Still on the fence about Freeway Rick aka The Real Rick Ross and the damage he caused the black community and how it decimated black families for decades. But these Vlad TV interviews are fascinating and how matter of factly he speaks about the drug trade.
Former drug kingpin Freeway “Ricky” served nearly 15 years of what was originally a life sentence for his involvement in the Iran-Contra during the Reagan administration. After he was released from jail for a separate case, fellow drug lord Oscar Danilo Blandón reached out to him for one last job. At this point Ricky had stopped selling cocaine, but was asked to introduce Blandon to a deal, which ultimately turned out to be faulty. “People’s head are popping up at out cars and it was a set up,” Freeway Ricky says of the day he was arrested for his ties to the Contras. “I wanted a 20-year deal, and they offered me a plea where I plead guilty, and if the judge wanted to give me 20 she could. If she wanted to give me life, she could. I said ‘Nah, I’ll take my chance on appeal.'”
Gangsta Gibbs jumps on the heater from Yeezy and Kendrick and gives them a both a run for their money on what he renamed “Cocaine Parties in L.A.”
Don’t be fooled by this people this is just window dressing. The Prison Industrial Complex is in effect and moving right along incarcerating thousands upon thousands each day with no plan for rehabilitation.
President Barack Obama has commuted the sentences of 46 drug offenders, citing his belief that “America is a nation of second chances.” CNN’s Jim Acosta reports.
By his own admission it is safe to say these are the culprits behind rampant lean use in hip hop today which has lead to the premature deaths of some the genre’s most prominent figures((Asap Yams been the most recent). Drink that poison at your own peril. The fact he blows the lid off cocaine use and squeaky clean Rapper Nelly recently get busted for felony drug charges including possession of meth shows Hip hop’s dirty little secret is rearing its ugly head once again.
Perez with hubby Juan Perez (l.) and rap superstar Jay Z. SIPKIN, COREY
When asked by Sway on his relationship with Jay Z, Dame unloads on Jay Z’s close relationship with a Desiree Perez who is a known DEA informant and according to reports works closely with athletes in Roc Nation Sports. Perez is the wife of longtime business partner OG Juan, who is rarely seen and never does interviews.
via DAILY NEWS
Court records obtained by The News show Perez was part of a massive cocaine distribution case in 1994. Following her arrest, she became a key government cooperator, going undercover to help the DEA build successful cases against major traffickers in Puerto Rico and Colombia.
Cooperation with the feds won her supervised release, but she went on the lam and then served nine months in prison.
Perez was a 26-year-old mother of young children in 1994 when she was arrested in New York for possession with intent to distribute 35 kilograms of cocaine, according to court records reviewed by The News.
SKIP to 54:30 for his stance on Jay Z.
Federal authorities charged she was part of a drug conspiracy stretching from New York to Florida to Puerto Rico.
She and co-defendant Amaury Lopez faced at least 10 years in prison (Lopez was supposedly one of at least three men to marry Perez since the late 1980s).
That headline is a bit misleading. It is actually the story of Gary Webb who discovered how the C.I.A was implicit in the drug trade and using the likes of the real Rick Ross to funnel massive amounts of drugs into the country and using the profits to fund various wars.
Two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner (“The Bourne Legacy”) leads an all-star cast in a dramatic thriller based on the remarkable true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb. Webb stumbles onto a story which leads to allegations that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profits to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua. Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications — and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but his family and his life.

Still trying to wrap my head around this story because Buju should have known better and just seems like this would be the dumbest thing in the world to do.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton has pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in a Florida federal court.
Banton was arraigned Thursday on a charge of conspiring to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover law enforcement officer in Sarasota last month. The 36-year-old singer, born Mark Myrie, did not seek bail. If he bonded out of jail, he would be held by immigration officials.
Okay Lindsay you better get clean this year like you said or jokes like these will go on forever.

Here’s the latest smack on taxpayers.
The city spent $32,000 on 70,000 fliers that tell you how to shoot heroin, complete with detailed tips on prepping the dope and injecting it into your arm.
The Health Department handout has outraged New York’s top drug prosecutors and abuse experts.
Wow. This is shocking. Buju Banton is probably the last reggae artist that I would associate with selling drugs especially cocaine.
Maybe in his wild younger days, but now seems to be really out of his character. Hopefully this is not true and he can resume his career and stay away from negativity. Story below:
First, reggae singer Buju Banton was in the news this month because of his best reggae album Grammy nomination. More on that later.
Now Banton, a Jamaican performer whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, is in federal prison in Miami, the Miami Herald reports.
He’s been in custody since Thursday, arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess, with intent to distribute, more than 5 kilograms of cocaine, a DEA spokesman said.

The Royal Navy says it has seized its biggest haul of cocaine, estimating its street value at £240m ($380m).
The Portsmouth-based frigate HMS Iron Duke seized more than five-and-a-half tonnes of the drug from a 138ft fishing boat off the coast of Colombia.
The Royal Navy and US Coastguard jointly intercepted the boat after it was spotted by a navy helicopter crew.
Armed Forces Minister Bill Rammell praised the operation for “damaging the trade in this vile substance”.

The authorities in six German states have ordered retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola energy drinks after traces of cocaine were found in it.
The recall came after a sample analysis conducted in North-Rhine Westphalia found one litre of the drink contained 0.4 micrograms of the banned substance.
Officials said the cocaine levels were too low to pose a health threat but were not permitted in foodstuffs.
Red Bull said its cola was “harmless and marketable” in both the US and EU.
The company said coca leaf extracts were used worldwide as a natural flavoring, and that its own tests had found no traces of cocaine. Continue reading
A police chase in Peñitas ends in a load of drugs, but what police say they’ve never seen is what the smugglers wrote on the bundles of marijuana.
Peñitas Police Chief Oscar Ontiveros says written on top of some of the packages were the words “Obama-USA” and “Obama-USA, Calderon-Mexico.”
Investigators say the message may have something to do with President Obama’s recent trip to Mexico.
Ontiveros says, “I think they’re trying to mock the president’s efforts to fight drugs.”
The drugs will be turned over to state or federal agents for further investigation.

In what can arguably be considered a hip-hop public service announcement, Malice – one half of the Virgina rap duo Clipse – put out a short video on his newly launched blog to address his real life versus the drug-dealing life he rhymes about.
As previously reported Anthony “Geezy” Gonzalez, an associate of the Clipse, was recently indicted for running a $10 million drug ring in Virgina Beach.
Without specifically mentioning the situation, Malice released a Vlog speaking about how his rap verses are more fantasy than reality. “There’s a lot of foolishness in hip-hop as my grandmother would say,” he said. “And I just want to say that I am and have been a part of the problem, the thing about it is I need foolishness in my hip-hop, I need foolishness in my movies. I happen to like that. To me a movie is not good unless you got some bricks being moved or a few people get killed.” Continue reading
Former Clipse manager and nightclub owner Anthony “Geezy” Gonzalez has been charged in U.S. District Court with running a $10 million a year drug ring.
According to federal documents, Gonzalez’s 6 year drug empire has allegedly moved 100 pounds of cocaine and over a ton of marijuana through Hampton Roads, Virginia since 2003.
Authorities suspect Gonzalez imported the drugs from Panama Florida, California, and Arizona.
The 82-count indictment states that Gonzalez laundered drug money through several front businesses, including the Clipse’s booking agency Soul Providers Management.
The federal document elaborates that the defendants painted “themselves out as music producers, rappers, entrepreneurs, club owners, clothing designers and other legitimate occupations in order to conceal the true source of their income.” Continue reading

A British woman who allegedly hid cocaine under her wig has been arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling in Norway.
An airport customs officer noticed the 32-year-old had ‘a lot of hair’.
Closer examination revealed a one kilogram (2.2lb) bag of cocaine glued to her head under a hairpiece.
The Verdens Gang newspaper said the drug was glued so firmly to the woman’s real hair that police had to take her to hospital to have it removed.
A spokesman for Norway’s customs service said: ‘During a conversation with the woman, a customs official noticed she had a lot of hair and thought she was wearing a wig.
‘The woman and the drugs were later handed to police.’
The unnamed woman was stopped at Vaernes airport, near Trondheim, after flying in from Copenhagen on Sunday evening.
A court has remanded her until July 15.
As the feds get smarter and more sophisticated so do Colombia drug smugglers. This cat and mouse game has gone on for years with no real progress or dent made in cocaine consumption in the United States. Reports have now surfaced that submarines carrying tons of coke are in the waters headed to our shore lines. Read more:
“It’s significant. We believe they can carry upwards of eight or 10 tons of cocaine,” said Rear Admiral Joseph Nimmich, director of the Joint Interagency Task Force South in Key West, Florida, where military and government agencies track drug shipments.
Experts estimate 25 to 40 semi-subs left South America last year laden with cocaine, and they expect that figure to double in 2008.

Editors note: With candy-flavored cocaine and now Hello Kitty kilos, I guess the guys in the drug trade have a weird sense of humor.
This is definetly a surprising and shocking story about some cocaine found in California. The coke seems to be have given a recognizable candy flavor. This seems puzzling because cocaine is not ingested, so the allure of a candy taste is weird. The article below seeks to explain the attraction of sweet cocaine.
Federal drug agents say candy-flavored cocaine is a new and troubling development and are hoping to keep it from spreading to the rest of the country after its recent emergence in California.
Cocaine cut with an added flavoring is less potent, but the 1½ pounds seized last month were a full-strength powder into which strawberry, coconut, lemon and cinnamon flavoring had been chemically synthesized.
“Attempting to lure new, younger customers to a dangerous drug by adding candy flavors is an unconscionable marketing technique,” Taylor said. He said it was vital that law enforcement authorities work together quickly to shut down operations that could spread the new drug to other parts of the country.

A lawsuit filed on Friday against a Hollywood photo agency says two of its paparazzi supplied actor Heath Ledger with cocaine so they could secretly videotape him snorting the drug in a hotel room two years ago.
The suit says footage of the Ledger encounter, a portion of which aired briefly on two U.S. television shows days after his death in January — prompting an outcry in Hollywood — was sold to media outlets around the world, some in Britain and his native Australia.
The lawsuit claims the video has generated more than $1 million in revenues that should be forfeited under a California state law that requires paparazzi to disgorge any profits obtained through illegal activity.

Okay this right here is definetly a no-brainer, an energy drink that utilizes a marketing plan that resembles a highly addictive drug like cocaine and is in powder form.
Now for all the flack given to gangsterism in rap music [as noted in the A.Keys post] this has to be one of the worst campaigns and if this is not taken off the shelves, I do not want to hear one word about gangsta rap anymore from any of you. Energy drinks are one thing, but a table filled with white powder is another.

“I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice,” states Bobby

PLIES HIT WITH $10 MILLION LAWSUIT
An incident from 2006 is coming back to haunt Florida based artist Plies in the form of a $10 million lawsuit. The plaintiffs, totaling five in number, are alleging that Plies, his record label Slip-N-Slide Records, 283 West, a Gainesville club and others are all responsible for a shooting that took place at a Plies show. They claim that members of Plies entourage started firing pistols into the crowd after Plies microphone was cut off so Lil Boosie can take the stage. The following events took place in regards to the incident:
Two members of Plies’ entourage – his brother Ronell Lavatte, 31 at the time, and then 21-year-old Tory Carnegie – were accused of firing at least three rounds and charged with attempted murder. Upon completing a search of their vehicle, police found five loaded firearms and additional rounds of ammunition. Plies and another member of his entourage, Keon Mc. Rae, were then charged with illegal possession of a concealed weapon. Plies later pled no contest to the charge.
