Feds investigating Chris Brown and Lil Wayne ties to incarcerated drug dealer

via Miami Herald

Miami music producer Harrison Garcia, on trial for federal drug charges, used Instagram to upload photos of himself posing with exotic cars, stacks of cash, and rappers Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.

But investigators believe he did more than just party with the hip-hop stars.

Federal authorities on Thursday revealed they are investigating a $15,000 wire transfer last year from Brown to the bank account of Garcia, who boasted that the money was for drugs and the popular cough syrup-and-soda known as “lean.” And Garcia, when he was first arrested last October, confessed that he sold Lil Wayne “a lot of narcotics,” a federal agent testified on Thursday in Garcia’s trial for drug dealing.

Pressed for more details by Garcia’s defense attorney, the agent declined to say more.

[video] VICE 20th: Ghostface Killah – “Daytona 500”

Rae and Ghost always deliver.

Ghostface Killah performs “Daytona 500” at the VICE 20th Anniversary Party.

In December, 2014, VICE threw a massive rager for 3,000 of our closest friends at the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yards. VICE staged dozens of performances throughout the evening, bringing together musicians as varied as Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson to The Unicorns’ Nick Thorburn to Ghostface Killah and Lil’ Wayne, to perform some of the songs that have defined VICE over its twenty years. Hell, Jonah Hill even rapped Drake, backed by our very own Spike Jonze on guitar.

Of course we recorded the whole thing and we’ll be putting up many of these unique performances onto the VICE YouTube channel so you can check them out.

Nicki Minaj Apologizes for ‘Only’ Lyric Video’s Nazi Imagery, Says Video Producers are Jewish

Screen Shot 2014-11-11 at 12.29.40 PM

So the multi-million dollar generating bosstress didn’t initially sign off on this? Reeks of bullshit like her former apology for her ‘Lookin Ass Nigga’ artwork. Gonna post the video if you haven’t seen what has caused the shitstorm.

“The artist who made the lyric video for “Only” was influenced by a cartoon on Cartoon Network called “Metalocalypse” & Sin City,” she explained.

“Both the producer, & person in charge of over seeing the lyric video (one of my best friends & videographer: A. Loucas), happen to be Jewish. I didn’t come up w/the concept, but I’m very sorry & take full responsibility if it has offended anyone. I’d never condone Nazism in my art.”

Emmitt Till Estate Pens Open Letter to Lil Wayne

Screen Shot 2013-02-21 at 7.31.39 PMLil Wayne obviously has no PR firm that is trying to stop the bleeding from his biggest blunder of his storied rap career. After going on the radio to apologize to Miami and Lebron James (sans Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh)for his recent rant at his NBA party in Houston. That all aside, he still has not addressed this issue and the radio hosts who interviewed omitted any questions about his ‘beat the pussy up like Emitt Till’ lyric on Future’s remix of his track called “Karate Chop”. This remains something that needs to be publicly addressed and his needs to sincerely apologize to the family of Emitt Till. The estate of Emmitt Till has penned an open letter to him. Here is an excerpt below via Huff Post.

via HUFFPOST

Yesterday marked a week since the “unofficial” release of “Karate Chop~remix” inclusive of your lyrics. The words we speak are powerful enough for preservation of life but also have the capacity to destroy it. When you spit lyrics like “Beat that p—-y up like Emmett Till”, not only are you destroying the preservation and legacy of Emmett Till’s memory and name, but the impact of his murder in black history along with degradation of women.

Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Score Millions in New Pepsi Deal

I have criticized Nicki plenty based on her direction musically but I must say this is a huge deal for her and she gets props from me even though I don’t like any of her recent songs. Lil Wayne is just probably just scratching the surface of what he can earn from corporate America. More below:

via Forbes

Nicki Minaj became the first female to grace FORBES’ Hip-Hop Cash Kings last year, pulling in $6.5 million, enough to land the No. 15 spot on the annual accounting of rap’s top earners. Expect her bulging bank account to grow even more in 2012 following a massive deal she recently signed with Pepsi.

According to Derek Jackson, the Glu agency chief who brokered the agreement, Minaj will become the face of a new Pepsi beverage nearing its debut. He said the pact, which includes a commercial filmed in South America last month (pixely footage has already leaked on YouTube), is a multimillion-dollar deal.

“You’ll see the commercial probably in the next two months,” Jackson told me before Lil Wayne’s performance at South By Southwest. “That’ll be a segue into a new beverage Pepsi has, called ‘Pop,’ and she’ll be the face of the brand … it’s going to be explosive.”

Lil Wayne and Floyd Mayweather owe $9 MILLION more in TAXES

What is up with these guys who consistently are shaken down by the IRS? It would seem after the multi-million dollar pay outs they have made in the past they would find some people to handle their money and make sure the taxes are paid on the massavie amounts of money they generate every year.
The IRS filed a $5,610,034 tax lien against Carter on March 28 with the Miami-Dade County Clerk. According to the lien, which you can see below, he owes income taxes from 2008-09.

The IRS filed a $3,359,279 lien against Mayweather on Jan. 21 with the Clark County (Nev.) Recorder. He owes income taxes from 2009, according to the recorder’s office.

[video] Newark Narcotic Police Find 500 Bricks of “Lil Wayne” Branded Heroin

There are so many different ways to go with this but since it seems Wayne has been pretty sober since his release I will leave it alone.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

PIX News took a ride along with Newark police yesterday and saw the spoils of a drug bust: 500 bricks of heroin. The stash was hidden inside a side panel of an suv, latched shut by a special motor that was built specifically for the purpose of transporting illegal drugs. The packets have brand names too, these were called “Lil wayne…” named after the popular musician. The destination of the drugs, worth $250 million, the streets of Newark.

[video] Cash Money vs. Wendy Day: Did Baby & Slim Stiff the Woman Who Made Them Rich?

If you guys, particularly rappers, don’t know anything about Wendy Day, I suggest you do your research. This video below about her bout with Cash Money Records from a new documentary called The Big Payback, is just a snippet about her contribution to this business and culture. I was one of the many people who read her columns, articles, and advice from her website RapCoalition.org. Before the record industry was totally changed and some say permanently damaged by file sharing, she was preaching artist independence back in the day when artists still sold millions of records and life seemed to be good.

Wendy Day pictured with producer Mannie Fresh, who also claimed he was stiffed by Baby and Slim of Cash Money

She always said artists were getting the raw end of the existing deals and that it would come to a head sometime in the near future. When asked why artist continued to sign oppressive she summed it saying that she thought artist were more concerned with being famous then making money off their art. Not only did help Cash Money, No Limit, and Eminem, but was also was instrumental in David Banner and Twista being freed from their oppressive contracts. I know this because I was an online student of hers and she gave me advice about my aspirations on the business side of this game.

Ad Age: Is Kat Stacks the Creepiest Twitter Trend Ever?

Source:

I have never posted anything on this blog about the social media phenomenon of Kat Stacks, but she has become so big that she is now trending consistently on Twitter and Ad age has written a brief article that they have entitled “Is Kat Stacks the Creepiest Twitter Trend Ever?”

via Ad Age

The hip-hop take-over of Twitter continues, with perhaps the creepiest social-media-created celebrity brand ever, Kat Stacks, taking the No. 10 spot on our list. Stacks, for the uninitiated, is a hip-hop groupie who uses social media to detail her alleged conquests. Her Twitter stream is so x-rated I’m not even going to link to it, and you can find videos on YouTube with titles like “Kat Stacks Speaking on Sleeping With Lil Wayne, Nelly, Bow Wow and Entire Young Money!” (Bow Wow, for one, has denied even knowing her, let alone having sex with her.)
