This has been Sharpton and NAACP’s game for eternity. Sell out to multi-national corporations who see paying them as away to keep black people at bay, and to permanently skirt changing racist policies that have been in effect for decades upon decades.

A lawsuit against Comcast, Time Warner Cable Inc., Rev. Al Sharpton and the NAACP alleges that the media companies discriminated against black-owned businesses and paid activists like Sharpton to “whitewash” its practices. The complaint alleges that Comcast gave large donations to Sharpton, the NAACP and other civil rights groups to make it appear that the cable company was promoting diversity, even while it was failing to follow through on a promise to do so.

The lawsuit, seeking $20 billion, was filed in Los Angeles federal court Friday by Entertainment Studios, a television company founded by black producer and comedian Byron Allen and the National Association of African-American Owned Media (NAAAOM).

[video] James Brown Biopic ‘Get On Up’ (Official Trailer)

Looks like a must see. You know I was looking for that legendary James Brown footwork, I guess I will just have to wait till this drops in August.

via Huff Post

Universal is hoping that audiences will shake their money makers at movie theaters this summer. The studio has set Tate Taylor’s James Brown movie, “Get On Up,” for release in August. The film’s first trailer arrived on Thursday, promising all the singing, dancing, screaming and crying that’s expected from traditional music biopics. Taylor, who last directed “The Help” to a Best Picture nomination, has an all-star cast in line for this one including Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Dan Aykroyd and, in the role of Brown, Chadwick Boseman. The young actor is building quite a resume of historical figures: he played Jackie Robinson in last year’s “42.” Watch the trailer for “Get On Up,” which was produced by Mick Jagger, below:

Spike Lee to Direct Wesley Snipes in James Brown Biopic

James Brown is the lone Godfather of Soul, and even if he looks a lot like Wesley Snipes in Spike Lee’s upcoming biopic, Lee wants to make sure there’s one recognizable voice coming through the microphone when the legendary figure appears on-screen.wesley-snipes-200x300

“We’re doing it together – it’s going to happen,” Lee told MTV News in an exclusive interview at the Sundance Film Festival this week. The Oscar nominated director of “Do the Right Thing” and “Inside Man” lavished praise on Snipes. “He’s my man,” Lee said; but when it comes to the vocals on Brown’s classic tracks like “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and “Get Up Offa That Thing,” expect to hear the authentic voice of James Brown being dubbed in. “I want to hear James Brown’s voice,” the director said. “That’s just my personal taste.”

He’s not the first filmmaker to take the dubbing route in a musical biopic. Taylor Hackford dubbed Ray Charles’ original voice over Jamie Foxx in “Ray.” “I know Joaquin Phoenix in ‘Walk the Line,’ he did some of the singing,” Lee said, breaking down the decision. “I’m a purist,” he explained. Lee and Paramount grabbed Snipes to play Brown in 2007. The project came together shortly after Brown died in 2006 of congested heart failure. Snipes’ big-screen energy summoning Brown’s near mythological stage presence will obviously carry a hefty punch. You have to feel the demands being place on Snipes, though, just to physically imitate James Brown to the point of syncing with his vocals. That task alone should make “Demolition Man” feel like a jog through through Park City, Utah, by contrast. Do you think Spike Lee is doing the right thing by dubbing in James Brown’s original voice? Do you think Wesley Snipes is a good fit for the part? Speak up and let everyone know in the comments section below!

DNA Proves Godfather Fathered Six Year Old Boy…

An attorney says a DNA test confirms James Brown fathered the son of a woman who claimed to be the singer\'s wife when he died.

Well it seems that James Brown wasn’t just the hardest working man in showbiz, with his brood growing with no end in sight.

DNA Tests have revealed that a six year old boy is paternally his from his former back-up singer looks to get a peice of his reported 100 million dollar estate, though she was not mentioned in his will.

Peter Shahid, an attorney for James Brown II, said Friday that the boy was tested in April before a South Carolina judge ordered a paternity test.

The results of the court-ordered test have not been released. The boy is the 6-year-old son of Tomi Rae Hynie, a former backup singer for the “Godfather of Soul.”

Trustees handling Brown’s estate have suggested that Hynie was not legally married to Brown and that her boy is not his son. They were not mentioned in Brown’s will.

My question is exactly how long does something like this take to get resolved, with so many people with a vested interest in his estate? Seems it would take years..
