“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence,” Blige tells Us Weekly in a statement of the spot, which was slammed by critics and subsequently yanked from the airwaves after going viral earlier this week.
I had heard about this story last week but since a million other blogs were going to post it I decided to skip it. But I was glad Mary J. Blige had received her diploma and was about to enter Howard University as reported by the media. It kinda shocked me though because of the success that Mary J. has achieved, it seems that it was more of personal goal rather than something that she actively needed to do to be successful.
She has various business ventures and is one of the most successful artists of all time, with a reported 50 million albums sold in her career. Who am I to judge, maybe she felt that college was necessary for her to move into the next phase of her business and career. Anyway after the story broke Howard University was contacted and nixed the the idea that she has been accepted and otherwise threw cold water on her big announcement.

In an interview with the New Orleans Time-Picayune about the release of her new perfume, Blige offered this tidbit of information: “For the record, I just received my high school diploma yesterday (Monday). The city of New York gave me my high school diploma … and now Howard University has accepted me.”
WTF. I just watched the ever so sweet Mary J. Blige on the view being the perfect guest and now this? What is even more sad and shocking is that Chris Brown is now officially the poster boy for domestic violence. Read below:

Mary J. Blige punched husband Kendu Isaacs in the face at her record release party at club M2 Tuesday night. The singer slugged Isaacs, drawing blood, after she thought he was flirting with a waitress. “She turned to him and was screaming, ‘You’re not going to ruin my night,’ ” our witness says. “They got up in each other’s faces before someone tried to separate them, at which point she shoved the guy aside, pulled back and popped [Isaacs] in the face.” The source said Blige, Isaacs and their entourage were whisked through a door to the attached club Pink, which was closed. Our witness relates, “She was yelling at him, ‘What are you gonna do, Chris Brown me?’ Four of her bodyguards and two of the club’s kept them apart.” Isaacs was kicked out. Blige went to the bathroom to fix her hair and makeup, but soon fled, creating an uncomfortable scene for partygoers Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Busta Rhymes. Her rep said only, “People lie and don’t know what they’re talking about.”
A lot of Summer Jam veterans, no one from the ’09 lineup though. Conspicuously missing is Ross and/or Cam. They also got representatives from the South and even Reggae but no one from the West. They need Nipsey up there if you ask me.
You would think lawsuits like this one would be a thing of the past in the music industry. Sh*t we still are over here fighting for people to recognize that we created the internet and coined the phrase ‘blog’. Anyway Ms. Blige has some explaining to do concerning the song in the IPOD ad below:
NEW YORK (AP) – Mary J. Blige has been sued in New York for $2 million by a company that says she stole some of the music she used on her latest hit album, including one used on an iPod commercial. The Drama Family Entertainment company filed the lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan on Tuesday.
The lawsuit claims the company suffered copyright infringement because the singer’s “Growing Pains” album contains the song “Work That.” The suit says the song was created by a producer who worked for the company at the time.
The song was featured with a silhouetted Blige in an iPod commercial. Apple Inc. isn’t named in the lawsuit.

G-Unit frontman 50 Cent, R&B Siren Mary J. Blige and Super Producer Timbaland have been named in a probe of possible steriod/human growth hormone users. While details remain sketchy it is being reported that the superstar’s names have popped up in the year-long investigation launced by Albany DA P. David Soares into the use of steriods in the sports entertainment world. After some big snares namely in the world of baseball, sights have been set on the music entertainment industry. Wyclef Jean and movie maker Tyler Perry have also been named in the investigation. The criminal aspect of the investigation is being limited to the pharmacists, clincs and doctors who allegedly provided the substance. None of the stars named in the investigation are in jeapordy of being charged with anything, in fact US Senator Charles Schumer has just introduced legislation that would make possession of these substances illegal. Stay tuned for development as this story takes shape and CLICK HERE for the full article.
Update: For a detailed description of the proof the Albany DA has against these stars CLICK HERE to read more. It appears some of them had drugs sent to their place of residence addressed to them, others used pseudonyms like Michael Jordan and Marlo Stanfield from The Wire.
