What the heck is going on in Chicago? It seems that the value of human life is non-existent when you have two prominent sports and entertainment figures whose families were brutally murdered. With a corrupt govenor refusing to go and the murder rate soaring these last couple of years, Chicago has taken a beating in the public relations dept.

Chicago, IL. —

The mother of former Chicago Bulls center Eddy Curry’s 3-year-old son and her baby daughter were found slain with multiple gunshot wounds Saturday in a South Loop condo.

But the boy she had with the NBA player was found unhurt in the building in the 50th block of West 15th Street.

Police are looking for a known acquaintance of the woman, Nova Henry, 24, and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava. A police source said Curry was not a suspect.

Both Henry and Ava suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Another child, a 3-year-old boy, was found in the building unharmed, officials said.

Curry’s attorney, Kelly Saindon, said the 3-year-old boy is Curry’s.

Jennifer Hudson to Make Triumphant Return During Super Bowl

This just in – Jennifer Hudson will make her return to the spotlight after the horrific murder of her mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King this February singing the National Anthem at the nation’s biggest sporting event. J-Hud hasn’t made any public appearances or spoken on the case and William Balfour the estranged husband of her sister Julia has since been charged with their murders. This could be the most heart felt performance since Whitney Houston brought the house down in 1991!

There were some rumors she was to perform at Barack Obama’s inaguration ceremony but those were confirmed as untrue, unless sombody’s throwing us a curve. After the Super Bowl on February 1st expect to see J-Hud get the love of the music industry at the Grammy’s on February 8th where she’s up for four awards including Best R&B Album.

Whitney Houston is Back, New CD in March Says Clive Davis

The music industry’s hottest party in town — Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Party — is set to be the golden ticket this year, with word that Whitney Houston will start her official comeback at the bash.

The untimely Ms. Houston is set to perform brand new tracks completely live from her upcoming album. Whitney’s mentor, Clive Davis, also announced the new album will be due in March. Is anyone else freaking the Shasta out a little?

Who knows what her new sound is like (Clive?) Who knows if she’s still got it (Clive?) Who knows if she’s gonna have some mid-crack breakdown (probably not Clive.) Either way, I am going to be on the phone all day trying to figure out how my ears can get a peak at her new work. The poopy part is, it’s a private party and the place will be flanked with paparazzi and fans, so that probably means the public folk like us have got no shot at this glittertastic event.

Also performing will be Jazmine Sullivan, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and possibly (still rumored) Jennifer Hudson.

Jennifer Hudson still not ready for the ‘Spotlight’

I can definitely understand her not being ready to perform. When this report first surfaced it was a bit surprising because she probably needs counseling and getting onstage should may be months or even years away. Her fans would be there in droves to support her but I think she needs to just heal.

CHICAGO (AP) – A prosecutor alleged Wednesday that Jennifer Hudson’s brother-in-law killed three of her relatives—with a gun stolen from one of the victims—because he was angry his estranged wife, the singer’s sister, was dating another man.

William Balfour appeared in court for the first time in connection with the deaths and was denied bond. His attorney said authorities have no forensic evidence linking Balfour to the killings, but prosecutors said witness statements and the suspect’s own lies and threats helped lead them to him.

Balfour was charged with murder Tuesday after being held for weeks on a parole violation. The slightly built man, wearing a yellow jump suit, stood quietly Wednesday as prosecutor LuAnn Snow described how he allegedly killed his 7-year-old stepson, Julian King, Hudson’s mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and Hudson’s brother, Jason Hudson.

Snow said Balfour had been at the Hudsons’ South Side home early Oct. 24 and confronted his estranged wife, Julia Hudson, about a birthday present he believed she had received from a boyfriend.

Chicago cops have arrested William Balfour for the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mom, brother, and nephew.

Balfour was transferred to CPD custody today after they served an arrest warrant. Charges from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office are pending.

UPDATE: We’re told the CPD had no new evidence against Balfour — but they were finally able to scrape all the dirt on him into one pile, which was enough to make the arrest. Also, Balfour is still waiting to be formally charged — and this could take a day, or up to a week.

Jennifer Hudson Starts Foundation For Families Of Murder Victims, More Details Emerge In Nephew’s Death

A week since the tragic loss of her family, Jennifer Hudson has created the Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims which will aim to benefit relatives of murder victims.According to People, the Hudson family will go forward with the project to help provide assistance to people with the most vital needs in addition to emotional guidance.

“The specific purpose of the Foundation is to care for the needs of families who have lost relatives to a violent crime,” she wrote in a statement. “This encompasses their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter as well as grief counseling.”

Based out of New York, the foundation will pay tribute to the memory of Hudson’s slain mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and seven year-old nephew Julian King.

A promising lead surfaced Wednesday when Chicago Police found a gun in a rubbish-strewn lot just down the street from where the nephew of Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was found shot to death in an SUV on Monday, authorities said.

The gun was found about 1:30 p.m. in a lot on 14th Street between Kildare and Kolin by three probationary officers during a search of the area near where the body of 7-year-old Julian King was found in a white Chevy Suburban.

CHICAGO (AP) – Busted for what police said was a rock of cocaine on the driver’s seat of his car, William Balfour could have been spending the past few months behind bars for a parole violation.The 27-year-old felon was instead allowed to remain free and is now considered a suspect in the deaths of Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

On the day the victims were fatally shot and the young boy went missing, Balfour told his parole agent he had missed a meeting because he was baby-sitting, records show.

By midnight, investigators involved in a frantic search for 7-year-old Julian King had contacted parole officials and requested emergency addresses, visitor lists, telephone numbers and “anything further” connected to Balfour, according to documents obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press.

No one has been charged in the killings. An Amber Alert issued on Friday named Balfour as a suspect in the deaths of Hudson’s mother, 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, and brother, 29-year-old Jason Hudson. Julian, Balfour’s stepson, was found Monday shot to death in the back of an SUV on Chicago’s West Side.

The Illinois Department of Corrections issued a warrant for Balfour on Saturday for violating terms of his parole by possessing a weapon and failing to attend anger management counseling and a substance abuse program, according to his parole report.

The body of a male child was found Friday morning on the South Side, authorities said.

The body of a male child, about 7 years-old, was found on the 1300 block of South Kolin Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said the child may be 7-year-old Julian King, who went missing from the crime scene Friday where the bodies of the mother and brother of Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson were found in their home in the 7000 block of South Yale Avenue.

A white Chevrolet Suburban SUV was also found on the scene, according to media reports, police declined to comment on those reports as of 8:20 a.m.

About 3 p.m. Friday, the bodies of 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, Jennifer Hudson’s mother and 29-year-old Jason Hudson, her brother, were found at the 7000 block of South Yale, inside their home, police said. The shooting is believed to be domestic-related. Neighbors said they heard gunshots between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday morning, authorities said.

A family member found the bodies. The mother was found on the living room floor; the brother was found in a bedroom. The crime didn’t appear to be a robbery, police said, and the door to the home was not locked when the family member arrived.

After the two bodies were found, missing from the crime scene was Donerson’s grandson, 7-year-old Julian, who was possibly taken from the house in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said. He was in a white 1994 Chevrolet Suburban SUV with Illinois license plate X584859, police said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
