NIKE is honoring Black History Month with Black History Month Collection?!!
Still trying to understand the Black History tie-in outside of them just promoting the same stars already under contract. Would be great if they could actually honored non-traditional Black History Heroes instead of just heaping more praise on Lebron, KD, and Melo. They say the proceeds will be given to charity though it seems to be scant on details. Here is what their press release states:
One hundred percent of net proceeds (up to $1 million) generated by the 2014 BHM Collection during the month of February will go to the new NIKE Ever Higher Fund, a donor advised fund administered by Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America), a national 501(c)3 public charity.

They took a needed shot at the BP oil spill that has still not been fully addressed by its CEO and our government to let us know how much damage there really was. Good shit but don’t know about the ‘coon’ stuff.

LeBron wins first MVP award, source tells AP
via MSNBC
CLEVELAND – Unstoppable at both ends of the floor this season, LeBron James is the NBA’s Most Valuable Player.
James, who led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a team-record 66 regular-season wins and the top overall seed in the playoffs, will receive the award Monday, a person with knowledge of the choice told The Associated Press. James chose Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, his alma mater, for the presentation, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made.
The Cavaliers announced a “major” news conference for 4 p.m. at the school, but did not give the reason.
James is the first Cavaliers player to win the award. He averaged 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists this season, his sixth as a pro. He also finished second in voting for defensive player of the year, making him perhaps the league’s most dominant two-way player since Michael Jordan.
At 24 years, 106 days on the final day of the regular season, James is the youngest player to win the award since Moses Malone (24 years, 16 days) in 1978-79. Wes Unseld was 23 when he won it in 1968-69.
James vied all season for MVP honors with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Miami’s Dwyane Wade. The three played on the U.S. gold medalist Olympic team last summer and seemed to upstage each other nightly.
Focused right from the start, the 6-foot-8, 250-pound James sharpened his already formidable skills this season. Continue reading
Lil Wayne Predicts the Lakers will take the NBA Chip
via ESPN
I apologize for being away from the blog for a while, but things have been crazy with the tour and everything. Now, I’ve got a little break from music and I’m going to be going on my own little NBA playoff tour, which should mean more blogs in the next few weeks.
Lil Wayne on the NBA playoffs
Just so no one gets it twisted: the Lakers are winning the NBA Finals. Now that KG is out, the C’s aren’t gonna go anywhere, which is a shame. You always like to have the defending champs in there to fight like hell to hold on to their crown. Doc Rivers doesn’t want to believe it. And as competitive as KG is, I can’t imagine even being around him right now — how frustrated he must be because all he wants to do is get out on that court. He’s probably breaking stuff in his house, he’s so mad.
Anyway, so now we’re looking at a Lakers versus Cavaliers final, and that’s going to be amazing. Kobe won’t get the best of LeBron, but the Lakers will get the best of the Cavs. I’ll be rooting for the Lakers, and LeBron already knows that. So it’s not like I’m gonna show up in a Kobe jersey and make ‘Bron Bron cry. He knows I’ve been a Laker fan my whole life so it’s all good. That don’t mean he likes it, but he ain’t gonna cry when he sees me at the games screaming for Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza.
But LeBron will be OK. He’s gonna win the MVP this year. That will be his consolation prize. Phil Jackson and the Lakers will walk away with more rings, but LeBron will get his trophy. Shout out to Tex Winter (the Lakers assistant), too, because it’s his last season and he’s the amazing brain behind the triangle offense. Some day, I will move to Los Angeles and live out my destiny to become a true loyal Lakers fan at every home game like Jack Nicholson. I will live next to Hugh Hefner and I will be at the Staples Center nightly, because that is my destiny. Continue reading
Jay-Z Says, ‘We All Should Support Rihanna’
via MTV
Jay-Z spoke out this weekend about the alleged altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna.
“It’s not a sound bite, this is a real situation,” Jay told reporters in Arizona. “If you can’t have compassion for others … just imagine it being your sister or your mom or someone like that, then think about how you should talk about that.
“I just think we all should just support her,” he continued. “She’s going through a tough time. You gotta realize she’s a young girl, as well. She’s very young.”
The rapper was formerly president and CEO of Island Def Jam Records, Rihanna’s label, and presided over her signing and early career. Rihanna, Young Jeezy, Ne-Yo and Rick Ross were among the artists who thrived during Jay’s stint as an executive at the label, which ended late in 2007.
Jay was in Arizona for his third annual “Two Kings” dinner, which he co-hosts with LeBron James, as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend. The event was attended by Kobe Bryant, Young Jeezy, Chris Tucker, Spike Lee, Michael Strahan, Grant Hill, Tamia and others.
MTV will air “Chris Brown & Rihanna: Love in Trouble” on Monday, February 16, at 6 p.m. ET/ PT.

NBA’ers Lebron, D Wade, & Carmelo accused of seeing ‘Hong Kong whores’
These guys better hope this story does not spiral out of control.
The NBA is banking on these guys being on their best behavior, cause there are 300 million reasons (fans) David Stern is trying to sell the NBA too.
The guys over at Black Sports Online got the hoe down, I mean low down:

First, let me say this information is coming from the Chinese version of the National Inquiry so take it for what it is worth. Secondly, the best thing about Melo, DWade and The King getting some “Love Me Long Time” affection is that Kobe Bryant wasn’t with them because, if he were, that would have been an international incident. See your BonaFide Sports Expert will travel continents to provide you with stories you just won’t get anywhere else. Now I got this as a tip from a Chinese reader who obviously though I could read Chinese because the story is in Chinese. Thanks to the handy “Google Translator,” I can bring it to you in English. If the USA doesn’t bring home the Gold Medal, we can all blame the Chinese prostitutes.
