Damn to think we almost missed this one. While we were immersed in US politics the small Central American island of Belize was making a significant contribution to Hip Hop History. You see amidst political scandal the incumbent leader lost his seat to Dean Barrow, the father of incarcerated rapper Jamal Barrow aka Shyne-Po, making him the first “black” prime minister of the country. Shyne is currently finishing up a 10 year bid for weapons and assault charges stemming from the infamous Club New York shooting that many feel turned Shyne into a patsy for Puff Daddy, yeah I said Puff Daddy!
