I think they went a bit overboard with this ad especially for the people in NYC who lost loved ones to this still debated about tragedy. Whoever signed off on this obviously a wee bit insensitive to this event which froze NYC for weeks and months. AD FAIL:

This first image of a CGI Smurf from Sony Pictures Animation’s upcoming Smurfs movie was posted online last night, but we had to take a few more steps to make sure it was the real deal. It turns out that the studio ran the promo image, of which you can find a scan below, in a magazine recently.
Opening in theaters on December 17, 2010, the film will be directed by Raja Gosnell. “The Smurfs” were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known throughout the world as Peyo.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jay-Z has designed a T-shirt with an image of Arthur Ashe that will be sold during the U.S. Open to benefit charity.
The shirt is part of the rap mogul’s Rocawear clothing line and commemorates the USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning network’s 40th anniversary. Ashe co-founded the NJTL network in 1969.
Proceeds will benefit the NJTL and the Arthur Ashe Endowment for the Defeat of AIDS.
Ashe’s widow, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, says she is “thrilled that someone of Jay-Z’s stature would take part in this project.”
Ashe will be inducted into the U.S. Open Court of Champions on Sept. 10.

To show support for a new Vermont law legalizing gay marriage, the iconic ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s has renamed its popular “Chubby Hubby” flavor. The new flavor, which Ben & Jerry’s is producing in partnership with Freedom To Marry, will be called “Hubby Hubby.”
For the next 30 days, Hubby Hubby will be available across Vermont. The product’s packaging will feature two men in tuxedos getting married. Here’s the Boston Herald:
“In the meantime, a wedding-themed Ben & Jerry’s truck will hand out free “Hubby Hubby” across Vermont today. Scheduled stops include the Vermont Capitol, where lawmakers passed a gay-marriage law that takes effect today. Ben & Jerry’s six Vermont ice cream parlors also plan to sell special “Hubby Hubby” sundaes during September.”

The Blastmaster KRS-One has been educating Hip-Hop and the masses for over 20 years. As he gears to release his latest project Survival Skills on September 15 with Duck Down front-man Buckshot, KRS spoke to Hip-Hop Wired exclusively about the controversial documentary The Obama Deception. In the film, KRS speaks on secret societies running the United States and the world as well as his views on the nation’s first African-American President. Receiving some flack for his outspoken views, KRS-One addresses the film and his real feelings about President Obama and it’s not exactly what you think. His philosophy never is but edutaining nonetheless.

Atlanta DJ/rapper DJ Unk was recently hospitalized with heart problems.
The rapper, famous for his single “Walk It Out” was rushed to the hospital on Saturday (August 29), after suffering a mild heart attack.
He was treated and released over the weekend.
On his Twitter page, he confirmed the heart attack and revealed that he would be leading a healthier lifestyle.
DJ Unk born Anthony Platt, denied reports that drug use was to blame, although he did state that he would be giving up his habit of smoking marijuana.
He brushed off the allegations that he overdosed smoking marijuana and claimed that a poor diet was the reason he suffered a heart attack.
“No more Kush, Purp, Piff, Haze, Sour desiel [types of marijuana] for me! No more drinks! Got to do this for my health! Live healthy! be healthy! Live unhealthy and suffer the concequences! [sic]. Keep god first and haters last! It’s not over till the fat lady sing.”
While he admitted to being at “45 % strength,” DJ Unk remained in good spirits as he prepared for a trip to Germany for an upcoming performance.
“No more hot wings, no fried food, no more seafood ! Dam what must I eat?(air) and (water)?” Unk joked.
According to statistics, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for African-American men and women, killing nearly 100,000 per-year.

A Florida biology teacher fired after posing for racy pictures has landed a new career – in pornography.
Tiffany Shepherd, 31, made headlines in April after bikini-clad pictures of her on a fishing charter got her canned from Port St. Lucie High School. She turned to doing porn, she told a Florida news outlet, after losing custody of two of her three kids to her ex-husband and sending out 2,500 resumes – some even to prisons – without landing a new teaching job.
“I’m not particularly proud of it. To be honest, I hate it,” Shepherd told Page2live.com. “I’m an educated woman, but I never thought it would come to this. No one gets brought up thinking they’ll be a floozy.”
On screen, Shepherd goes by the name Leah Lust and has filmed five feature films, including one titled ‘My first sex teacher,’ where Shepherd portrays the very job she’s been trying to get back.
“It’s very professional,” says Shepherd on the Web site. “Everyone’s tested — for venereal diseases and AIDS — and I’m carrying around my little piece of paper that says I’m fine. They love me because I take care of myself and I don’t run out to party with my money.”
Shepherd got into the business after the captain of the fishing charter that got her into trouble in the first place recommended it as a way to make good money. Captain Gil Coombes, of the boat ‘Smokin ‘Em,’ owns a porn Web cam studio with his wife, Kat, called KLC productions.
“We sat down with her and told her she’d never get a teaching job again,” Coombes told Page2live.com
