[video] PUNKS AND POETS- ALLEN IVERSON

Simply put, Allen Iverson is the uncommon thread. Over the course of a 14 year NBA career, Iverson averaged a staggering 26.7 points, 6.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game. The long-time Philadelphia 76er was voted onto 11 All-Star teams, was named NBA MVP in 2001 and is a surefire hall of famer. As impactful as his game was on the court, though, the 6-0 dynamo made an even bigger cultural dent off of it. The native of Virginia brought cornrows, tats and headbands to the NBA. He brought style, attitude and hip-hop to the league. More than that, he brought them to pop culture. In short, Iverson made it OK to be yourself, to be uncompromising, to be real. He made it OK to be uncommon.

NEW YORKJadakiss is putting his calls out. ‘Kiss wants Kanye West and Cam’ron on the remix of his current single, “Who’s Real,” and he already knows what producers’ beats he needs for his next album.

“I’m definitely going back in,” the Yonkers native said. “The D-Block album is wrapped up. I’mma make sure we finish this LOX album, and I’m coming right back at the end of the year. I think I’m gonna call it Top Five, Dead or Alive. I’m only gonna work with Primo [DJ Premier], Alchemist, Swizz Beatz, Dame Grease, sh– like that. Have a couple of South [producers], and that’s it. Wham!”

The Black Babe Ruth’s Last Kiss is far from over, though. He just shot a video for “Who’s Real” in Harlem last week, with OJ Da Juiceman and Swizz. T.I., Ja Rule, the Clipse, Grafh and Black Hand Entertainment were among the friends who came down for cameo appearances. After that, ‘Kiss is going with the single “Smoking Gun” — featuring Jazmine Sullivan — to close out the album. A video is in the works. Continue reading

XXL XXclusive: Rick Ross, Under Oath

XXLMag.com: How did you come up with that line about 50’s baby mama and burning down the house? ‘Cause that was the thing that triggered him.

Rick Ross: Most definitely. And what it was, it was a true statement. I was just smoking at home watching the news just like everybody else.

XXL: Did you know he would come back at you with something?

Ross: Of course. That’s why I did it.

XXL: That’s why you did it?

Ross: Of course. You gotta understand this is chess not checkers. You gotta understand a man’s next moves. When a woman is scorned, you have to understand that there’s gonna be a backlash, which is totally fine. I was… As far as him responding, I’m still a little disappointed in the quality of music that’s being released. ‘Cause at the end of the day, all the hoopla, you smoke a blunt, forget about it and people wanna put on they headphones and hear some quality. I’m one of the first artists to admit Get Rich or Die Tryin‘ was a classic. But if I turn back the hands of time five years ago, if I knew the dude who did “Many Men” would wear wigs and buy dildos and, you know, attack people that I look at as legends, such as Jadakiss and the LOX and the list could go on…

XXL: So were you just upset with him attacking everybody else and that made you-

Ross: Nah, it’s not that. It’s not a fact about nobody being upset because his last attacks have relatively failed. So it wasn’t about that. It was just about me deciding when I was ready to engage in 50 Cent. Continue reading

[video] Jada Tells Diddy ‘Lets Make a Deal’

Vodpod videos no longer available.

According to Al-Qaeda Jada, Diddy has initiated what some may hope will mushroom into a bidding war for the former Bad Boy’s, LOX.  According to Jada, who just dropped his highly anticipated album this past Tuesday, Combs made a ‘light’ offer but with a few adjustments the numbers will be right.  Are we still excited to see the LOX back on Bad Boy a decade after their former glory?  Will Jay-Z pitch his hat in the ring and make a play for the Yonkers trio?

[audio] JADAKISS- The Last Kiss

jadakiss-the-last-kiss-final-small

I will never understand the logic of the music industry. While they are struggling with downloads and scrambling to clog up songs from leaking they continue to offer albums for free stream, I guess with the belief that every project with mimic Lil Wayne’s last effort. They are crazy. Well here goes Jadakiss’ project…for free…almost feels like a mixtape don’t it!  I’m diggin’ the accessibility of this though, they should send us everyone’s album in the mail so we can embed it all over the net.  Resistance is FUTILE!

Jadakiss Kisses Title of Album Goodbye

via SOHH
D-Block‘s Jadakiss has decided to change the title of his long-awaited album to The Last Kiss after receiving negative feedback from retailers.
In a recent video Jada confirms the rumors on being forced to change the project’s original title Kiss My Ass.

“I had to change the name of my album. Kiss My Ass wasn’t testing well at retail,” he admitted. “Not even with the exclamations or none of that. So we had to switch it to The Last Kiss.”

With the new name in effect, Jada also revealed the overwhelming concern people had on him possibly retiring.

“Some people asked me is it my last album, nah, it’s just, the first album was Kiss The Game Good-Bye, the second one was The Kiss of Death so this one was The Last Kiss,” Jada explained. “It’s the closing of a trilogy. It’s the last time I’m going to name one of my albums, it’s the last time “Kiss” is going to be in the album titles.”

While corporate America may have made the raspy rapper change the forthcoming disc’s title, Jada still plans on using the original title on another format. Continue reading

Sheek Louch Needs Love? “Good Love” WTF

 sheek-louch.png

Now the homey Sheek gets love on this site, he has always given us interviews when we needed it. Now my beef is that he really needs to hit us with some of that raw dope he is known for. With an album named Silverback Gorilla ,I am expecting some hard shit the females wont like. I know he got some of that on the album but wish he would have dropped it first. Anyway hope he does his numbers  and then gets back with Jada, Styles, and drop the Lox album we been waiting for 10 years.
