U.S. News Exclusive: Sony-HBO Plan Obama Documentary

Let’s just say award winning!  Better yet this documentary will eclipse the work of one of his biggest supporters, Michael Moore. Can’t wait to see how they are able to capture probably the biggest story of our lifetime.

You knew it was coming: A movie of Barack Obama’s historic election as the nation’s first African-American president. Sony Pictures tells Whispers that it has acquired the rights to distribute the HBO documentary By t he People: The Election of Barack Obama. In describing the film, the media giants say that the previously untitled flick won’t be just a collage of biographical and campaign video. Added will be interviews with staffers and campaign aides to give us a behind-the-scenes look at life in Obamaland. It ought to be pretty polished: Ed Nortons Class 5 Films did the work.

Michelle Obama Wax Figure Unveiled

via etonline

The First Lady’s wax figure was unveiled Tuesday, alongside the replica of President Barack Obama!

Michelle Obama‘s life-like figure is on display at Madame Tussauds in Washington D.C.

The First Lady’s replica is dressed in Michelle Obama’s classic, elegant style — donning a cherry-red, knee-length belted dress and cardigan.

President Obama’s figure has him smiling wide, showing off his pearly whites in a sleek and classic suit. The two figures are on display in front of a White House backdrop.

WTF? Obama Traveling w/500 Man Entourage to London This Week

via Guardian UK

Britain will get its first chance to see Barack Obama this week when a White House cavalcade – complete with armoured limousines, helicopters, 200 US secret service staff and a six-doctor medical team – sweeps into the UK.

Obama will fly into London for his first visit to the UK as president of theUnited States on Tuesday to take part in the G20 summit in the capital’s Docklands area. He will not be travelling light.

More than 500 officials and staff will accompany the president on his tour this week – along with a mass of high-tech security equipment, including the $300,000 presidential limousine, known as The Beast. Fitted with night-vision camera, reinforced steel plating, tear- gas cannon and oxygen tanks, the vehicle is the ultimate in heavy armoured transport.

In addition, a team from the White House kitchen will travel with the president to prepare his food. As one official put it: “When the president travels, the White House travels with him, right down to the car he drives, the water he drinks, the gasoline he uses, the food he eats. America is still the sole superpower and the president must have the ability to handle any crisis, anywhere, any time.”

US security teams have already carried out three visits to prepare for Obama’s first official visit to Britain. The first was a “site survey”, the second a “pre-advance visit” which was carried out to pick sites that the president would visit. Finally there was the “advance trip”, which took place last week. Its purpose was to set up equipment, sweep venues for electronic bugs, test food for poison and measure air quality for bacteria.

Obama will start his first presidential visit to Europe when he steps down from the US presidential jet, Air Force One, at Stansted airport on Tuesday. The Boeing 747-200B is fitted with its own gym, electronic defence units and shielding to protect its complex communication devices from radiation from nuclear blasts. Among the officials on the flight will be a military officer carrying America’s nuclear missile launch codes. Continue reading

[video] Is Obama Hitler Or The Antichrist? Those Are The Only Two Options

via Huffington Post

The Daily Show’s Jason Jones took a hilarious and frightening look at two religious leaders who think President Obama is either Hitler or the Anti-Christ.  Reverend Daniel W. Blair, a Baptist minister whose likes include, “seeing people snatched from the fire of eternal damnation and transformed by the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,” thinks Obama is “The Beast” who will usher in the end of times.  Pastor James David Manning, on the other hand, thinks the President is Hitler (and also a bisexual…or bicycle).   The key part of the segment though, is the main stream media’s coverage of these men and their “theories.”  Sean Hannity even invited Manning on his show to discuss his Hitler comparison.  Luckily Jones deflates both men skillfully with only a couple of references to Ashton Kutcher, “The Usual Suspects,” and “Howdie Do It.”

US to Help Plan UN Racism Conference

via AP

Let’s keep our fingers crossed, last time they had one of these, somebody knocked down the Towers a few days later, so ironically the developments of that meeting never made the news

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration said late Saturday it would participate in planning for a U.N. conference on racism despite concerns the meeting will be used by Arab nations and others to criticize Israel.

The U.S. will decide later whether to participate in the conference.

The State Department said it would send diplomats next week to participate in preparatory meetings for the World Conference Against Racism, which is set to be held in Geneva, Switzerland in April and which some countries including Israel have already decided to boycott.

During the Bush administration the United States and Israel walked out the first U.N. conference on racism in Durban, South Africa in 2001 over efforts to pass a resolution comparing Zionism — the movement to establish and maintain a Jewish state — to racism.

Those efforts failed but there are signs the resolution may be reintroduced at the so-called “Durban 2” meeting in Geneva and Israel has been actively lobbying the United States and European countries to stay away from this year’s meeting. Continue reading

[audio] Barack Obama vs Christian Bale

This an audio mashup of two of the most viral audio posts on the net this week. One, the rant by Christian Bale on the set of Terminator 4 and the audio of Obama reading from “Dreams of My Father” which is profanity laden. The Republicans are real lame, they could’ve of really killed a remix of Obama’s vocals during the presidential race, which leads me to believe some one was really sleeping at the wheel.

Kudos to the Blast Master. Every system needs Checks & Balances. Like I said before lets see how quick they are to distance themselves from the “Teacher” and label him crazy but nobody will dare step up to debate the facts upon which he is professing. This should be interesting. We use to always say KRS-ONE is the last dude you want on the opposing team.

White House Lawyers Look to Limit Commercial Use of President

via Yahoo

Jan. 30 (Bloomberg) — Barack Obama’s popularity makes him a marketer’s dream. Now, the honeymoon may be over for those trying to profit from his appeal.

White House lawyers want to control the use of the president’s image, recognizing the worldwide fascination about Obama’s election, First Amendment free-speech rights and easy access to videos and photos on the Web.

“Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Obama’s calls for change and his “Yes We Can” campaign mantra are being evoked to sell assembly-required furniture in Ikea’s “Embrace Change” marketing campaign, bargain airfares during Southwest Airlines Inc.’s “Yes You Can” sale and “Yes Pecan” ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc. shops.

“I can’t remember this ever happening to an active politician before, as a spokesperson or as an image for a brand,” said Brad Adgate, director of research for Horizon Media Inc., a New York-based advertising agency. “He’s in the highest profile of any person in the world right now.”

Riding the wave of Obama’s popularity may become a concern when advertisers use his likeness without permission to imply that Obama is endorsing a product or cause. The White House through the years has objected to commercial use of presidential faces, such as footage of President George H.W. Bush in a Cold War-themed 1989 television ad for cold medication. Obama gets Mad mag treatment

via The Swamp

We all know that President Barack Obama has assumed the presidency at a time when that pressure cooker of a job is even more so right now because of the worst recession since the Great Depression and two foreign wars.

So Mad Magazine’s new Obama cover spoofs the notion of the president’s first 100 days but accelerates it to his first “100 minutes.”

The caricature shows a completely stressed-out Obama puffing on several cancer sticks simultaneously as he holds his head in his hands. (That’s what happens when the world knows your’re a reformed smoker who admits to occasional lapses.) An open bottle of Pepto Bismol is on the desk, as is a bottle of Excedrin.

Meanwhile, splayed out on the desk before Obama are newspapers (including the Chicago Tribune!) with blaring headlines like “Automakers Broke!” “Taliban Threat!” and “Dow Crashes!”

The only thing the artist missed was the chance to take a swipe at the president for those those Alfred E. Newman ears of his. Talk about your low-hanging fruit.

Separately, Mad will have a lot fewer cracks at Obama. DC Comics, Mad’s publisher, has announced that the magazine will be published on a quarterly basis instead of monthly, thanks to the economy and the advertising revenue woes afflicting the entire media industry.

Guantánamo Detainee Resurfaces in Terrorist Group

via IHT

BEIRUT: The emergence of a former Guantánamo Bay detainee as the deputy leader of Al Qaeda’s Yemeni branch has underscored the potential complications in carrying out the executive order that President Barack Obama signed that the detention center be shut down within a year.

The militant, Said Ali al-Shihri, is suspected of involvement in a deadly bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Yemen’s capital, Sana, in September. He was released to Saudi Arabia in 2007 and passed through a Saudi rehabilitation program for former jihadists before resurfacing with Al Qaeda in Yemen.

His status was announced in an Internet statement by the militant group and was confirmed by a U.S. counterterrorism official. “They’re one and the same guy,” said the official, who insisted on anonymity because he was discussing an intelligence analysis. “He returned to Saudi Arabia in 2007, but his movements to Yemen remain unclear.” Continue reading

Obama’s First Air Force One Trip: Comments On Pilot’s Looks, Orders Dinner (VIDEO)

Via Huffington Post

Only the best.

In this segment from National Geographic’s upcoming TV series “On Board Air Force One,” President Obama boards his first flight on Air Force One–from Chicago to Washington, D.C., when he was still president-elect. He greets the pilot and says “You’re the pilot of Air Force One? I’ve got to say, you’re out of central casting. You’re exactly what I want the pilot of Air Force One to look like. You look like Sam Shepard in ‘The Right Stuff’.”

He’s then offered his first Air Force One meal. After a quick glance at the menu, Obama says he wants “to see how you guys do a burger,” cooked medium-well, with cheddar cheese, dijon mustard (Grey Poupon–which he also likes in his tuna salad–will do), with lettuce and tomato. He also requests some salad or vegetables. When the waiter asks, “No fries?” He replies, “Oh, I’ll still take the fries.”

[video] Kissinger: Perfect Time for Obama to Usher in “New World Order”

Somebody has got to watch these ‘Sly Foxes.’  While the house is burning keep ya eye on the chicken coup because that’s where you’ll find those conniving foxes.  This “Deacon of Death” Henry Kissinger continuosly openly refers to Obama ushering in the purported “New World Order” style of government that conspiracy theorists have been theorizing about for so long. I understand that some of these scenarios are so outlandish that they don’t deserve any decent time on a respectable site such as this, but when you see the board being laid out, step-by-step in accordance with these sinister plots you’ve been hearing about for over a decade, you gotta sit up and take notice.  To make matters worst, Kissinger is repeatedly thumbing his nose and referring to these plans in open because as far as they’re concerned they’ve already got this thing wrapped up.  See you at the inauguaration!!

2008 Military Times Poll: Wary about Obama

A Commander-in-Chief needs the faith of the military in order to effectively lead, yet another challenge PE Obama will have to conquer.

via Military Times

When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.

In follow-up interviews, respondents expressed concerns about Obama’s lack of military service and experience leading men and women in uniform.

“Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief,” said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.

For eight years, members of the U.S. military have served under a Republican commander in chief who reflected their generally conservative views and led them to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now, the troops face change not only at the very top of the chain of command, as Obama nears his Jan. 20 inauguration, but perhaps in mission, policy and values.

Underlying much of the uncertainty is Obama’s stated 16-month timetable for pulling combat troops out of Iraq, as well as his calls to end the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy to allow gays to serve openly in the military, according to survey responses and interviews. Continue reading

Obama- Inspired Hope Goes Only so Far in Kenya

via LA Times

Reporting from Kobama, Kenya — He’s from the same family that produced President-elect Barack Obama. He shares many of the same hopes and dreams. He’s even got the same name.

This Barack Obama, 26, a cousin who was named after the president-elect’s Kenyan father, was elated when someone with African roots rose to the world’s most powerful job.

“I felt I could do anything,” said the lanky student, whose buddies now call him “the President” after his famous U.S. relative. “I felt anything is possible.”

There is no question the U.S. president-elect’s victory has encouraged countless Africans to reach for new heights. But as the euphoria over his election begins to fade here, young Africans are beginning to see his inspirational story as bittersweet. Continue reading

Not for those with weak stomachs.  He held on to this purposely during the election as to not hurt Barack Obama, because the media would have found a way to connect Obama to this fiery speech.  Do people really want to hear this now or since we have a new president and we have to start anew is this the old way of making people aware?

[Op-Ed] Obama is NO King

by Black Agenda Report

“The cheap artwork and mindless sentimentality that seeks to elevate Obama to the level of King and Malcolm X is an affront to the memory of those men.”

In 2009, the official celebration of Martin Luther King’s birthday will take place on January 19th. Barack Obama will be inaugurated president of the United States on the following day. Obama’s election is seen by many as the fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream of a just society providing equal rights to all of its citizens. Despite the frenzied and dishonest efforts to link the two men, it is clear that Obama’s elevation to power symbolizes not that King’s hopes have been realized, but that they have been dashed.

It is right that King’s birth should be celebrated as a national holiday. Unfortunately the nature of that celebration does little to tell us what King’s actual achievements were or how they should be remembered. The man who is continually painted as a mere starry eyed dreamer was anything but. He did not want to end segregation solely for the purpose of elevating black people into high positions, as the Obama worshippers would have us believe. King never strayed from his goal of giving every American full citizenship rights, ending grinding poverty, and making the United States act as a force for justice in the world.

Despite the enormous odds against him, King succeeded in unleashing the pent up anger and righteous demands of millions of oppressed people. Because of those demands, President Lyndon Johnson and other politicians were forced to reckon with that movement and with King himself. Not only were the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act enacted because of popular pressure, but the very nature of American political life and society changed in ways that are still being felt. Iran Accuses Barack Obama of ‘Cowboy Talk’

via Telegraph UK

Iran’s conservative parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani has branded US President-Elect Barack Obama’s comments on Tehran’s nuclear activities as “cowboy” talk, the ISNA news agency reported.”These comments resemble those of old American cowboys. If you have something to say about (Iran’s) nuclear issue, just say so. Why wave a stick,” asked Mr Larijani, in a speech in Qazvin province.

“The new US president has said he wants to pressure Iran since it seeks to produce atomic weapons and because it supports the terrorists like Hamas and Hizbollah,” he added.

“We are proud of supporting Hizbollah since they are defending their homeland and you are wrong in calling them terrorists.”

Iran is a staunch supporter of the Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese militant group Hizbollah.

In an interview broadcast on Sunday, Mr Obama vowed “tough but direct diplomacy” with Iran, offering incentives along with the threat of tougher sanctions over its atomic programme. Continue reading

MPAA Asks Obama for More Copyright Surveillance of the Internet

via Boing Boing

As part of their commitment to transparent and open government, the Obama Transition Team is posting the lobbying agendas of the groups it meets with for public review and comment. One of the more interesting documents to be found there is the Motion Picture Association of America’s “international trade” agenda.

Some of the MPAA’s agenda is reasonable, such as cracking down on commercial optical disc piracy. But much of it, if adopted, would result in a substantially less free and safe internet, at little or no actual benefit to the artists and workers the MPAA claims to represent.

Of course, this may not be immediately clear when reading the document, since it’s all couched in DC lobbyist-speak. Here, then, is a guide to understanding what’s really being talked about.

“Achieving inter-industry cooperation in the fight against online piracy, including through automated detection and removal of infringing content is imperative to curb the theft of online content…

This kind of automated-detection technology has long been a favorite fantasy of the MPAA and affiliates. They’ve pushed for it on US campuses, in US states, in US trade law [PDF], and in Europe, so it’s hardly surprising to see them pushing for country-wide requirements at the federal level. The Metaphysical/Philosophical Review of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

Rarely does a cinematic event come along that makes the Earth stand still.  For me, when I heard that NASA will be beaming this feature into space with the hopes that it reaches the Galactic Center in 2012 (when Earth will be aligned with the center) I was determined to see what the hell was so special about this release.  Then when I took note that it was being dropped on the last full month of the year (in Gemini, the communicator) I said there is definitely something more to this flick than just a random release which had to be so carefully planned as to coincide with these celestial events.  So, at 12:01 a.m. there I was seeing Keanu Reeves reprise his role as Neo, his most famous Christ archetype (you know, Saviour of the world).  The only twist is in The Matrix he was sent to save Zion and all of its inhabitants.  This time around he was sent to save the Earth and do away with all of its inhabitants.  Interestingly enough, the film started off on the Karakoram Mountains, in India, which to some is just another random location but to the student of metaphysics, we refer to that as the “K2 resonator” ( a portal between dimensions). k2

Whenever this symbology is invoked you can be sure that some references to the Great Pyramids or The Ark of Noah aren’t too far behind and this film doesn’t fall short with not one, but both iconic symbols popping up all over this flick.

Keanu makes his return to Earth via an orb of light landing in the middle of Central Park (Great Lawn), somewhat like how Kevin Spacey traveled here in K-PAX (Kevin got here on “angles” of light) and interestingly enough they both voice the same sentiments about their critique of humans and their threat to the fragile balance of the universe.  locust

The Galactical Confederacy has decided that a planet as precious as Gaia (Earth) and her life sustaining properties is way too important to lose to the carelessness of humans who currently inhabit her surface, so as liberators they have decided to do away with the species in order to save the planet.

Colin Powell: “Can we continue to listen to Rush Limbaugh?”

Finally someone steps up and checks that fat racist Rush Limbaugh who flames the fire of racism in all his rants and gets a check for $400 million dollars as reward. He does nothing but stoke racial tension and probably  prays something awful would happen to President-elect Obama. I say we take him and bbq his fat ass and feed him to the rednecks & racists who follow his every word.

via CNN Blog

(CNN) — The Republican party must stop “shouting at the world” and start listening to minority groups if it is to win elections in the 21st century, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Thursday.

In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria for Sunday’s “GPS” program, President Bush’s former secretary of state said his party’s attempt “to use polarization for political advantage” backfired last month.

“I think the party has to take a hard look at itself,” Powell said in the interview, which was taped Wednesday. “There is nothing wrong with being conservative. There is nothing wrong with having socially conservative views — I don’t object to that. But if the party wants to have a future in this country, it has to face some realities. In another 20 years, the majority in this country will be the minority.”

Powell, who crossed party lines and endorsed President-elect Barack Obama just weeks before the election, said the GOP must see what is in the “hearts and minds” of African-American, Hispanic and Asian voters “and not just try to influence them by… the principles and dogma.”

“I think the party has to stop shouting at the world and at the country,”Powell said. “I think that the party has to take a hard look at itself, and I’ve talked to a number of leaders in recent weeks and they understand that.” Powell, who says he still considers himself a Republican, said his party should also stop listening to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

“Can we continue to listen to Rush Limbaugh?” Powell asked. “Is this really the kind of party that we want to be when these kinds of spokespersons seem to appeal to our lesser instincts rather than our better

Obama to Make Address in Muslim Capital after Inauguration

via Yahoo

WASHINGTON, (AFP) – President-elect Barack Obama plans to give “a major address” in an Islamic capital soon after taking office as he seeks to mend America’s image in the Muslim world, a Chicago Tribune interview said.obama_at_podium

“I think we’ve got a unique opportunity to reboot America’s image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,” Obama said in the interview published late Tuesday on the Tribune’s website.

Obama promised an “unrelenting” desire to “create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together.”

The world “is ready for that message.”

While he described a fresh approach to diplomacy, Obama said his administration would not shrink from the struggle against terrorism, referring to the recent attacks on India’s financial capital. Continue reading

[Op Ed] What Do the Clintons Have on Obama?

via Salon

Dec. 10, 2008 | Roads and bridges! What joy. Last week’s announcement by President-elect Barack Obama of his massive public works initiative to stimulate the economy won loud applause from me. Not only does the decaying U.S. infrastructure need emergency attention but construction commissions will be far more substantive and enduring than the half-mythical 5 million “green” jobs that Obama was airily promising before the election.

But then I gulped when Obama also pledged educational reform by putting state-of-the-art computers in every classroom. Groan. Computers alone will never solve the educational crisis in this country: They are tools and facilitators, not primary conveyors of knowledge. Packing his team with shiny Harvard retreads, Obama missed a golden opportunity to link his public works project with a national revalorization of the trades. Practical training in hands-on vocational skills is desperately needed in this country, where liberal arts education has become a soggy boondoggle, obscenely expensive and diluted by propaganda and groupthink. Rev. Wright Calls “The View” Co-Host a “Dumb Broad”

via Greta Wire

President-elect Barack Obama made a “bad decision” by distancing himself from the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his church, Wright said Sunday – but that’s OK.

“He’s still my child,” Wright said in a sermon in which he expressed pride in Obama’s longtime association with Trinity United Church of Christ.

His talk was spiced with his trademark blend of history lesson, mimicry, singing, and – depending on your point of view – insults, or telling it like it is. One object of contempt seemed to be Elisabeth Hasselbeck of ABC’s “The View,” whom – while not saying her name – Wright twice referred to as a “broad,” including once as “that dumb broad.” Hasselbeck has criticized Wright on “The View.” Continue reading

School Buds: 20 Harvard Classmates Advising Obama

via Politico

As Barack Obama puts together his administration, more than 20 Harvard Law School classmates dot the ranks of his transition team — solidifying the Crimson connection as his most enduring, yet least-known, personal network. 081205_obama_brown1

Eyeing the presidency as a freshman senator, Obama turned to his classmates first for their high-level contacts, and then to help raise campaign cash. Now, they’re putting their day jobs on the backburner to help their friend build a government.

“If you think about the progression of the president-elect’s national career, initially he didn’t have a national network of people who he could call on,” said Cassandra Butts, general counsel for the transition. “The Harvard group was helpful on that front — helping him make introductions on policy, political and financial fronts.”

Besides Butts, other top Harvard grads around Obama include Chris Lu, who will serve as Obama’s liaison with Cabinet departments; Tom Perrelli, who works on the Justice Department transition team; and Julius Genachowski and Michael Froman, who sit on the 12-member Transition Advisory Board.

Turning to decades-old personal relationships is nothing new for presidents. But the depth of Obama’s Harvard ties is notable, potentially outstripping the levels seen during alum John F. Kennedy’s administration, said Julian Zelizer, a presidential historian at Princeton University. “The numbers seem very large to me,” he said. Continue reading
