Kobe Seals Deal Leads Lakers To Finals..

The best player in the league led his team to victory and is poised to get his first championship without Shaq. And hopefully those pesky cheerleader rumors will float away if he gets his fourth ring.

Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers rallied from an early 17-point deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs 100-92 on Thursday night and win the Western Conference finals in five games.

The Lakers are 12-3 in the playoffs, including 8-0 at Staples Center, where they haven’t lost in two months. They’ve won 14 straight home games and 21 of their last 24 postseason games at home.

Kobe Finally Gets MVP, Championship Next?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Finally, an MVP award for Kobe Bryant. Regarded as the NBA\'s best player for several years but never its most valuable, Bryant earned the honor at last on Tuesday after leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the best record in the Western Conference. He called the award a blessing and an honor and emphasized that he wants another trophy this year.

The worst kept secret of the week is finally official. Kobe has snagged the MVP and looks to make it even sweeter with a NBA championship without a seven footer named Shaq. This is especially significant due to MVP-like seasons from Chris Paul, Kevin Garnett, and Lebron James.

“It’s Hollywood, it’s a movie script. The perfect ending would be for us to hold a championship trophy at the end of it,” Bryant said at a news conference attended by his teammates, club officials, his wife and two daughters.

“This is an award I couldn’t have won on my own. I can’t thank these guys (his teammates) enough. These are my guys, these are my brothers. Let’s get ready for tomorrow.”

Bryant received 82-first-place votes and 1,105 points in the media vote. He was followed by New Orleans’ Chris Paul (28 and 889), Boston’s Kevin Garnett (15 and 670) and Cleveland’s LeBron James (1 and 438).
