[video] Is Anonymous Starting a Cyber War and Targeting Facebook?

Seems to be some debate on Youtube if this is credible. I guess only time will tell and oddly this attck is supposedly in resonse to the taking down of Mega Upload. The transcript is after the jump.

In the wake of the federal takedown of Megaupload, hacker collective Anonymous has been on a retaliatory spree.
Yesterday, they managed to divert all traffic away from CBS.com, following their takedowns of government sites and Universal Music Group last week.
And according to a video posted this morning on a seemingly Anonymous-affiliated YouTube account, Facebook is their next target. The video encourages people to download a linked program that they can use to attack Facebook.
This isn’t the first time they’ve threatened Facebook, but if this video’s authentic, it means the threat could be acted upon soon. Other sites they’ve mentioned as targets in the past include the United Nations, Xbox Live, U.S. Bank, Twitter, and YouTube.
UPDATE 4:45 p.m. – The Anonymous-affiliated Twitter account @anonops has tweeted that they, at least, will not attack Facebook. (via PCMag)

[video] Anonymous Declares WAR against FEDERAL RESERVE BANK

You might not agree with their methods but they have hit this right on the head in the video below. Huff Post also has an interview with a relatively new member of Anonymous that is really brief, but informative nonetheless.

via Huff Post

Anonymous was going after the Federal Reserve. Even for a group that essentially set off a series of attacks that brought the multinational giant Sony to its knees in April, this seemed like awfully big prey. Yet if you doubt the group’s ability to do damage to a powerful adversary, you probably don’t realize that it’s already landed big blows against some pretty sizable opponents – to begin with, Sony, and MasterCard, and Iran. Or that its members recently broke into the website of HBGary, an internet security firm whose CEO threatened to out Anonymous members, and published 50,000 internal emails and the CEO’s social security number, humiliating him into resigning from the company.

[pic] Twitter Hacked Early This Morning

Wow. You would think Twitter would have a better defense system in place now but that goes to show you who really runs the internet. Story below:

via Huff Post

Twitter was hacked early Friday morning. Visitors to its homepage and domain saw a message from a group calling itself the “Iranian Cyber Army”

Twitter sent out a tweet at about 2:36 a.m. ET, acknowledging that the site’s DNS records were temporarily compromised. It said that the problem was resolved and in a blog post that followed, explained that the site was “redirected for awhile,” but that “API and platform applications were working.”
