Congressman Al Franken fires letter to Jobs about iPhone ‘tracking your every movement’ feature

April 21, 2011 1 comment

Are we really surprised that Steve Jobs is Big Brother? Every aspect of this society we are being followed and watched by some evil force so get used to it.

via Arstechnica

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) wants answers. Security researchers today revealed the existence of a file on iPhones and on their computer backups that logs detailed cell phone triangulation data—and has ever since iOS 4 was released last summer. The information is stored unencrypted by default, and is simple to access. That announcement led Franken to fire off a two-page letter (PDF) today, asking nine pointed questions of Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

The letter concludes with a list of questions.

  1. Why does Apple collect and compile this location data? Why did Apple choose to initiate tracking this data in its iOS 4 operating system?
  2. Does Apple collect and compile this location data for laptops? Read more…

What Mario would look like if it was a sweet next-gen first person shooter!

After not touching 3dsMax since the mailboxes in Jedi Assholes, Brandon decided to get his 3d chops back. We’ve been working on this in the background for the last three weeks. Don’t expect full 3d movies on a weekly basis, it took over 60 hours to render this beast out!

3dsMax, FumeFX, and After Effects were used to make this.

This is just plain dope. Check out how it looks at night a couple of minutes into the video. I am totally convinced that the line between movies and real life is totally blurred.

Ashton Kutcher Twitter Account Hacked

What a week for Twitter?
The network has had the circus that is Charlie Sheen join and get probably a record breaking Twitter followers in 24 hours, and one of their biggest celebrity users Ashton Kutcher’s account was hacked. With this happening if Ashton decides that he will no longer use the site because of this compromise will more big time celebs follow and ditch the service?

The two tweets following the hack were, “Ashton, you’ve been Punk’d. This account is not secure. Dude, where’s my SSL?” and “P.S. This is for those young protesters around the world who deserve not to have their Facebook & Twitter accounts hacked like this. #SSL”

The tweets were posted to his account @aplusk on Wednesday evening and were still on his page as of 8:50 p.m. Eastern Time (screenshot below).

Along the top are four Facebook buttons: People, Events, Notifications, and Places. The People button shows you the feeds of your closest friends as determined by Facebook’s Open Graph API. It’s like a friends and family circle on a mobile calling plan, except it shows you the feeds of your “top” friends, which you can swipe through. The phone also ingests all the details it can about your Facebook friends into the local address book so you have one unified social address book.

Judge shuts down file-sharing site Limewire

October 27, 2010 1 comment

I guess people still used Limewire but I stopped many years ago when it became infected with viruses and a bunch of crap but it was the sh*t when it first came out. The music industry still dropped the ball on this because they had the first opportunity to use this technology and they balked and basically self destructed and will probably never recover.

via Newser

Newser) – File-sharing site LimeWire has been effectively killed off by a court order. A federal judge has issued an injunction ordering the service to permanently disable its software and to end the sharing of unauthorized music files, the Wall Street Journal reports. The popular site was found liable for copyright infringement on a “massive scale” six months ago.
