[video] Lord Jamar on Azealia Banks on Bleaching her skin and Jaden Smith Wearing Skirts to Prevent Bullying

During a Twitter rant this year, Azealia Banks tweeted, “N***as don’t hear you unless you pass that paper bag test,” which was referring to women with lighter skin tones. The controversial rapper then revealed that she has been bleaching her skin, which Lord Jamar addressed during a recent interview with VladTV.

The Brand Nubian rapper explained that he feels that all types of body modification show signs of self-hatred, as he includes weaves, bleaching, and surgery in the same category. He then added that it all speaks to dissatisfaction about one’s self, and Jamar believes that there are different degrees of modification.

Lord Jamar, who has been outspoken about rappers and male celebrities wearing more feminine clothes, shared his thoughts on Jaden Smith recently saying that he wears skirts so that kids in the future don’t get teased. The rapper explained that while it seems that Jaden is trying to be a martyr in the situation, Lord Jamar believes that he’s adding to the feminization of all men in society.

NY TIMES: Jaden and Willow Smith on Prana Energy, Time and Why School is Overrated

Screen Shot 2014-11-19 at 11.36.09 AM

People were quick to criticize these two child stars because when you’re the offspring of superstars Will and Jada Smith you’re supposed to shut up and be happy with your millions. Their viewpoints are a breath of fresh air and not the programmed garbage we hear from squeaky clean Disney stars who behind scenes are depressed and taking boatloads of drugs due to the faux images that they can no longer maintain once they begin to reach adulthood. Full interview below:

So is the hardest education the unlearning of things?

WILLOW: Yes, basically, but the crazy thing is it doesn’t have to be like that.

JADEN: Here’s the deal: School is not authentic because it ends. It’s not true, it’s not real. Our learning will never end. The school that we go to every single morning, we will continue to go to.

WILLOW: Forever, ‘til the day that we’re in our bed.

One of the gifts of being young is that particular blend of self-confidence and self-consciousness.

In Columbia Pictures’ The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible.Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts “the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life. The Karate Kid stars Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith and Taraji P. This will be a huge hit despite any bad reviews from the critics. Plus this kid Jaden has some serious acting chops and will be a bigger star than his Dad in my opinion.

BEIJING — Jackie Chan will play the wise kung-fu master in a Hollywood-Chinese remake of the 1984 hit “The Karate Kid” that kicked off filming in the Chinese capital at the weekend, a movie company publicist said Monday.

Chan’s young disciple in “Kung Fu Kid” will be played by Jaden Smith, the son of Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, China Film Group spokesman Weng Li told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

In “The Karate Kid,” Pat Morita plays the iconic building handyman Mr. Miyagi who trains one of his young tenants, portrayed by Ralph Macchio, into an accomplished fighter.

The co-production between the state-run China Film Group and Columbia Pictures started shooting Saturday in Beijing, Weng said.

“Kung Fu Kid” is being directed by Harald Zwart, who also directed “One Night at McCool’s” and “The Pink Panther 2,” Solon So, the chief executive of Chan’s company, JC Group, told the AP.

Chan and Smith, along with Smith’s parents and sister Willow, attended a traditional Chinese ceremony to mark the start of the shoot Saturday. Photos on China Film Group’s movie news Web site show the Smith family and Chan holding incense sticks.

Will Smith _ one of the film’s producers _ Chan, Zwart and others symbolically removed a piece of red cloth covering a movie camera, after which Smith gave Chan a hug, according to video posted on Chinese news Web site Sina.com. His hair done in a huge Afro and wearing a bright red track jacket and blue pants, Jaden Smith stood and waved when he was introduced. His father ruffled his hair when he sat down.

Chan said on his Web site he also attended the younger Smith’s 11th birthday party last Wednesday, where he and Will Smith posed for pictures with young performers wearing red and yellow costumes with dragon patterns.

Ken Stovitz, one of Will Smith’s partners in the production company Overbrook Entertainment, said at the ceremony Saturday that “Kung Fu Kid” will be set in modern-day Beijing. China Film Group chairman Han Sanping said shooting will last three months.

Chan juggles careers in Hollywood and Chinese-language film. The veteran 55-year-old Hong Kong action star will be seen in the upcoming the Hollywood action comedy “The Spy Next Door,” about an undercover Chinese spy whose cover is blown, and the Chinese production, “Big Soldier,” about the friendship between two soldiers set in China’s ancient Qin dynasty.

Jaden Smith costarred with his father in the 2006 movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” and appeared in the 2008 Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still.

The Day The Earth Stood Still Shatters Box Office Records

via Deadline Hollywood

SUNDAY AM:  Twentieth Century Fox’s The Day The Earth Stood Still opened to an excellent $11.5M Friday and $11.8M Saturday (+2%) and an estimated $7.6M for Sunday for a solid $31M weekend. IMAX accounted for 12.5% of the opening weekend gross with $3.8M from 123 screens. Internationally, the day-and-date release opened in 90 markets (but only 11 of the top 16) and made $39M.

So that’s a worldwide total after its first weekend of $70M. However, rival studios tell me that the pic’s Cinemascore was the hard-to-achieve “C-” (when it’s rare to see anything below a “B”), with moviegoers over age 25 giving it a “D”. No wonder the PG-13 pic has only 21% positive reviews by top critics on Rotten Tomatoes, despite starring Keanu Reeves, and Oscar winners Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates. Continue reading

The Metaphysical/Philosophical Review of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

keanu

By PMOOR

Rarely does a cinematic event come along that makes the Earth stand still.  For me, when I heard that NASA will be beaming this feature into space with the hopes that it reaches the Galactic Center in 2012 (when Earth will be aligned with the center) I was determined to see what the hell was so special about this release.  Then when I took note that it was being dropped on the last full month of the year (in Gemini, the communicator) I said there is definitely something more to this flick than just a random release which had to be so carefully planned as to coincide with these celestial events.  So, at 12:01 a.m. there I was seeing Keanu Reeves reprise his role as Neo, his most famous Christ archetype (you know, Saviour of the world).  The only twist is in The Matrix he was sent to save Zion and all of its inhabitants.  This time around he was sent to save the Earth and do away with all of its inhabitants.  Interestingly enough, the film started off on the Karakoram Mountains, in India, which to some is just another random location but to the student of metaphysics, we refer to that as the “K2 resonator” ( a portal between dimensions). k2

Whenever this symbology is invoked you can be sure that some references to the Great Pyramids or The Ark of Noah aren’t too far behind and this film doesn’t fall short with not one, but both iconic symbols popping up all over this flick.

Keanu makes his return to Earth via an orb of light landing in the middle of Central Park (Great Lawn), somewhat like how Kevin Spacey traveled here in K-PAX (Kevin got here on “angles” of light) and interestingly enough they both voice the same sentiments about their critique of humans and their threat to the fragile balance of the universe.  locust

The Galactical Confederacy has decided that a planet as precious as Gaia (Earth) and her life sustaining properties is way too important to lose to the carelessness of humans who currently inhabit her surface, so as liberators they have decided to do away with the species in order to save the planet.
