SILLY THING Toys has been the talk of the industry since its establishment. Following their Bounty Hunter and The Beatles interpretations, SILLY THING Toys gets set to yet again launch a triumphant collaboration, this time with Marvel Studios and Hong Kong-based Hot Toys. Marking the very first time that they have authorized an original customized version of its characters, Marvel allows SILLY THING founder TK to work up a special colorway, utilizing the 1/6 Mark III as his base. One of the figures highlights includes the use of rare “battle-damaged” paint, which called for a figure re-creation considering the paint would not adhere to the original plastic surface of the Mark III platform. A release is scheduled for July 4th, 2009 via THINK SILLY Hong Kong.

[pics] Iron Man 2(Robert Downey JR.,Don Cheadle,& Gwyneth Paltrow )

After the Wolverine debacle a couple of days ago, which I secretly think was done on purpose to stir up some controversy, lo and behold these pics leak from the set of the most anticipated sequel since The Dark Knight(Transformers aside).

With Terrance Howard out and Don Cheadle in, our collective mouths can now water a year ahead of the release date and the now customary practice of the promotion of a movie starting before it is even completed. The guys over at Latino Review scooped the scoop for your viewing pleasure:

Shooting has begun on Iron Man 2, and besides the brief updates from Jon Favreau on Twitter, it didn’t take long for pictures to pop up on the second day of shooting.

Spoiler TV has some shots of Robert Downey Jr. carrying his little box (I guess he keeps his vitamins, cigarettes and other stuff in there), along with shots of Gwyneth Paltrow sitting in a car and Don Cheadle trying to show off his Blackberry.

I like how the trailer says Tony Stark and doesn’t say Robert Downey Jr. I think Robert should just legally change his name to Tony Stark since most will now associate his career with Iron Man instead of past efforts like the fantastic Chaplin.

Samuel L. Jackson is Marvel’s man. The actor, who just weeks ago was seemingly on the outs with the studio over reprising his role as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D., has signed an unprecedented nine-picture deal to play the character in a series of Marvel movies.

The movies include “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America,” “The Avengers” and its sequels. Also on the table is the possibility of toplining a “S.H.I.E.L.D.” movie, which is in development. The actor, repped by ICM and Anonymous Content, made a surprise appearance as Fury at the end of the first “Iron Man,” throwing geeks into a tizzy and showing the first glimpse of Marvel’s plan to link all their slate of movies into one filmic universe.

Jackson and Fury were expected to be part of the sequel, but as Marvel negotiated with its cast, deals proved hard to come by. Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Mickey Rourke still doesn’t have a deal for the part of a villain despite almost two months of negotiations.

Dell-Paramount Deal Puts “Iron Man” on PCs

via Reuters

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – PC manufacturer Dell and Paramount Pictures are opening a new front in digital distribution with an offering allowing consumers to order “Iron Man” preloaded into newly purchased computers.

For now, Paramount is the only studio that has signed on, and “Iron Man” — which will be available accompanied by exclusive bonus footage for $20 beginning Tuesday (September 30), the same day as its DVD release — is the only film being offered.

The offering is the first step Dell is taking toward setting up a broader digital content storefront that could create significant competition for Apple’s dominant iTunes Store. Continue reading

Iron Man is Marvel-ous At Box Office…

\"Iron Man\" was pure gold at the box office. Super Cool Stuff: Iron Man Action Figure (PICS)

Saotome makes a living cranking out custom creations like this Hulkbuster Iron Man. \"What if Iron Man crash-landed in this summer\'s Hulk movie? He\'d be wearing this armor,\" said Saotome. He crafted the custom piece using the beefed-up exoskeleton of Iron Man\'s nemesis, the Iron Monger. Saotome says this figure sold for $520 on eBay.Photo courtesy Jin Saotome
Blackout, one of the first Transformers shown on screen during the 2007 live-action movie, sold for the highest figure any of Saotome\'s custom figures have garnered to date. The Deceptacon went for a whopping $3,400. \"I don\'t think I could top that again,\" said Saotome, who\'s built up a large base of fans who appreciate his tweaked superheroes. \"Those results aren\'t typical for this field. Saotome sells all his custom designs on eBay, and prefers to let bidders decide what each figurine is worth rather than setting a minimum price.

How cool are these figures featuring Iron Man, Transformers, and Amazing Spiderman. Yeah you gonna pay a pretty price via Ebay. But if you gonna get now, might else do it they will be collectors items like now. Read below:

He started hacking action figures as a tot. Now Jin Saotome sells custom-modded superheroes for hundreds and even thousands of dollars. “I would take apart my G.I. Joes, swap arms and paint them with my mom’s nail polish,” said the 30-year-old resident of California City, California.

With the help of his dad’s metal shop, Saotome built and deconstructed popular figurines as a hobby. His first set of custom figures was purchased by a traveling jeweler, who bought an entire set of Star Wars figures for his son.

For this chromed-out version of Iron Man\'s first attempt at a flying suit, Saotome buffed all the joint holes for a smooth, retro look. He then carved out a hatch on the back and rigged an LED from a dollar store to illuminate the chest. I just love Iron Man,\" Saotome said. \"I\'ve probably made nine or 10 variations on the Iron Man character.\"
This Black Cat figure was inspired by an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. Saotome is quick to point out he\'s not crafting from scratch, but \"building on what\'s already been done.\" Though he often takes requests for commissioned works, he usually looks to his favorite comics for inspiration. Each augmented action figure takes about three days to build, though it varies depending on the complexity of the design. Photo courtesy Jin Saotome <

Saotome usually starts with a simple base doll to build custom action figures like this Stealth Iron Man. Utilizing a prepackaged form allows the figurine to be fully articulated -- durable joints are nearly impossible to build by hand, says Saotome.
Saotome is revving up his collection of Iron Man custom figures to coincide with Friday\'s release of the feature film. To ramp up for Iron Man, Saotome mostly created variants on the character\'s armored costume -- but a few were made to look like Robert Downey Jr.\'s version of Tony Stark. \"I\'m also planning one with a tank top and a unit on his chest that\'ll light up,\" said Saotome.
Saotome cobbled together this action figure in the likeness of his namesake. \"Jin Saotome\" is a character from an old arcade game the artist played obsessively as a kid. He adopted the nickname used by friends who admired his skills playing the avatar, and now uses the pseudonym for his work. Of the 300-plus figures Saotome has created over the years, this is one of three he doesn\'t plan to sell.

Ghostface and Sam Jack Don’t Make the Cut In Iron Man

peeped @ The Playlist

UPDATE : From Rich Johnston/ Lying In The Gutter

One thing missing from the film was the much-touted end of movie scene with Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury. I understand from British Film classification sources that the scene is in the print that they’ve approved for general release, but not in premiere or preview screenings, so as not to spoil the um.. surprise… bugger. Anyway, he’s recruiting for a group called The Avengers.

We regrettably report that Ghostface Killah and Samuel Jackson did not make the final cut and will not appear in the upcoming summer blockbuster “Iron Man” as previously reported. While details remain sketchy it was rumored that Ghost shot a piece as a sheik in Dubai while Samuel had a bit part as Nick Fury. Neither made the cut and apparently ended up on the cutting room floor. Hopefully they’ll make it to the DVD version. Oh well there goes my dreams of seeing Starks alongside Starks, swagg splashin’ in his full-length robe!

Stan Lee Named Head Of Virgin Comics

Stan Lee..the legend

Stan Lee, the man who brought you such iconic figures as The Hulk, The Uncanny X-Men, Iron Man and Spider Man has joined forces with another eclectic mind, Richard Branson and his Virgin Comic imprint. After being unceremoniously forced out of Marvel and on the brink of ruin, Lee has been resurrected by Virgin to head their comic book division, where he’ll be in charge of developing the next era of superheroes. Rather than relying on the celebrity of a superhero character, Virgin has experimented with partnering with brand name celebrities that have introduced their own unique character twists, creating niche market “heroes” and “antiheroes.”

In addition to Lee, Virgin has already inked deals with director John Woo, Guy Richie, actor Nicolas Cage, porn star Jenna Jameson, and spiritualist Deepak Chopra as well as others. With the inclusion of Mr. Lee, the hope to attract the best writers and illustrators to their ever-expanding team in order to position themselves to compete with the powerhouse Marvel Comics and DC Comics. No word yet on what the first Lee-helmed project will be or if he will be further developing any characters he’d previously been working on. In addition to the Virgin deal, Lee has just released a political humor “photo” book called “Election Daze” that is shooting up the charts.

Grand Theft Auto IV Seeks to Kill the Competition..

Source: Variety

Grand Theft Auto IV is gearing up to smash sales of video games and to possibly make a dent in the movie box office. The game due to be released April 29 has been the buzz of blogs and websites for months and its release could possible effect movies and dvd releases the same week.

When “Grand Theft Auto IV” launches April 29, it’s expected to gross a record-breaking $400 million worldwide in its first week. That’s good news for the game biz, but daunting for execs in other sectors of the media industry.

“Videogames are a major source of competition for the disposable income of young males,” says Warner homevideo topper Ron Sanders, “and we avoid releasing big titles on (major videogame release) dates that appeal to young men unless there’s a specific demographic reason.”

[video] Audi’s “Iron Man” Commercial

As the release date (May 2) for the highly anticipated summer blockbuster Iron Man approaches, the corporate Big Dogs will start rolling out their cross promotions. This is Audi’s effort to align itself with Tony Starks and his Enterprise. Their R8 will be featured heavily throughout the flick. Their brand integration is not so much a shove it in your face approach but rather Audi as a technologically superior work of machinery is tied into the theme of Iron Man and his many technologically superior machinery (his armor). They’ve developed a very engaging website around the promo campaign as well. To check it out go HERE
