World’s Oldest Profession, Too, Feels Crisis

PRAGUE: On a recent night at Big Sister, which calls itself the world’s biggest Internet brothel, a middle-aged man selected a prostitute from an electronic menu on a flat-screen television, pressing his index finger against it to review the age, hair color, weight and languages spoken by the women on offer.
Once he had chosen an 18-year-old brunette, he put on a mandatory burgundy terry cloth robe and proceeded to one of the brothel’s luridly-lit theme rooms, an Alpine suite decorated with foam rubber mountains covered with fake snow.
Nearby, in the brothel’s cramped control room, two young technicians used joysticks to control the dozens of hidden cameras that would film his performance and stream it, live, on Big Sister’s Internet site.
Sex is free at Big Sister, but that is not cheap enough for some men. Customers get the cut rate in return for signing a release form that allows the brothel to film their sexual exploits. Read more…
Obama Speaks to 200,000 in Germany
via IHT
BERLIN: Senator Barack Obama stood before a sea of people here Thursday evening and issued a call for cooperation, imploring America and Europe to bridge differences and rekindle old alliances in an effort to restore global stability and better confront existing and unforeseen threats.
“If we’re honest with each other, we know that sometimes, on both sides of the Atlantic, we have drifted apart and forgotten our shared destiny,” Obama said. “In Europe, the view that America is part of what has gone wrong in our world, rather than a force to help make it right, has become all too common. In America, there are voices that deride and deny the importance of Europe’s role in our security and our future.” Read more…
Germany Approves Return to ‘Police State,’ Invokes Memories of Nazi Germany
Under the guise of a “War on Terror” the current US administration continues to erode at basic American liberties and conduct rampant surveillance of its own citizens. These moves have been compared to Nazi Germany‘s and their fascist form of governance but ironically these days it is Germany that is taking its cue’s from America and using the War on Terror to transform its country into a police state.
Despite strong criticism from the opposition and even its own coalition partners, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government agreed Wednesday to give Germany’s police forces greater powers to monitor homes, telephones and private computers, maintaining that an enhanced reach would protect citizens from terrorist attacks.

China Holds Multiple Rallies Against the West

On Saturday (4/29) China erupted in anti-Western demonstrations in response to a perceived bias against the Communist country’s handling of Tibetan monks. To add fuel to the fire, CNN’s Jack Cafferty is being accused of slander after publicly declaring that China is “a bunch of goons and thugs.” Although CNN has since apologized on behalf of Cafferty, protesters still took the streets by the thousands in both mainland China, France, Britain, Berlin and Los Angeles to denounce CNN and any other American detractors of the Beijing regime, who will play host to the 2008 Olympics.
In what is gearing up to be an ugly and controversial opening ceremony, Germany and British leaders have already stated that they will not be in attendance. George Bush is expected to obediently be there representing the United States, whom the Chinese have invested insurmountable amounts of currency in. The protesters also mobilized and rallied in front of French retailer Carrefour, a store the Chinese claim support the Dalai Lama.
People gathered in front of Carrefour stores, chanting slogans of “Oppose Tibet independence” and “Oppose CNN’s anti-China statements,” referring to the international broadcaster, the official Xinhua news agency said.
They also chanted “Support the Olympics,” “Play up! China,” and “Condemn CNN” through loudspeakers.
These protest were the biggest anti-West demonstrations China has seen in three years since they protested Japan’s wartime past. CLICK HEREfor full details.

Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It
America’s favorite pastime, gangsta rap is being blamed for a surge of violence in Germany, of all fun-loving places. It appears that the world was turing a deaf ear to Germany’s rising gangsta rap element until shots rang out suddenly. These shots heard around the world were directed at Massiv, a Palestinian rapper who was relatively new to the burgeoning German gangsta rap scene. Unknown assailants confronted Massiv on January 14 as he conversed on his phone and pumped three bullets into him, rehashing memories of 50 Cent, the world’s most famous shot victim. After spending hours in the hospital, Massiv checked himself out, mirroring another famous gangsta rapper, the late Tupac Shakur. All of this on the heels of his soon to be released album. This attack is the latest in a series of dust-ups that have plagued the German scene. Massiv was attacked last summer on stage, rapper Bushido was attacked on stage in Hanover and in November Berlin rapper Fler was attacked by knife wielding assailants. Critics are worried that these rappers are seeking the approval of a fanbase that has been indoctrinated with the “keep it real” ethos of America based gangsta rap and in order to believe that these artist are the real deal, fans want to see some blood.
