a move that did not agree with the people of Reebok.

Authorities intervened after the confrontation escalated and Cudi was tasered, a move to control his behavior.

The rapper was presumed arrested by police, but actual charges have not been revealed.

A representative for Kid Cudi was not available at press time

Allen Iverson, a Reebok endorsed athlete, attended the party.

M.I.A. Gives Birth to Baby Boy

M.I.A. has given birth to a baby boy, a move ceremoniously announced by way of her MySpace blog.

M.I.A.’s baby missed his due date on Sunday, which allowed the eccentric entertainer to perform “Swagger Like Us” at the Sunday Grammys with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne. He eventually arrived on Wednesday.

The child’s father is fiance Benjamin Bronfman.

The boy, whose name wasn’t revealed, didn’t miss the mark by far. The singer/rapper went into labor about 2 am on Monday morning.

On her blog, M.I.A. humorously detailed her joy by writing:

“MY BABY WAS BORN WEDNESDAY , HE IS HEALTHY , FINE , BEAUTIFUL AND THE MOST AMZING THING EVER ON THIS PLANET, OF COURSE IM HIS MUM!!!

ME AND BABY ARE PUTTING OUR TOUR DATES FOR 2010 TOGETHER AND MAKING MIX TAPES AND FIGURING OUT A WAY TO BREAK OUT OF THE HOSPITAL !

HOPEFULLY THE WORLD IS BEEN TICKING ALONG AND I AINT MISSED MUCH!

6,000 Neo-Nazis Clash with Police in Germany

Feb. 14 (Bloomberg) — German anti-immigrant, skinhead and neo-Nazi groups in the eastern city of Dresden staged one of their biggest demonstrations since German reunification in 1990 today, as 6,000 extremists marched through the streets, police said.nazis

Groups tied to the National Democratic Party used the 64th anniversary of the 1945 firebombing of Dresden to hold a “mourning march” through the capital of the state of Saxony. Two counter-demonstrations, led by unions and political activists, drew almost 10,000, police spokesman Marko Laske said.

Black-clad youths gathered at the city’s main train station, waving black and black-white-and-red German nationalist flags as hundreds of police wearing body armor separated them from angry protesters, many of them screaming “Nazis out!”

“There’s nothing in Germany that could compare to the scale of this Nazi march,” said Robert Kusche, an activist with Kulturbuero Sachsen, which organized one of the counter- demonstrations.

For 10 years, anti-immigrant and skinhead groups have marked the anniversary of the bombing of Dresden in Allied air raids, which took place Feb. 13-15, 1945, at the end of World War II. Their aims have been bolstered since the NPD entered the Saxony state assembly in 2004.

“They’re trying to link the victims of Dresden with the victims of Auschwitz,” Hajo Funke, an expert on neo-Nazis at the Free University in Berlin, said in a phone interview. “They represent a call for reviving the German Reich, anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism.”

Marchers, many with clean-shaven heads or black hoods, carried signs referring to the bombing, one of which read “Dresden is the German Hiroshima.” Several young protestors declined to comment on why they were there.

“It’s horrible — I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Frank Samol, a 58-year-old Dresdner, as he watched the march go through the city center. “The right wing is exploiting this event to put on a big show.”

One of the marchers, a 55-year-old musician who identified himself only as Gerd, said he traveled from the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia to commemorate the 1945 bombing.

“What impresses me is that these young people are organizing themselves, that they have ideals,” Gerd said. Read more…

Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) — Donald Trump resigned from the board of Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., the debt-laden casino company he founded, ahead of a possible involuntary bankruptcy filing next week.

“I’m not managing it, it’s not me that’s responsible for managing,” Trump, who was chairman, said in a telephone interview today. “Unless we’re going to be responsible for management it’s just not something that’s worthwhile.”

Trump’s departure comes ahead of a Feb. 17 deadline to make a $53 million bond payment originally due on Dec. 1. The Atlantic City, New Jersey-based casino operator said at the time it needed to conserve cash and hold debt-restructuring talks with lenders. Since an initial grace period ended on Dec. 31, Trump Entertainment’s deadline has been extended four times.

The 62-year-old real estate entrepreneur has “no idea” whether there will be a bankruptcy filing, he said. Trump is “not thrilled” the company may continue to use his name.

Bondholders are planning to force Trump Entertainment into Chapter 11 bankruptcy early next week, the Wall Street Journal reported today, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.

Trump controls 28 percent of the stock, according to a March 21 regulatory filing. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, also resigned, according to an e-mailed statement.

“I strongly disagree with the bondholders’ decisions and actions,” Trump said in the statement without elaborating.

Tom Hickey, a spokesman for Trump Entertainment, and Chief Financial Officer John Burke didn’t return phone messages left after normal business hours.

‘It’s a Disaster’

In the interview, Trump cited the “disastrous” fates of Atlantic City’s Tropicana Casino Hotel and the under-construction but not fully funded Revel Entertainment LLC project. Read more…

picture-35 In an interview with PEOPLE, Rihanna‘s father, Ronald Fenty, said that when he first heard that his daughter had been attacked by Chris Brown, “I didn’t believe it.

“I know my daughter,” said Fenty, 55. As for Brown, he said, “You think you know somebody, but you really don’t.”

Brown, 19, allegedly attacked Rihanna, 20, in Los Angeles last Sunday. He was arrested and may face charges from the district attorney.

Describing Rihanna’s current condition after seeing her in Barbados on Friday, Fenty said, “There is some bruising. She will be alright. I think so.”

He adds, “At some point, she will speak out. I hope she will stand up for women all over the world.”

Fenty, a salesman and freelance clothing designer, said Rihanna is spending time with her girlfriends in Barbados while she heals. While Fenty said he wouldn’t tell his daughter what to do, he did say, “If it were me, I’d move on.”

The last time Fenty had seen Rihanna and Brown together was in July. “They seemed pretty happy,” he recalls. “I don’t know what went wrong.”

Blackwater Worldwide is abandoning its tarnished brand name as it tries to shake a reputation battered by oft-criticized work in Iraq, renaming its family of two dozen businesses under the name Xe.

The parent company’s new name is pronounced like the letter “z.” Blackwater Lodge & Training Center — the subsidiary that conducts much of the company’s overseas operations and domestic training — has been renamed U.S. Training Center Inc., the company said Friday.

The decision comes as part of an ongoing rebranding effort that grew more urgent following a September 2007 shooting in Iraq that left at least a dozen civilians dead. Blackwater president Gary Jackson said in a memo to employees the new name reflects the change in company focus away from the business of providing private security.

“The volume of changes over the past half-year have taken the company to an exciting place and we are now ready for two of the final, and most obvious changes,” Jackson said in the note.

In his memo, Jackson indicated the company was not interested in actively pursuing new private security contracts. Jackson and other Blackwater executives told The Associated Press last year it was shifting its focus away from such work to focus on training and providing logistics. Read more…

Ecstasy’s long-term effects revealed

THEY called it the second summer of love. Twenty years ago, young people all over the world donned T-shirts emblazoned with smiley faces and danced all night, fueled by a molecule called MDMA. Most of these clubbers have since given up ecstasy and are sliding into middle age. The question is, has ecstasy given up on them?

Enough time has finally elapsed to start asking if ecstasy damages health in the long term. According to the biggest review ever undertaken, it causes slight memory difficulties and mild depression, but these rarely translate into problems in the real world. While smaller studies show that some individuals have bigger problems, including weakened immunity and larger memory deficits, so far, for most people, ecstasy seems to be nowhere near as harmful over time as you may have been led to believe.

The review was carried out by the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD), an independent body that advises the UK government on drug policy. Its headline recommendation is that, based on its harmfulness to individuals and society, MDMA should be downgraded from a class A drug – on a par with heroin and cocaine – to class B, alongside cannabis.

Nobody is arguing that taking ecstasy is risk-free: its short-term effects are fairly uncontroversial. MDMA is toxic, though not powerfully so – an average person would need to take around 20 or 30 tablets to reach a lethal dose. And for a small fraction of people, even small amounts of ecstasy can kill. For example, around half a million people take ecstasy every year in England and Wales, and 30 die from the acute effects, mostly overheating or water intoxication.

What has been unclear, however, is whether ecstasy use causes long-term health problems and if so, how much you would need to take to be at risk. Read more…

The Mafia is known for macho figures like Don Corleone, played by Marlon Brando in 1972 movie The Godfather.

But Luigi Romolo Carrino, an expert on the Mob based in Italy, said: “There is a lot more homosexual activity than you think. It is very discreet.”

John “Johnny Boy” D’Amato was gunned down in New York in 1992 for being gay.

Hitman Anthony Capo said: “Nobody’s gonna respect us if we have a gay boss discussing La Cosa Nostra business.”

House OKs $787B Stimulus Bill with GOP Opposition

WASHINGTON (AP) – Handing the new administration a big win, House Democrats passed President Barack Obama’s $787 billion plan to resuscitate the economy on Friday despite a wall of Republican opposition.

The bill was approved 246-183 and sent to the Senate, where a vote was scheduled late Friday afternoon. That vote was to be held open for hours, waiting for Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown, who was attending a memorial service for his mother and then flying back to cast the deciding vote.

Senate passage would meet a deadline of sending the bill to Obama before a congressional recess begins next week. The 1,071 page, 8-inch-thick measure combines $281 billion in tax cuts for individuals and businesses with more than a half-trillion dollars in government spending.

The money would go for infrastructure, health care and help for cash-starved state governments, among scores of programs. Seniors would get a $250 bonus Social Security check. Told that no Republican backed the measure, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs reacted by citing another number: “3.5 million jobs that we look forward to saving or creating.”

Seven Democrats voted against the bill. Republicans said the package won’t work because it has too little in tax cuts and spreads too much money around to everyday projects like computer upgrades for federal agencies.

“This legislation falls woefully short,” said House GOP Leader John Boehner of Ohio. “With a price tag of more than $1 trillion when you factor in interest, it costs every family almost $10,000 in added debt. This is an act of generational theft that our children and grandchildren will be paying for far into the future.” Read more…

Apparently, another Harlem MC made a similar song called “Hate My Job” which is the same song and video that Cam’ron has reemerged with, roughly a week ago.  While his internet fanbase is applauding Cam for connecting with the “common” man and his hatred for his day-to-day, Nova is claiming outright theft, and he’s not sitting still either.  The 106 & Park freestyle champ has posted a video going at Cam’s neck for the jack-move.  Look at the video’s and listen to songs to compare for yourselves and tell us what you think.

Beginning Sunday, viewers across the nation can witness the origins of one of the year’s most anticipated movies, when Twentieth Century Fox debuts an exclusive, three-part reveal of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE on FOX.

For this unprecedented promotional event – which is too big for one night – the studio has created three special 60-second spots, one leading into the next, and which together form a narrative. It seems that even the mighty Dubai has taken a major hit and it will be awhile before they really reveal how much damage the country has suffered in this economic downturn.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Sofia, a 34-year-old Frenchwoman, moved here a year ago to take a job in advertising, so confident about Dubai’s fast-growing economy that she bought an apartment for almost $300,000 with a 15-year mortgage.

Now, like many of the foreign workers who make up 90 percent of the population here, she has been laid off and faces the prospect of being forced to leave this Persian Gulf city — or worse.

“I’m really scared of what could happen, because I bought property here,” said Sofia, who asked that her last name be withheld because she is still hunting for a new job. “If I can’t pay it off, I was told I could end up in debtors’ prison.”

With Dubai’s economy in free fall, newspapers have reported that more than 3,000 cars sit abandoned in the parking lot at the Dubai Airport, left by fleeing, debt-ridden foreigners (who could in fact be imprisoned if they failed to pay their bills). Some are said to have maxed-out credit cards inside and notes of apology taped to the windshield.

I guess I hit this one right on the head. Read below:

A SECOND teenage boy last night claimed HE—and NOT 13-year-old Alfie Patten—is the REAL dad of 15-year-old Chantelle Steadman’s newborn baby Maisie.

Richard Goodsell, aged 16, insisted he often shared a bed with Chantelle over a period of THREE MONTHS around the time she fell pregnant—and sensationally demanded a DNA test to PROVE he’s the daddy.

Young mum Chantelle and baby-faced 13-year-old Alfie Patten made headlines around the world this week when they told their story, vowing to be good parents to their six-day-old daughter.

But the News of the World can today reveal that as well as second maybe-dad Richard a THIRD lad, 14-year-old Tyler Barker, fears he may have fathered little Maisie.

And amazingly the News Of The World has uncovered claims that Chantelle was sleeping with as many as EIGHT teenage boys around the time the baby was conceived on the Old Town estate in Eastbourne, Sussex.

Richard, a trainee chef, said he had sex at least three times with Chantelle at her home, adding: “I KNOW I could be the father. Everyone thinks I am. My friends all tell me that baby has my eyes— even my mum thinks so.

“Only a DNA test is going to sort this out properly. If I am the father, I have the right to know.”

After seeing this I would like to draw a petition up for them to get a DNA test. Not buying this story until somebody proves to me this kid is not just shooting puppy water.

He wanted to be the first to hold Maisie after the hospital birth. He tenderly kisses the baby and gives her a bottle.

And Dennis, 45, said: “He could have shrugged his shoulders and sat at home on his Playstation. But he has been at the hospital every day.”

BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot.”

Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.

He told how he and Chantelle, 15, decided against an abortion after discovering she was pregnant.

The shy lad, whose voice has not yet broken, said: “I thought it would be good to have a baby.

“I didn’t think about how we would afford it. I don’t really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10.”

Poll: Most Want Inquiry into Bush Anti-Terror Tactics

WASHINGTON — Even as Americans struggle with two wars and an economy in tatters, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds majorities in favor of investigating some of the thorniest unfinished business from the Bush administration: Whether its tactics in the “war on terror” broke the law.

Close to two-thirds of those surveyed said there should be investigations into allegations that the Bush team used torture to interrogate terrorism suspects and its program of wiretapping U.S. citizens without getting warrants. Almost four in 10 favor criminal investigations and about a quarter want investigations without criminal charges. One-third said they want nothing to be done.

Even more people want action on alleged attempts by the Bush team to use the Justice Department for political purposes. Four in 10 favored a criminal probe, three in 10 an independent panel, and 25% neither. Read more…

Muslim investors profit by adhering to faith

As credit markets have imploded, triggering a global economic crisis, Islamically correct investors have seen a change of fortune: The conservative principles this small group of devout Muslims clung to during the economic heyday has insulated them from the worst of the past year’s suffering.

Their renunciation of the interest-based economy kept them away from investments in financial services companies, whose stocks have collapsed, and out of traditional mortgages.

“There was a time two or three years ago that Islamic finance was considered simply too conservative,” said Professor Ibrahim Warde, author of “Islamic Finance in the Global Economy” and an adjunct professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. “Right now, many people are recognizing that maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing.”

Dow Jones Islamic Market Indexes, which represent benchmarks for Islamically correct investment categories, have been outperforming their non-Islamically compliant counterparts by 3 to 4 percent in key indexes. The two Amana Income and Growth funds, the largest Islamic mutual funds in the country with $1.2 billion in combined assets, have been outperforming the S&P 500 in the past year by 13 and 7 percent, respectively. (Both Amana funds also outperform the S&P index on 5- and 10-year comparisons.)

Bay Area residents who bought homes through an Islamically compliant lender in San Jose, the Ameen Housing Cooperative, don’t have to worry whether their lender will work with them if they lose their jobs. Islamic lenders are required to work in good faith with distressed borrowers to figure out ways to make payments manageable – and co-op leaders say they will. Read more…

Consider the lowly penny — once proposed for scrapping — and consider how it’s about to be elevated in high honor of one of our greatest presidents.

On the occasion of President Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday today and the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent, the U.S. Mint will issue four new 1-cent coins.

The first will go into circulation today. The rest will be released in each calendar quarter throughout the year.

The heads side will bear Lincoln’s likeness. The tails side will have one of four designs depicting aspects of his life.
