This tragedy gets more tragic as more information about the incident comes out.
“Prior to the actions that lead to Mr. Smith’s death, my client was involved in a hit and run,” John Fuller said. “Someone hit him and failed to pull over. My client trailed behind this person in an effort to get their license plate number. My client also called 911.”
Fuller says Hayes is not guilty and that he “felt threatened.” He also claims the presence of a second gun will help exonerate his client.

ESPN will never be the same without this true game changer. Hip Hop’s first sports anchor will truly be missed.

Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, died Sunday morning at the age of 49.
King James discusses the multi-billion dollar the NBA just signed with ESPN and TNT and basically in a nutshell he wants the players to receive more cut of profits and is not buying this time around that NBA owners crying that they are losing money. In this interview he stresses that he wants players to be educated on getting a better deal.
After the shitstorm that ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith caused on Friday with his comments regarding the punishment Baltimore Raven’s player Ray Rice for his assault of his wife in an elevator (who admittedly said she assaulted him first) very few jumped to his defense. View moderator and host Whoopi Goldberg took a stance defending Stephen A. Smith and made the bold statement that ” If You Hit a Man Don’t Be Surprised if He Hits Back ” on Monday’s broadcast.
Did we see any other draftees kissing anyone after they were drafted? Seems really weird and staged. Michael Sam can do whatever he pleases behind closed doors but throwing his homosexual lifestyle literally down the throat of NFL fans on television was sure to backfire.
This brother brings light to this situation that is 100% the truth.

Earlier today NBA player Jason Collins admitted in an forthcoming Sports Illustrated interview that he was gay. Reaction was swift with a lot of support but there are those who are sticking to guns when it comes to homosexuality. Espn’s Chris Broussard spoke candidly about why he believes that Collins is ‘living in unrepentant sin”.
Probably the worst injury ever seen in a college basketball game. A close-up shot of the injury is after the cut. Once again this is not for the skeamish.
Can’t back you on this one Steven A. Smith.
Are you ready for some racism? This is what happens when you ask someone with a cowboy hat about someone black (totally lifted that line from Twitter). Kudos to ESPN for reacting to this dumb statement and yanking this fool’s opening theme from tonight’s game. Here is the video below:
“While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to ‘Monday Night Football,'” ESPN said in a statement. “We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”
I immediately followed him once the account was live and could not wait to see what Black mamba would bring to the Twitterverse. Well it seems somebody in Kobe’s camp jump the gun. Read below:

In a brief period of a couple of hours on Wednesday evening, Bryant launched a Twitter account, amassed more than 35,000 followers and then abruptly shut the account down.
Funny thing is this song and dance has definitely gone mainstream and does anybody even know what the kids look like who made it? Me either. Good to see Dougie Fresh finally getting some shine of this because the dance has been super popular for some years now. Note to old white men please do not ‘Dougie’ you look ridiculous and females will run from you like the plague.

Sorry folks I am with Jesse on this one. Who the f*ck is Dan Gilbert to say things about a guy who did everything in his power for his team to win and played hard night in and night out. This guy is a total asshole.
“ His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract. ” — Rev. Jesse Jackson on Cavs owner Dan Gilbert’s comments about LeBron James
via ESPN
Shortly after James announced his decision last week, Gilbert fired off an incendiary letter to Cleveland’s fans, ripping the 25-year-old and promising to deliver a title before James wins one. He called James’ decision “cowardly” and later told The Associated Press he believes James quit during a handful of Cavaliers playoff games.
“He has gotten a free pass,” Gilbert told the AP in a phone interview late Thursday night. “People have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is.”

“I’ve been saying this for years: He’s a psychological coward who doesn’t want to fight anybody who has a chance of beating him,” Arum said. “He walked away from a rematch with Oscar (De La Hoya) that would have paid him a fortune because De La Hoya held him close in the first fight (in May 2007).”
I guess you bloggers may have prematurely put Iverson out to pasture because this sounds like it is gonna happen. Iverson’s pride alone will not let him retire at this time.
It appears that the Philadelphia 76ers are re-thinking their stance about bringing back franchise icon Allen Iverson.
After first reporting Iverson’s intention to retire earlier this week, longtime Iverson confidant Stephen A. Smith reported early Saturday that the Sixers, according to team sources, were giving deep consideration to making Iverson an offer.
“It’s being seriously considered,” one team official told Smith in an article for FoxSports.com.
A team official told ESPN.com on Friday that the Sixers did not intend to pursue Iverson in the wake of a broken jaw that has sidelined starting guard Lou Williams for eight weeks, preferring to give Williams’ minutes to rookie Jrue Holiday.
According to Smith’s latest report, Sixers coach Eddie Jordan is one of several key figures in the organization who supports Iverson’s return.

I am officially no longer a Steve A. Smith fan. His comments went off the deep end. For him to suggest that racism is not a factor in this country and that we have escaped the past history of slavery and discrimination is unbelievable.I understand his critiques of President Obama but his baseless reasoning leaves a pit in the stomach.

First off I am not a fan of Geraldo or Bo Dietl.
Secondly,I do believe there is something really fishy about this story. How could somebody score footage twice in a hotel of her naked and not get caught? Trust me her managers are negotiating with Playboy as we speak and if she does it she will say she did the spread to take back control of her career. Yeah just google it and you can see what all the fuss is about.

I apologize for being away from the blog for a while, but things have been crazy with the tour and everything. Now, I’ve got a little break from music and I’m going to be going on my own little NBA playoff tour, which should mean more blogs in the next few weeks.
Just so no one gets it twisted: the Lakers are winning the NBA Finals. Now that KG is out, the C’s aren’t gonna go anywhere, which is a shame. You always like to have the defending champs in there to fight like hell to hold on to their crown. Doc Rivers doesn’t want to believe it. And as competitive as KG is, I can’t imagine even being around him right now — how frustrated he must be because all he wants to do is get out on that court. He’s probably breaking stuff in his house, he’s so mad.
Anyway, so now we’re looking at a Lakers versus Cavaliers final, and that’s going to be amazing. Kobe won’t get the best of LeBron, but the Lakers will get the best of the Cavs. I’ll be rooting for the Lakers, and LeBron already knows that. So it’s not like I’m gonna show up in a Kobe jersey and make ‘Bron Bron cry. He knows I’ve been a Laker fan my whole life so it’s all good. That don’t mean he likes it, but he ain’t gonna cry when he sees me at the games screaming for Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza.
But LeBron will be OK. He’s gonna win the MVP this year. That will be his consolation prize. Phil Jackson and the Lakers will walk away with more rings, but LeBron will get his trophy. Shout out to Tex Winter (the Lakers assistant), too, because it’s his last season and he’s the amazing brain behind the triangle offense. Some day, I will move to Los Angeles and live out my destiny to become a true loyal Lakers fan at every home game like Jack Nicholson. I will live next to Hugh Hefner and I will be at the Staples Center nightly, because that is my destiny. Continue reading

A reporter for Sportsnet, Canada’s version of ESPN, didn’t realize he was beaming out live when he said a dirty word to camera during a segment this week. He slipped up while discussing the Flames/Blackhawks game, but instead of continuing on he stopped, said “c**ksucker” and shook his head in a reproachful manner. Then said nothing.
With all of these introspective looks into our iconic greats, past & present (MJ, Tyson & Lebron) I’m hoping that upcoming athletes, rappers, professionals and students are taking note. These men are testaments to hard work, perseverance and determination. Now they are offering up the keys to their success.

Lil Wayne has just signed on with ESPN to write a blog series about his thoughts on the latest and greatest in sports news. Wayne states “This is the first blog I’m doing for ESPN. I don’t watch nothing but sports—no movies, no news, no television shows—so I thought this would be fun.” Who knew Lil Wayne was such a sports fan, we always thought his only interests were tattoos in strange places and drinking “the lean” out of paper cups.
An excerpt from his latest blog posting:
“Because I watch so much sports, I like to think I know what’s gonna happen. But with the NFL this year, some things have shocked me, some things have been just terrible. Like the Bengals. Damn. I kind of had a feeling things were gonna be bad, but I didn’t want them to be this bad. And oh my God the Chargers.
They won on Monday, but it still wasn’t the Chargers. Then again, I think LaDainian is going to figure out how to work his way back through this injury. LaDainian is tough. I think that last game will be a big motivation boost for him. I’ve talked to some people who’ve had similar injuries with the toe, and they tell me that it’s the mental thing you have to get over first. The pain never goes away, so you gotta accept that and just fight your way through it. I think once he gets used to it you’re gonna see he’s the same LaDainian. I’m not worried about him. He’s gonna be fine.”
You can check out the entire post at the ESPN website. And of course readers are already commenting as to if this is really Weezy or if he is pulling a Kanye and having some one ghost blog for him.

The Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans agreed in principle on a trade on Wednesday for the suspended cornerback.
The agreement, which was first reported by ESPN’s Ed Werder, was confirmed to The Associated Press by both teams.
There were so many loose ends that needed to be tied down that the trade was not finalized Thursday.
It might not happen Friday, either. Yet it seems likely to be settled by early afternoon Saturday, in time for the start of the NFL draft. Sources told Werder that Dallas will send its fourth-round pick (the 126th overall) in Saturday’s draft to the Titans for Jones.

It is been reported that Robert Redford along with ESPN will collaborate on a film chronicling the life of Jackie Robinson. This movie seems to finally be on track to getting made after years of false starts and a varying list of people connected to the project.
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – ESPN said Monday its film unit would join forces with Robert Redford on a theatrical movie about Jackie Robinson, the Brooklyn Dodgers star who broke baseball’s color barrier in the 1940s.
ESPN Films joins the biopic that Redford has been working on for several years. Thomas Carter (“Coach Carter”) is attached as director for the project. Redford will play Branch Rickey, the team’s general manager.
The project has the blessing of Rachel Robinson, Jackie Robinson’s widow, as well as Branch Rickey Jr. and Major League Baseball. Among the producers are Howard and Karen Baldwin, who helped bring “Ray” to the big screen.
