A young couple got into a fracas over which gang their 4 year old will join. The mom is a Crip and the father is a Westside Baller and apparently the tot’s gang affilation is major arguement in the household. Unbelieveable.
On Saturday, Joseph Manzanares stormed into the Hollywood Video store where his girlfriend worked, threatened to kill her and knocked over several video displays and even a computer, Commerce City police Sgt. Joe Sandoval said.
His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.

You’re full of crap. This is coming from someone who knows what’s up. The bottom line is that all the kids in the barrio aren’t in gangs and most of them manage to survive. That means gangs aren’t the necessary evil you’re claiming them to be. They’re glorified by pop culture so kids join them. The gangs get kids when they’re young because no one with a fully formed mind would join one. They’re like a cult in that way. Apologists like you are more harm than good. The truth is, gang members are those people in society who are either too stupid or too undisciplined to make it in the real world. And you can usually find the same weakness in their parents. no disrespect to you folks, but you just dont see the real reason why kids join gangs. As a former Gang Member ( information witheld), Ive seen many of children forced to fight for their survival everyday after school,in public, even at their own house.
You people see gangs as a threat. True, but in most cases, the very same gang doing all the destruction is the very same gang protecting you from other, more violent gangs. My Father is a the Chief of Police in Venice Beach, and he sees this type of actvity all the time. You shouldn’t criticize people in gangs, because frankly you have No idea what most of these young individuals go through on a DAILY basis.
