Joey Crack may have started a trend of licking the soles of your unworn Air Force Ones thanks to his unforgettable closet feature on MTV Cribs, but Joe now has his own shoe with the new low cost brand Protege.

Terror Squad gets a call out on the upper of the shoes dubbed The Recession.  Protege, like Starbury, is one of the latest low cost shoe brands started up by NBA players distributed exclusively to cost conscious outlets that include K-Mart.  This initial sketch made it to the web today via SneakerFiles but is getting many to wonder if Fat Joe has hung up his Nike’s for something that’s his own.  No word yet if these will sport the $35 price tag that most Protege shoes go for.

We’ll leave this up to you.  Copped or Flopped?

Daddy Yankee to moderate McCain/Obama Part III?

I think Daddy Yankee lost a lot of cool points when he came out and openly endorsed John McCain. That was something he was supposed to keep to himself. Fat Joe will definitely not like this.

The 31-year-old reggaeton star is taking a turn as moderator of a debate Thursday among candidates for governor of Puerto Rico in an effort to lure young voters to the polls on Nov. 4.

The artist, whose real name is Ramon Ayala, will be one of three moderators at the debate under the slogan “Vota o quedate calla’o” — “Vote or keep your mouth shut.” A local journalist and a television personality will join him

Best known for his song “Gasolina,” Daddy Yankee has already made a plunge into national politics by endorsing Sen. John McCain for president “a fighter for the Hispanic community.”

But he has said he is not biased toward any of the four island candidates.

“I am going to be an instrument to deliver the people’s questions,” he told the newspaper Primera Hora.

His selection by sponsors including the local Univision network has gotten mixed reviews.

A group of young people burned Daddy Yankee albums Thursday outside the convention center hosting the debate. One, Jose Perez, said the artist is being used as “bait” in a system that otherwise neglects young people.

Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila is facing three challengers in the debate. Some of the questions were submitted through social-networking Web sites including Facebook and MySpace.

Remy Ma has started her trial today with a startling revelation that she and Makeda Barnes- Joseph struggled over the gun which then accidentally went off and critically injured Barne -Joseph. This is actually the first time that Remy Ma born Remy Smith has said her recollection of her former friend’s shooting. Facing up to 25 years in prison, this defense strategy will be crucial to Remy’s case because it is unlikely she will testify in her own defense due toOluwole Ajudun, 21, testified that early on July 14, 2007, after a party in Greenwich Village, he saw Remy get out of her Cadillac Escalade with a “silver chrome” gun.

“I saw her cock it back and jump in Makeda’s car,” he said.

Just moments later, he heard a pop and saw Remy leave Barnes-Joseph’s car.

Another witness, Crystal Ricks, testified that she saw Remy get in the car, she heard a pop and  her having committed violent acts  in previous incidents. Good defense lawyers always shy away from having their clients testify at trial. More on the trial at SOHH

KRS-1 Readies Stop The Violence Movement PT 2

stop-the-violence.png

KRS-1 has reignited a new Stop The Violence Movement that he pioneered about twenty years ago with the genre’s most prominent hip hop artists. This time is no different whereas he has called on fan favorites The Game, Nelly, Chingy, Cassidy, Fat Joe and a bunch of other artists to deliver a new song called “Self Construction”. During the recent Grammy festivities , artists came through the LA Recording School to lay down verses for the soon to be released song which I am sure will have a music video shortly after it is released.
