Of course the NYPD are a trigger happy bunch and will shoot without provocation at the drop of a hair, but I don’t think she will win in a court of law. Her not properly restraining her dog (a pit bull) before she opened the door will probably sink her case dead in the water.
A grieving dog owner in the Bronx is now planning to sue the NYPD after an officer shot and killed her beloved dog. The deadly encounter was caught on camera in the Belmont section. The dog’s owner opened the door after hearing police in the hall. When the pit bull walked towards an officer, wagging its tail, the officer shot it in the head at point blank range. The owner, Yvonne Rosado, is suing the department and the city. The NYPD says it’s investigating the incident.
