While everyone may not agree Adidas’s tweeting shoe is pushing the social networking to be even more fashionable. Adidas is calling it the “future of athlete connectivity” as they prepare for the 2016 Olympics.
I enjoyed Hunger Games and since I didn’t read the book at the beginning of the film I hoped that I could find a few people that looked like me in this imagined future. I was pleased to find that some of the films key actors were black and the film was more diverse than I initially expected. I guess some people didn’t get the same joy out of that diversity.

Went to see Hunger Games Saturday and even though the film was great, I was even happier to hear the sounds of Hypnotic’s War as we were introduced to the tributes. This song definitely embodied the energy of the film. Make sure to grab the Hunger Games Soundtrack, which also features powerhouse artists like Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift.

Yesterday in Ridge Farm, Illinois 300 of the towns 900 residents paid their respects to Ashlynn Conner, a 5th grader who committed suicide after constant bullying.
Her mother, Stacy Conner appeared on the Today Show on NBC this morning and explained that her daughter had recently requested to be home-schooled and that as early as the 3rd grade students were taunting her, calling her a slut. Stacy Connor said that at the time she felt her daughter was too young to even understand what a slut was but that she tried to help her understand how to deal with bullying and that in the beginning the school had been helpful as well. However, more recently the Ashlynn was told that needed to “sit down and stop tattling,” when she complained of bullying.

After weeks of news stories regarding the couples despondent tweets, Demi Moore has confirmed that she is ending her 6 year marriage with Ashton Kutcher. In September a 22-year-old woman named Sara Leal claimed to have sex with Ashton and although Demi is not being specific it appears that cheating is the reason for the break up.
Demi says, “as a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
Ashton tweeted: ”I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”

Yesterday, Herman Cain began receiving Secret Service Protection. According to an official who has asked not to be identified, this protection was spurred on because Cain was receiving death threats. The nature of the threats was unclear. Spokesman of the Secret Service, Ed Donovan, would not confirm the death threats.
“I have showered after work-outs,” admits Sandusky, who claims to be innocent of the 40 count child abuse indictment. Adults should understand that showering with children is inappropriate and why didn’t Sandusky learn this lesson after he was called out for showering with the first victim. While his lawyer complains that in the public eye is Guilty even before his trail, Sandusky’s own words and those of his accusers speak to his guilt.

“I got all this stuff twirling around in my head,” says Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain after repeatedly pausing and looking to the sky for answers when asked if he agrees with President Obama’s stance on Libya. Maybe he was expecting another question regarding inappropriate sexual advances instead.

We all know the saying “When you see something, say something,” but it seems that Penn State’s legendary head coach Joe Paterno did not say enough regarding Jerry Sandusky’s alleged child abuse scandal. Although Paterno reported Sandusky to athletic director Tim Curley, it seems that his efforts stopped there. On Monday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly pointed out that the “officials and administrators to whom it was reported did not report the incident to law enforcement or to any child protection agency. Their inaction, likely, allowed a child predator to continue to victimize children for many, many years.”
In the state capital of Harrisburg, The Patriot-News ran a full front-page editorial calling for the end of Paterno’s time at Penn State.
It looks like Cain can’t sweep this under the rug as quickly as he would like. Chicago woman, Sharon Bialek is the fourth woman to accuse Herman Cain of sexual harassment. When making his advances, Bialek claims that Cain stated “You want a job?” Though he argues that the media and his opponents are out to bury him, it is hard to believe that Cain’s inconsistent story will continue stand up against woman that are deciding to come forward with their story.

“I would not have had the opportunity for Relativity, I think, to take the chance on allowing me to carry the burden of a story on my own if I hadn’t been in The Hang Over,“ shared Bradley Cooper in his recent interview with BBC radio. Cooper, who is working on his next film Place Beyond the Pine, where he plays a cop that is “finding his way,” appears to be enjoying his successes with Limitless and The Hang Over 2 and making new roads for the future. It also seems that Cooper would welcome The Hang Over 3, if asked by Todd Philips, who he believes to be the best filmmaker in comedy. Click here Listen to the interview at BBC.com
This is another unfortunate story that broke yesterday. Hideki Irabu, former New York Yankees pitcher was found dead in his California home on July 27 at age 42. According to NBC Sports, Irabu had a tumultuous career after his 1998 and 1999 World Series wins with the Yankees, where he was labeled a fat toad by former owner George Steinbrenner after failing to meet expectations. After being traded to the Expos and then the Rangers, Irabu retired in 2002. Irabu was arrested in 2010 for drunk driving and in 2008 for assaulting a bar manager after “allegedly consuming 20 glasses of beer.” via NBCSports
Stories like these force us to look in the mirror and ask what is the source of our joy. Life is not perfect and it never will be but our lives revolve around our careers, people or status, we will never be fulfilled. I am not privy to know the details of Hideki Irabu’s life, however, it is clear that at some point he lost hope along with a sense of purpose in this life. Take time to love yourself today.

CNN news anchor takes a leap into daytime television. We all know Anderson Cooper for breaking hard-news stories in Egypt and saving children during the earthquake in Haiti but now he is ready to offer his personal perspective. Set to air September 12, Cooper doesn’t promise his new show will change lives. However, based on his previous work, I am looking forward to what he has to offer. I am sure it is a great alternative to Maury.

Special thanks to Kim France for forwarding me this video. Tamara Winfrey Harris encourages women to wear their hair in it’s natural state. Those of us with afros, twists, locks and other natural styles can relate to Harris’ story of a woman in a restaurant that attempted to grab her hair.
If you know me then you know I love horror movies so I had to put up the official trailer to Paranormal Activity 3. The film is set to premiere October 21st. I’m sure the studio are looking forward to big profits with Paranormal Activity 3 since it’s predecessors generated $370 million worldwide on a combined budget of less than $4 million.
Kanye West and Jay-Z show love to music legend Otis Redding with their new release “OTIS,” which Hot 97 DJ FunkMaster Flex premiered yesterday. The song samples Reddings 1966 classic “Try a Little Tenderness.” I give it a thumbs up. You really can’t go wrong with this on the production side and this lyrically it’s got H.A.M faded. But don’t take my opinion, judge for yourself.

While watching Combat Hospital on Hulu, I spotted a commercial for the show MisFits. The top-rated sci-fi series in the UK was made available for the first time in the US via Hulu in June. As a first time viewer, I must say I am enjoying MisFits as it balances crazy sci-fi concepts with sexy banter and comic relief. If you are one of the folks who was up in arms over the Glee Gone Wild photos in GQ, steer clear of MisFits. While Americans are unaccustomed to the racy TNA that these teenagers flaunt, some feel that it is a more realistic representation to teenage behavior. Without getting into a back and forth on ethics, I think that this show is intriguing but judge for yourself.
The Earth Quake has passed but now mothers face rising radiation exposure.
Current radiation release figures from TEPCO, the power company that operates and manages the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant now reveals that larger than originally reported releases of radiation at 770,000 terabecquerels did happen, a level that may hold much more significance as the disabled plant is expected to continue to release radioactive isotopes over an extended period of time.
“The situation at the Fukushima Daiichi plant remains very serious,” said the IAEA – International Atomic Energy Agency in a recent March 26, 2011 report.

After a spate of recent muggings and robberies, a group of 20 Bedford-Stuyvesant men started escorting people home as they got off the train and are walking through the neighborhood reaching out to young men.
“We’re about encouraging males to be involved, because you don’t see men in their 20s, 30s and 40s involved in the community anymore, so we’re trying to bridge that gap.”
Once a week – on random evenings – the men walk subway riders home from the Utica Ave. train station. They also sponsored a neighborhood outreach walk earlier this month, stopping to talk to young men hanging out on the corners.
Today, I watched my father shed a tear for the loss of his friend, Melvin Burnside as his photos, family and supporters flashed across Chicago news shows. 53, Melvin was murdered in his Riverdale home and was rushed to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey where he was soon after reported dead.
Growing up, my dad told me countless stories about Melvin and his favorite southside spot, Reese’s. Earlier this year, finally old enough to get in, I went with my family to Reese’s for drinks and Steppin’. Like a scene from Cheers, Melvin knew my dad’s favorite drink and greeted our family with warm smiles and laughter.
