[video] More Black People Died from Lynching than on 9/11…

Thom Hartmann comments on a New York Times piece that lays out the number of blacks killed by lynching and asks why we don’t question the “white Christian terrorists”?

Funny that President Obama discussed the history of killings in the name of Christianity during the Crusades in comparison to ISIS, but failed to mention this same terrorism was omnipresent during slavery and Jim Crow Era…

NIKE is honoring Black History Month with Black History Month Collection?!!

Still trying to understand the Black History tie-in outside of them just promoting the same stars already under contract. Would be great if they could actually honored non-traditional Black History Heroes instead of just heaping more praise on Lebron, KD, and Melo. They say the proceeds will be given to charity though it seems to be scant on details. Here is what their press release states:

One hundred percent of net proceeds (up to $1 million) generated by the 2014 BHM Collection during the month of February will go to the new NIKE Ever Higher Fund, a donor advised fund administered by Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America), a national 501(c)3 public charity.

Nike Black History Month Air Force 1

nike-air-force-1-black-history-month-20091-540x457

Nike has been releasing BHM sneakers and this time around it looks like they got it right in terms of colors used & placement. The green & red stitching accent them lovely. The only BS part about the shoes is they will not be releasing to the public. I’ll take a stab & say they’ll end up on the feet of Wayne Brady-types instead of truly deserving Black folks like myself & my cousin June June.
