Dems Start Petition Against Limbaugh

(CNN) – In a bid to capitalize on Rush Limbaugh’s recent comment that he hopes President Obama “fails,” national Democrats launched a petition drive Wednesday taking direct aim at the conservative radio host. “Jobs, health care, our place in the world — the stakes for our nation are high and every American needs President Obama to succeed,” says the petition, sponsored by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh’s Attacks — sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama.”

ALL HAIL THE CHIEF! Obama’s historic speech is being heralded as the defining moment of the campaign.  Taking the podium at approximately  10:11 p.m. Senator Obama was met with thunderous applause.  As he patiently waited to begin the “speech of a lifetime” Obama tempered the crowd then proceeded to deliver the magnum opus of modern day politics, a eloquently worded, masterful execution of an indictment against the current administration and a blank slate of promises to appease the needs of the American voter as it relates to domestic policy and concerns about “national” security.

At 11 p.m. Obama had done and formally become one of the things considered an anomaly when one is thinking about the “full” fruition of the American Dream; a viable “non-European” candidate for the highest office in the land, the seat of President of the UNITED STATES.  This “crowning” moment in American history took place on a date already historic in origin and intricately tied into the events taking place on stage in Denver tonight.  The “Civil” Rights leader and world renowned orator Martin Luther King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, atop the National Mall 45 years earlier, signaling the ideal of a change to come in American society, be it political, religious or societal, change by any name is CHANGE.

So along comes a Senator from the state of Illinois who is able to embody that dream and connect with the frequency of CHANGE, faithful enough in the realization of that dream that he had the audacity to HOPE that his message would resonate.  It did.  Tonight’s speech connected and took care of the constituency of voters who were waiting for their marching orders.  The campaign has been turned up another notch and herein begins the final lap to the White House.  How will history shape up in the next 70 days?  It should be an interesting ride, none the less. Talk about reppin’ ya Home State! The DNC at Denver has a heavy Chi-Town factor to it, with Obama, the Illinois Senator requesting Chicago native Jennifer Hudson to personally deliver the National Anthem on Thursday, the day he delivers his historic acceptance speech.  In addition Kanye will be performing and the below clip features a performance by John Legend, another Chi Town prodigy.  Good Music is thick up in the building.

Kanye, Wyclef & Others Tapped for DNC Performances

Kanye West, Wyclef Jean and N.E.R.D. have been tapped to perform at the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver to support the presidential nomination of Sen. Barack Obama.

According to Billboard, West is rumored to be performing on behalf of Bono’s One Campaign, which landed the rapper in conjunction with the RIAA. Jean and N.E.R.D. are expected to headline a party thrown by MTV and Rock the Vote.

The convention, which begins Aug. 25 at Invesco Field in Denver, will culminate with the party’s nomination of Obama three days later.

CNN: ‘Top secret’ weapons to be used at political convention

I remember going down to the RNC at MSG last election cycle and seeing the deployment of soldiers and vehicles with E.L.F. weapons (Extremely Low Frequency) ready to combat any unruly protesters so why wouldn’t they be deployed to the DNC in Denver? After all Denver is home to a major military installation were most of these weapons are either created or tested.

Party Like a Rockstar? Obama to Address 80,000+ @ Football Stadium

NEW YORK (AP) — In a break with tradition, Barack Obama will accept the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field at Mile High, a 76,000-seat stadium, rather than at the site of the party’s national convention across town.

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean acknowledged the decision to move Obama’s speech on the final night of the Aug. 25-28 convention to the giant open-air football field of the Denver Broncos would raise security challenges, but said he and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper had agreed such concerns won’t deter the change in venue.

Is The DNC Hating On “Black” Bloggers?

Dallas Morning News is reporting that “minority bloggers that felt spurned by the Democratic National Committee got some vindication recently when they were added to the list of blogs invited by party officials to cover their convention in August – but some still say the white blogs got preferential treatment and will get better access.”

Members of the “AfroSpear” web network, a circle of African-American run blogs, complained last month when 55 blogs were credentialed to cover the convention in Denver as part of the “State Blogger Corps” but only a few could be identified as minority blogs or having minority writers, the newspaper reported.
