The Earth Quake has passed but now mothers face rising radiation exposure.
Current radiation release figures from TEPCO, the power company that operates and manages the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant now reveals that larger than originally reported releases of radiation at 770,000 terabecquerels did happen, a level that may hold much more significance as the disabled plant is expected to continue to release radioactive isotopes over an extended period of time.
“The situation at the Fukushima Daiichi plant remains very serious,” said the IAEA – International Atomic Energy Agency in a recent March 26, 2011 report.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Zapping frozen meals in the microwave may be fast and easy, but it also can make you sick if it’s not done properly.
That message has been slow to catch on, despite a spate of illnesses last year from improperly microwaved frozen foods. On Sunday, the government issued a new warning urging consumers to thoroughly cook frozen chicken dinners after 32 people in 12 states were sickened with salmonella poisoning.
“Given how people use microwaves, it’s great for reheating, but maybe not so good for cooking,” said Doug Powell, scientific director of the International Food Safety Network based at Kansas State University. Read more…
With the explosion of cell phones in the last decade, this new report linking cell phones to brain cancers and tumors can’t be welcoming news to customers. Researchers are going to the extreme and claiming the threat of cell phones use is more severe than smoking and asbestos because it’s over 3 billion people who are subjecting themselves to harmful levels of radiation, the ramifications of which will be unknown for roughly a decade. So they are estimating that the dilemma will be so wide spread that it will dwarf the horrendous number of people who succumb to smoke related cancer and asbestos exposure. (In other words EVERYONE is subject). Preliminary tests have shown the end results will point towards an alarming rise of deadly brain tumors, especially in children.
The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks.
It draws on growing evidence – exclusively reported in the IoS in October – that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long. Earlier this year, the French government warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimise handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced.
