Animated Star Wars Headed to Movies and TV

George Lucas is convinced he has more Star Wars treats in his bag and he has decided to illustrate his stories and use the Time Warner machine to distribute his foray into animation.  Warner Bros. will be releasing “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in theaters August 15 and trickle down to cable TV.  Time Warner networks TNT and Cartoon Network will be running the spinoff series.  The time period between “Attack of the Clone” and “Revenge of the Sith” will be the focus of the cartoon and guest appearances can be expected by Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grievous.  New character developments like Ahsoka, Annakin’s padawan who bears a striking resemblance to an Egyptian, will also be introduced.  Although initially geared towards a younger audience the developers are counting on die hard Star Wars fans to tune in and follow the storyline.

“An animated series always appeals more to a younger audience,” said director Dave Filoni. “But at the same time, we’ve tried to do some sophisticated things and ensure that we are going to satisfy the broad spectrum of ‘Star Wars’ fans.”
