Remember when Rick Ross (who is under indictment for assault and kidnapping) had those problems a few years back with the Gangsta Disciples aka the Gd’s?

Screen Shot 2016-05-05 at 11.22.30 AMIn a nutshell the start probably occurred when Ross famously penned the lines “I think I’m a Big Meech, Larry Hoover..” and using the Gangster Disciples gang symbol for one of his mixtapes. They were not enthused.

The indictment also says that in November 2012 the gang threatened a rapper, identified only by the initials “R.R.,” with violence unless he paid them for using the gang’s name and symbols.

Prosecutors declined to identify the artist, but rapper Rick Ross has mentioned the gang in lyrics. Ross canceled shows around the time the threats were made, but he told WEDR radio in Miami in December 2012: “I canceled the rest of the tour due to a promoter, because he wasn’t really handling his business. … Never was it due to any threats.”

Ross’ publicist didn’t immediately respond to an email Wednesday.

ATLANTA — Among the four dozen alleged Gangster Disciples members charged in indictments unsealed Wednesday, one sticks out: An Atlanta-area police officer who prosecutors say claimed to be a hit man for the violent gang and tipped off other members about police activity.

[video] Rick Ross Freed on $2 Million Dollar Bond

They are not playing with William Roberts at all. Kidnapping is a serious charge that comes with hefty time. How will he finagle himself out of this one?

via XXL

Ross and his bodyguard were arrested on June 24 for kidnapping, aggravated assault an aggravated battery charges in Fayette County, Georgia after the two allegedly pistol-whipped a groundskeeper who was working on his home. According to reports, the Florida rapper was having work done on his Fayette County home when he got into an altercation with one of the groundskeepers. The altercation allegedly was sparked because the groundskeeper—who lives on the property—had people over for his birthday in Ross’ house without permission the night before.

[video] Noisey Atlanta – Rich Gang: Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Lose – (Episode 8)

Wonder if Trinidad James gets anything for his phrase “Don’t Believe Me Just Watch” currently anchoring the #1 song in the country “Uptown Funk” from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars? He at least deserves a shout out.

In episode eight of Noisey Atlanta, we examine just how quickly the ups and downs can happen in the trap world. In short, the scene moves fast. To start things off, we meet Bankroll Fresh at a barbershop and talk about the rise of his late summer 2014 hit “Hot Boy.” Then we find ourselves in the studio with the elusive Young Thug before linking with Rich Homie Quan, who tells stories of getting out of jail and eventually forming Rich Gang with Birdman and Thugger (fun fact: RHQ and Young Thug apparently went to middle school together). Later, we catch up with Trinidad Jame$ over a year after the explosion of “All Gold Everything,” showing what can possibly happen to a hyped up rapper after the machine spits ‘em out.

ATL Rapper “Baby D” Bagged on Fed Drug Charges

ATL rapper Baby D arrested on Federal Drug charges.

No more than an hour after I posted the TI story and blasted Bol, another rapper makes me look like a f*cking nutcase.

Allhiphop is reporting that ATL rapper Baby D just got arrested on federal drug charges. I read reports not too long ago that he was poised to release an album on some label in the near future (read the AHH article for info).

My advice..call up TI’s lawyers cause they definetly worked a miracle for him!!
Full AHH Breakdown:
Georgia rapper Baby D is facing federal charges for allegedly trafficking cocaine, following a recent arrest in Dayton, Ohio.

Baby D, born Donald B. Jenkins, vehemently disputes the allegations against him.

He is currently being held without bond in the Butler County jail in Ohio, a facility known for housing people held on federal charges.

In addition to the federal charges, Baby D has three pending assault charges in Tennessee, where he has a bond set.

D4L’s Fabo Cleared Of All Charges

fabo1.jpg

[Source:HipHopDX]

With the explosion of Shawty Lo on the scene, those familiar with his back story were all asking the same question, where the hell is Fabo? That would be Fabo, the eccentric lead rapper from D4L, the progenitors of “Laffy Taffy” and Shawty Lo’s first foray into Hip Hop. Well, we have learned Fabo was duking it out with the law, fighting several charges that stemmed from a traffic stop on I-16 that resulted in his arrest. He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana and possession of methylenedioxymetham. All the charges were tossed after his co-defendant took the weight, receiving 15 years of probation and $3,700 in fines.

Remy Ma Trial: Convicted, TI Trial: Pleads Guilty-UPDATE SEE VIDEO

remyma.jpg

Well it seems that Remy Ma has been convicted by the jury and faces and hell of a long time in the slammer. Its a shame that she will probably spend at least a decade in jail and this will probably end her career. Shameful indeed. According to SOHH, who said their reporters were present in the courtroom when the verdict was handed down, Remy was caught off guard by the outcome.

Her lawyer, Ivan Fisher said, “Remy didn’t expect this…she didn’t tell her eight-year old son, who she left this morning [she would not be returning home].”

Governor of Georgia to Honor Atlanta Musicians

usga38364.jpeg

I guess its true what they say, membership has its privilege.  Apparently living in Atlanta has more perks than easy access to strip clubs.  The governor of Georgia, Sonny Perdue will be holding a ceremony on March 19 in Buckhead at the Governor’s Mansion where he will be honoring the Grammy nominees living in the Peach State.  Falling under that dubious distinction is Akon, Keyshia Cole, Outkast, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Angie Stone, India.Arie, Gnarls Barkley and super producer DJ Toomp.  Toomp, a two-time Grammy winner just snagged another statue for the T-Pain helmed Kanye single, “Good Life.”  Talk about Southern Hospitality!  Can you imagine Elliot Spitzer laying honors on industry leading New Yorkers?  I didn’t think so.  For more on this story CLICK HERE.

How the South Was Won

outkast_.jpg

The good folks over at Fader magazine put together an “excellent” article chronicling the rise of Southern rap and the dynamics that have attributing to it being the premier mecca of Hip Hop in the 21st Century.  The author makes some key analogies and gives props where it just-fully due, right at the doorstep of Outkast and the Dungeon Family, a rap collective that carried the torch after it dimmed with the Native Tongues in New York.  The incorporation of Southern elements mixed in like gumbo in this black metropolis turned what was normally rap songs into international anthems, or better yet bluesy folk songs.  The momentum has never died, and this article illustrates the players who have individually made contributions to the legacy of The A!  I love it when the author points out that in Atlanta’s shadow industry, the A&R has been replaced by the stripper, who single handedly decide whats popping and whats not.  If you want to get a better understanding of the Southern phenomenom that has steered the direction for the better part of the last five to seven years click HERE.

Editor’s Note:As a witness to the South’s rise I have to attest that this is the most thorough analysis of what collectively went in to the formula that allowed The A to bubble to the top.  Let it be noted that Brooklyn was on the scene, lending style(s), hustle aesthetic and teaching Atlanteans the finer points of the game and like an attentive student they came, they learnt and they mastered the art.  Toast them brothers success!  Yeaaahhhhh!
