Update: Apple to Pay $3 Billion for Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics after Further Review of the Company’s Streaming Service

The deal is expected to close in the fiscal fourth quarter. Apple said it will pay $2.6 billion in cash and another $400 million that will vest over time.

Founded by rapper and producer Andre Young (aka Dr. Dre) and music mogul Jimmy Iovine, Beats Electronics is a key vendor in the premium headphone market. Apple reportedly began talks to buy the company in early May. Both Young and Iovine will join Apple as part of the deal.

“Iovine and Dre are kindred souls of Apple,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC in an interview.

Beats’ profit margins in the headphone market may be substantial. A pair of its high-end headphones retail for as much as $450, but production costs across the brand run only about $14 a pair, according to The New York Times. Apple said the deal would add to earnings in fiscal 2015.

 As I stated on other blog posts about Billboard’s anonymous sources (stating there was a snag in this deal because of the Tyrese/Dr. Dre premature viral video announcement), was pure bullshit. No way that video would affect a deal of this mangnitude and Billboard and its sources were reaching.

Apple’s biggest deal in its history just got a little cheaper.

The tech titan is expected to announce its acquisition of Beats Electronics this week — at the slightly reduced price of $3 billion, The Post has learned.

A report in the Financial Times earlier this month tipping the deal put the price at $3.2 billion.

That may have been the case, but negotiations between Apple CEO Tim Cook and the company co-founded by Dr. Dre were not helped by a leaked report that had Beats Music with just 111,000 subscribers to its streaming service in March.

Mark Cuban apologizes to the family of Trayvon Martin family but stands by his remarks when talking about race and prejudices. He was a long supporter of Donald Sterling so he is setting the stage to soften the blow on his Jewish brother.

“In hindsight I should have used different examples. I didn’t consider the Trayvon Martin family, and I apologize to them for that. Beyond apologizing to the Martin family, I stand by the words and the substance of the interview,” Cuban wrote. “I think that helping people improve their lives, helping people engage with people they may fear or not understand, and helping people realize that while we all may have our prejudices and bigotries, we have to learn that it’s an issue that we have to control. that it’s part of my responsibility as an entrepreneur to try to solve it.?

[video] Cat Saves Boy From VICIOUS Dog Attack

Gangsta. This cat deserves some type of award if they have those for hero cats.

A boy and his mother were in their front yard, playing and watering the plants. The neighbor’s dog was let out of its backyard enclosure, seemingly by accident. The dog spotted the boy from across the yard and stalked up behind him. The boy never saw the attack coming. The dog clamped on to his leg and began dragging the boy. That’s when the family’s cat took action.

Responding police officers stated that if this had been their own son, the call response would have been for “Shots fired.”

Donald Sterling is a racist. I think that is the consensus across the board from anyone with a half a brain who heard the infamous taped conversations between him and V. Stiviano released a couple of weeks ago to TMZ. But listening to his interview with Anderson Cooper, I have come to realize that the media portrayal that he is some senile crazy rich old man, spewing age old thoughts on race, is a facade created by the mainstream media to shield that systematic racism is alive and well in 2014.

“I’m a good member who made a mistake and I’m apologizing and I’m asking for forgiveness,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview set to air on Monday. “Am I entitled to one mistake, am I after 35 years? I mean, I love my league, I love my partners. Am I entitled to one mistake? It’s a terrible mistake, and I’ll never do it again.”
