TAMPA — Florida Republican chairman Jim Greer said Wednesday that longtime Hillsborough state committeewoman Carol Carter may lose her position because of the racial joke she forwarded in an e-mail.

“Carol Carter has been a hard-working, loyal Republican for many years, but this action I have no tolerance for, regardless of the circumstances or intent,” a furious Greer said of Carter’s e-mail.

Concerning her future, Greer said, “I am currently considering all options, including my authority to remove her from the office of state committeewoman.” obama_inaugie

The e-mail read:

I’m confused

How can 2,000,000 blacks get into Washington, DC in 1 day in sub zero temps when 200,000 couldn’t get out of New Orleans in 85 degree temps with four days notice?

Carol Carter

Later she sent out a second e-mail that read:

I have been asked to send this apology for my earlier e-mail. I am sorry that it was received in a negative manner. I do hope that we are going to be allowed to keep our sense of humor. Continue reading

[video] JAY-Z- HISTORY Inauguration Performance [FULL]

We are less than a week removed from witnessing what can be arguably considered one of the most miraculous events in our lifetime so we will be spending weeks putting that historic moment in perspective. Being the cup of HISTORY overflowed that impactful weekend of the Inauguration we will still be catching up and posting footage that was memorial. I was overlooking this all week because the links wouldn’t work but once I got to peep it, I’m see JAY KILLED THIS SH*T! I really can identify where the future of music is heading if inspirational anthems and empowering themes become the sound of this new day and age.  And just to think I didn’t care too much for “History” the first time I heard it….

Challenges loom as Obama seeks space weapons ban

via Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama‘s pledge to seek a worldwide ban on weapons in space marks a dramatic shift in U.S. policy while posing the tricky issue of defining whether a satellite can be a weapon.star_defence_system

Moments after Obama’s inauguration last week, the White House website was updated to include policy statements on a range of issues, including a pledge to restore U.S. leadership on space issues and seek a worldwide ban on weapons that interfere with military and commercial satellites.

It also promised to look at threats to U.S. satellites, contingency plans to keep information flowing from them, and what steps are needed to protect spacecraft against attack.

The issue is being closely watched by Lockheed Martin Corp, Boeing Co, Northrop Grumman Corp, the biggest U.S. defense contractors, and other companies involved in military and civilian space contracts.

Watchdog groups and even some defense officials welcomed the statement, which echoed Obama’s campaign promises, but said it would take time to hammer out a comprehensive new strategy. Continue reading

Bush Advisors Take Exception at Obama’s “Cheap Shots” During Inauguration Speech

bushbama1

The nerve of these guys, they should be glad that Obama didn’t order that lunatic Bush to be lead off in cuffs. Of course he had to tap Dubya’s chin, after all it is his mishaps that have derailed this country to begin with. What could they have possibly thought, that America, let alone the world would forget that a drunk has been fumbling the reigns of leadership for the last eight years?

WASHINGTON — On the plane, no longer Air Force One but now Special Air Mission 28000, they talked about the speech. George W. Bush, the former president, was heading home to Texas with his inner circle, having just left the Capitol, where his successor first thanked him for his service and then proceeded to discredit it.

The Bush team had worked assiduously to make the transition smooth for the incoming President Obama and stayed out of the way as he used the postelection period to take leadership of the economy even before being sworn in. And now, as far as some of them were concerned, the new president had used his inaugural lectern to give the back of the hand to a predecessor who had been nothing but gracious to him. “Anything Possible,” Obama Tells Joyous Crowd from Steps of Lincoln Memorial

Obama

via My Way News

WASHINGTON (AP) – Two days from the White House, President-elect Barack Obama joined a vast throng Sunday at a joyous pre-inauguration celebration staged among marble monuments to past heroes. “Anything is possible in America,” declared the man who will confront economic crisis and two wars when he takes office.

“Despite the enormity of the task that lies ahead, I stand here today as hopeful as ever that the United States of America will endure – that it will prevail, that the dream of our founders will live on in our time,” the president-elect said at the conclusion of a musical extravaganza that featured U2, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen and a host of other stars.

Obama and his family held the seats of honor at the event, and a crowd of tens of thousands spilled from the base of the Lincoln Memorial toward the Washington Monument several blocks away in the cold, gray afternoon of mid-January.

It was the high point of a full day of pre-inaugural events that included a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery and a morning church service where children recalled the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.Obama Inauguration

Obama’s motorcade drew ever-larger crowds as the day wore on and he and his wife, Michelle, and their children Sasha and Malia crisscrossed the city.

“Just another typical Sunday,” deadpanned the Rev. Derrick Harkins, pastor at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, where the soon-to-be first family prayed.

Of course it was anything but – a run-up, in fact, to the first inauguration of an African-American president in a nation founded by slave-owners.

Obama’s aides said he was readying an inaugural address that would stress twin themes of responsibility and accountability, and they predicted he would devote his first week in office to economic recovery, setting in motion a 16-month troop withdrawal from Iraq and decreeing a code of ethics for his administration. The company plans to make donations to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund for each bottle sold, said Andy Glaser, senior vice president for Hennessy at Moët Hennessy USA in New York, with a goal of starting two four-year scholarships through a minimum donation of $50,000.
