Great story. Props to D-Nice.
BMW had their Art Cars and Mini has specialty celebrity designed automobiles, but Bentley decided to take things a step further and recruit contemporary artist Romero Britto to create the centerpiece for their “Come to my world” exhibition in Germany. The English automaker provided Mr. Britto with a Continental GT as a canvas, prepared with a Bentley Blue base coat for the South Florida artist to get to work.
The car is covered in colorful, comic-like figures featuring a large multi colored flower on the hood, winged heart on the driver’s door, ladybug inspired door mirrors and a few orange and purple stars. The negative space is covered with Britto’s recognizable signature, similar to the mathematical symbol for pi; it is consists of a “T” followed by a squiggly line that sometimes goes down like a backwards “J” and other times is just a continuation of the character before it. The entire feeling of this piece of 200 MPH artwork is that it is as playful as the GT is fun to drive.

NASHVILLE (Reuters) – Police on Sunday ruled the death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair a homicide, a day after his bullet-riddled body was found in a Nashville apartment along with the body of his girlfriend, whose death has not been classified.
McNair, who was 36, was shot four times — twice in the head, twice in the chest, according to a statement posted on Sunday on the Nashville police website.
A semi-automatic pistol was found underneath the body of McNair’s girlfriend, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, who was shot in the head.
There was no sign of forced entry into the condominium. But police did not speculate in the statement on whether Kazemi is believed to have murdered McNair and committed suicide.
“While it is clear McNair’s death is a homicide, the police department is not classifying Kazemi’s death pending further investigation and interviews with persons who knew her and McNair,” Nashville police said in the statement. Read more…

I have seen much worse things concerning the use of the word midget in television and film and the Celebrity Apprentice seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. More below:

NEW YORK — Little people are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to ban the use of the word “midget” on broadcast TV.
The group Little People of America said Sunday the word is just as offensive as racial slurs.
The request was prompted by an April episode of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” that the group said was demeaning.
In the episode, contestants created a detergent ad called “Jesse James and the Midgets.” The contestants, including Joan Rivers, suggested bathing little people in the detergent and hanging them to dry.
Calls to the FCC and “Celebrity Apprentice” host Donald Trump were not immediately answered Sunday. NBC Universal representatives didn’t immediately respond to e-mail messages, and the telephone rang unanswered at their Los Angeles office.
I have been away for a couple of days so I am still a little behind on this story, but I was a big fan of Steve McNair and I send out sincere condolences.

In the photos, McNair and Kazemi can be seen parasailing together on some kind of beach getaway. It’s clear the two had some sort of special relationship.
McNair and Kazemi were both found shot to death in Tennesee yesterday — McNair’s body was riddled with bullets, Kazemi suffered just one shot to the head. Authorities say a gun was found very close to her body. Officials won’t classify the incident as a murder/suicide just yet … but so far, the facts seem to point in that direction.
McNair, a former NFL MVP who was married with four children, was 36 years old.
UPDATE — Detectives for the Nashville PD say they’ve been told McNair and Kazemi “had been in a dating relationship” for several months. And while it is clear they can rule McNair’s death a homicide, detectives have not yet classified Kazemi’s death, pending further investigation.

The corner of 205th Street and Hollis in Queens will be renamed “Run-D.M.C. JMJ Way” after Hip-Hop group Run DMC and the group’s legendary DJ, Jam Master Jay who was murdered in a Queens recording studio on October 30, 2002. All three members of the group hail from the Hollis neighborhood. Queens Democrat Councilman Leroy G. Comrie, representative of the area, supported the naming of the street, and even highlighted Darryl McDaniel’s (DMC) donation of memorabilia for the possible Hollis Hip-Hop Museum.
In a statement to the New York Times Comrie said, “It is my sincere hope that this street renaming, combined with the museum, will help to economically revitalize this particular neighborhood as a potential tourism attraction.” On April 4, 2009, Run DMC became just the second Hip-Hop group to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, after Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five.

Just a year after being acquitted on charges of soliciting a minor for child pornography, Kelly, 42, is again under investigation for allegedly being sexually involved with an underage girl, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.
On June 16, detectives showed up at Kelly’s home in Olympia Fields, Ill., after receiving a tip that an underage girl was staying with him, a family insider revealed.
Neither Kelly nor the girl were at the house when police arrived, but authorities were able to locate the girl and determined that she is 17 – the age of legal consent in the state. But cops are now looking into how long the relationship has been going on “so they can establish if they were involved before she turned 17,” says the insider.
Detective Michael Mayden of the Olympia Fields Police Department confirmed to The ENQUIRER that the investigation is ongoing, but no complaint has been filed. The detective says Kelly will be interviewed by police when he returns to Illinois after his current tour in South Africa.

There has to be some kind of huge ethical violations she is trying to avoid by stepping down as govenor of Alaska.

After Sarah Palin’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week she has announced she will be stepping down in a few weeks. In a press conference call this morning, Alaska’s Governor Sarah Palin has announced she will not run for re-election and is stepping down as governor.
She had a brief statement. She took no questions.
Her commissioners and Lt. Governor were with her at her home. Palin did not relinquish the reigns of the state to the Lt. Governor while running for vice president.
Lt. Governor Sean Parnell will step in as governor at the end of the month. He was defeated by Congressman Don Young in the Republican primary last year.

Reports began circulating on the web last week that the new Apple iPhone 3GS was regularly overheating. The phone, released on June 19, would become warm during use — in some cases allegedly too hot to handle — and the screen would become discolored. Was there a design glitch in Apple’s new roll-out?
After almost a week of silence, Apple has posted a warning on one of their support sites. And they blame… “the weather,” according to a cheeky headline in a British newspaper.

BET has expressed remorse over a performance by Lil Wayne, Drake and Young Money Records that involved underage girls during songs “Best I Ever Had” and “Every Girl.”
The songs, which have overt sexual references, were performed during the Sunday BET Awards ’09 show as a bevy of young girls danced on stage. The group of girls consisted of Lil Wayne’s daughters and her friends.
In an exclusive statement, BET has responded to the criticism and the public outcry over the segment.
“BET Networks deeply regrets the performance by Young Money at the BET AWARDS ’09 (featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine),” a BET representative told AllHipHop.com exclusively. “Elements of the performance were unplanned and should not have happened.”

This drawing from the United States Patent and Trademark Office shows the famous 45-degree lean Michael Jackson performed in his "Smooth Criminal" video (USPTO)
via MYFOXNY
In a famous scene from Michael Jackson’s music video for “Smooth Criminal,” the pop singer and his troupe of dancers are seen leaning forward at a 45-degree angle. How did he do it?
Dvice.com reports that the singer and his dancers used wires and harnesses in the 1988 music video. But when Jackson performed the song live, he had the help of special shoes. The shoes were actually patented in 1993.
US Patent number 5255452 explains that the shoes contain anklets that imitate the rigidity of ski boots and also latch on to pegs that rise out of the floor, thereby allowing Jackson to defy gravity.
The patent states that the shoes are “a system for allowing a shoe wearer to lean forwardly beyond his center of gravity by virtue of wearing a specially designed pair of shoes which will engage with a hitch member movably projectable through a stage surface. The shoes have a specially designed heel slot which can be detachably engaged with the hitch member by simply sliding the shoe wearer’s foot forward, thereby engaging with the hitch member.”
Jackson may have come up with his own unique leaning move, but it appears he may have been heavily influenced by dance legend Fred Astaire. One YouTube user created a video that blends Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” with scenes from Astaire’s 1953 film “The Band Wagon” that shows similarities between Jackson and Astaire’s dance moves.

We sympathize with (but do not condone!) reporter Steve Ryan’s reaction after this drunk prankster repeatedly harassed him during his live Las Vegas Strip broadcast about Michael Jackson’s death. Ryan tries to continue his live report, and initially reacts with good humor and patience, but when the man just won’t leave him alone and wrecks the broadcast, Ryan lightly slaps the man in the face. The camera cuts back to the anchors but not before catching the engagement.
Wonkette is right that the stunned expressions (0:33) on the anchors’ faces (especially the one of the right) “might rank among the greatest YouTube freeze-frames of some period of time.
Today was a long day as I, along with thousands of other Michael Jackson fans waited for our chance to pay homage to our King of pop at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. Not deterred by the long lines, blazing sun or pouring rain, the crowd often burst into “Michael, Michael, Michael!” chants. The Apollo did their best to usher in 600 fans at a time for a 45 minute celebration filled with music, videos and the chance to leave memorabilia at the Apollo Stage. At the close of the day the thousands of fans that did not have the opportunity to enter the Apollo stood outside singing some of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits.
