Kimberly Jones, also known as the provocative, foul-mouthed rapper “Lil Kim,” has confirmed her plans to write a tell-all book about her prison experience.
Jones was found guilty of perjury after she lied about her former Junior M.A.F.I.A. group member and co-manager’s involvement in a 2001 shooting in Manhattan, New York, and was sentenced to a year and one day in prison. In 2005 Jones was sent to prison and was released in September 2006 after serving only 10 months, reports The Post Chronicle.
Jones explained “it?s about the time when I stayed in prison, the things I learned and went through. You don?t think about things until it happens to you. The book is going to give people who have been in those situations a bright outlook on life.?
The rapper said the book titled, “The Price of Loyalty,” is meant to provide inspiration to others, specifically those who are serving time in prison.
50 Cent x Blood on the Sand. There is no doubt that 50 has been flexing his publicity-machine muscle to promote his newest video game “Blood on the Sand.” He did in-store appearances, contests to play against others and tons of publicity. Many in the gaming industry saw it as a clear sign 50 was serious about expanding his empire into the gaming world.
Despite all the efforts, “Blood on the Sand” has sold so little that it already can be found in “dump-bins” across America. According to NPD which monitors game sales, “Blood on the Sand” has only sold 56,000 copies from when it launched in February. In comparison, 50’s first game “Bulletproof” sold over 681,000 copies during the same initial launch window, which is TWELVE times more than “Blood on the Sand.”
The “Blood on the Sand” results are so terrible that publisher THQ did not mention the game at all in their recent earnings reports. Insiders say THQ is blaming the economy and recession but others are pointing to 50 Cent’s waning popularity with gamers and the fact that “Blood on the Sand” was originally dumped by its original developer. Will these results scare off Jay-Z from moving forward with getting into the gaming industry?

Paramount Pictures had estimated that the movie would make about $50 million for the weekend, but figured that strong reviews helped carry it to the bigger opening.

It is thought that changes in the climate between 90,000 and 70,000 years ago caused sea levels to drop dramatically and allowed the crossing of the Red Sea to take place.
The findings are to be revealed in a new BBC Two documentary series, The Incredible Human Journey, that traces the prehistoric origins of the human species.

Homo sapiens, known casually as “modern humans”, are thought to have first evolved around 195,000 years ago in east Africa – the earliest remains from that time were uncovered near the Omo River in Ethiopia.
It is thought that by 150,000 years ago these early modern humans had managed to spread to other parts of Africa and fossilised remains have been found on the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
The search engine software will use GPS technology to compare the position of the phone user with existing maps of space, attaching name tags to the stars and planets that can be seen through the phone’s viewfinder.
The California-based internet company already offers a Google Sky facility that gives online browsers a map of space similar to its Google Earth and Google Street View services.

Despite being cleared of assaulting a fan at a 2005 concert, the man who sued rapper Snoop Dogg will still receive compensation for injuries suffered from the incident.
Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle Records, rapper Soopafly and other unnamed parties will pay Richard Monroe Jr. nearly $449,000 in damages, a jury found on Friday (May 8) after determining that Monroe suffered major injuries from the assault.
Soopafly (born Priest Brooks) was among those involved in the incident.
“We’re very pleased that the jury found that this incident was not something to be taken lightly,” Monroe’s attorney, Brian E. Watkins, said. Friday’s decision marks the end of two weeks of testimony surrounding Monroe’s 2006 lawsuit against Snoop Dogg (born Calvin Broadus). Read more…
An Arizona judge has ruled against the media’s usage of cameras during an upcoming trial for Lil Wayne, who faces multiple drug and weapons charges from an arrest last year.
Ruling on media requests to have photographers in the courtroom, Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves concluded that media interest in the case is prompted not by the facts but by the celebrity status of Lil Wayne, who faces drug and weapons charges. The rap star’s rights to a fair trial outweigh the media’s desire to film or photograph trial proceedings, Reeves said. Reporters will be able to attend and report on the trial. (Yuma Sun)
Weezy’s attorneys were recently denied a request to have his case pushed back to the Grand Jury last month.
In their motion, which was based on the misconduct with weapons charge, attorneys James Tilson and Natman Schaye argued the Grand Jury was not given all the elements involved in the alleged offense, and that led to an errorneous finding of probable cause. Superior Court Judge Mark Wayne Reeves, who is presiding over the case, said he based his decision on having read the Grand Jury transcripts as to what the factual basis of the offense was, the statutes the offense fell under and that there is a different standard of finding of probable cause between a trial jury and a Grand Jury. It’s been no secret that rappers Freeway [click to read] and Beanie Sigel [click to read] practice the religion of Islam. As Muslims, the two have been part of a growing community in Hip Hop, which includes the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Brother Ali, and Q-Tip. However, despite their ties to Islamic faith, it is rare to hear Freeway or Sigel talk about it, albeit a reference or two in verses.
With that said, a transcript of a 2008 interview from a few years back written by Adisa Banjoko, a noted scholar and co-founder of the Hip Hop Chess Federation, has surfaced in Illume magazine. In it, both Freeway and Sigel speak adamantly about their faith.
Freeway, who converted when he was 14-years old, stated the growth of Islam has not been confined to the subculture of Hip Hop. “It’s not just confined to Hip Hop. Islam is one of the fastest growing religions right now.” Continuing, he explained the appeal that led him to becoming a Muslim. “If you read The Qur’an and the authentic hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad) you can get the answers to any question. It’s beautiful. If you ask a Christian about their religion -The Father, Son, Holy Ghost thing- they can’t really give you no answers. In Islam the answers are right there. They come to you with proof. They are not just telling you something. They are backing it up with proof.”

Forbes reports the 39-year-olds net worth as being $150 million which has been gained through Jay Z’s work as an entertainer and the many investments he has made throughout the years.
Jay-Z is co-owner of the 40/40 Club, partial owner of the New Jersey Nets, and he recently sold Rocawear for $204 million [click to read].
With a net worth of $110 million, Def Jam founder Russell Simmons was a few millions shy of making it onto the list.

California emcee Jay Rock was recently exonerated as the lead suspect of a drive by shooting in his Watts neighborhood.
Jay Rock, real name Johnnie McKenzie, was arrested on Wednesday April 29 as the primary suspect in the shooting. Footage of the arrest was disseminated throughout the internet last week. In the 3 minute clip, an agitated Jay Rock is shown in custody on a curb outside his home, while friends shout epithets at the police.
Despite being cleared of the charge, authorities still detained Jay Rock for several days on undisclosed outstanding warrants. The Watts emcee was eventually bailed out in time to make a scheduled Utah concert last weekend.
With a background in the Bloods street gang and explicit songs about his Watts neighborhood, Jay Rock represents one of a handful of new “Gangsta Rap” artists with breakout star potential. He hit the national scene last year courtesy of the single “All My Life,” which featured Lil Wayne and Will.i.am. Since then, he’s gone on to work with The Game, Lloyd Banks, and Busta Rhymes.

The impact of Hip-Hop culture on buying public and how they live is the subject of a new book by former Nike/Jordan brand executive and SMU Cox Marketing adjunct lecturer Erin Patton.
The book, titled Under the Influence: Tracing the Hip-Hop Generation’s Impact on Brands, Sports & Pop Culture, is regarded as a references for businesses by offering “market- tested solutions” for garnering support from the Hip-Hop generation.
Among the methods detailed in the book are Patton’s 7 Ciphers, a concept companies can utilize in learning about the “brand preferences, product attributes, and potential disruptive innovations” of its target market.

Yesterday (May 6), NBA star Baron Davis and others traveled to Washington DC to screen the film Crips & Bloods: Made In America to members of US Congress.Davis was a producer of the film, airing on PBS, and available for DVD sale byVerso Entertainment.
Directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Stacy Peralta (Riding Giants and Dogtown and Z-Boys), the film chronicles the migration of African Americans to California in the post-World War II era, through prosperity, to the economic and social challenges that led to the surgence of neighborhood organizations, which would become The Crips and The Bloods. The film is narrated by Forest Whitaker, and also produced by Beef series creator QDIII, along with Davis.
The Los Angeles Clippers star, who frequently associates with Hip Hop artists such as The Game, told HipHopDX earlier this week about the importance of presenting his film before Congress. “If this kind violence were happening in the Pacific Palisades or Beverly Hills, you can believe the resources necessary to change things would have been brought fourth. But it’s almost as if because its in the inner-city, the cycle is allowed to persist. It’s my sincere hope that this film will bring awareness to the problems, and shows members of Congress what is really needed to make a change. Incarceration, or the threat of incarceration, is not a solution to the violence. If that were the case, gang-related crimes would be non-existent. We need to cure this problem at its core by providing funding and resources that give these individuals alternatives and opportunities that allow them to be positive, contributing members of their community. We need these kids to see that there is hope, and another way to live a successful life.”

KFC Spokesman Rick Maynard said “millions” of coupons have been downloaded already; the online giveaway expires at midnight tonight.
Maynard wouldn’t disclose details of Oprah’s relationship with the historic chain other than saying she wanted to give Americans a free meal, while KFC was looking to promote its latest product.
“I’d say the response has been exactly what we expected, and we expected it to be great,” he said.

Fresh off the muscular performance of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” at the boxoffice, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.
Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called “Deadpool.” Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.
Deadpool is known as “the merc with a mouth,” a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in “Wolverine” until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.
It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in “Wolverine,” though it’s unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds’ handsome mug.
