That’s what MTV confirmed today for “Jersey Shore.”
Yes, as it turns out, Snooki’s pregnancy and engagement did have an end-of-days effect on the MTV series. The sixth season of “Jersey Shore” will be its last.
Besides Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s “developments” — the latest of which manifested early Sunday with the birth of her son Lorenzo — The Situation’sdrug problem had swirled around the show, in addition to the usual anticsfrom the cast while filming.
In a prelude to the final season, MTV will be milking this for all it’s worth, airing a “first look” at next season’s footage in something called “Gym, Tan, Look Back,” at 6 p.m. Sept. 6, a lead-in to the Video Music Awards. The cast (probably not Snooks, who just had the baby and all), will be on the red carpet for pre-show interviews starting at 7 p.m., following an all-day “Jersey Shore” marathon that kicks off at 11 a.m. the same day.
