Label whores beware. If you don’t know any of this stuff you might be living under a rock or never have logged onto TMZ because this is their daily fare for several years. This guy who put together this video together, obviously has an axe to grind against the rap community and materialism based on his tonality and sarcasm throughout but I will concede he makes some valid points. Ludacris Apologizes To John McCain

Ludacris, the self-proclaimed “mouth of the south,” made nice with former presidential hopeful John McCain over this past weekend, after making some disparaging remarks about the Republican Arizona senator on record last year.

The rapper/actor reportedly apologized to McCain and his wife Cindy during last Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game according to E! Online.

Luda made headlines last year when his track, “Politics (Obama is Here)” was publicly panned by President Barack Obama for using such lines as “McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed.”

Hip-Hop entrepreneur Ludacris continues to expand his business ventures by becoming the first Southern artist to release his own limited edition New Era fitted hat.

Taking the role as cap designer, the rapper-turned-actor has joined forces with the popular headgear company to become the latest addition to their well-known artist-inspired collection, Capture The Flag.

Ludacris Inducted into Georgia Music Hall of Fame

Trailblazing Atlanta rap star Ludacris added another precedent to his resume, as he was honored this past Saturday (September 20) as the first Hip-Hop artist inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

The ceremony featured Ludacris being honored alongside legends of the rock and R&B world in Widespread Panic and Keith Sweat.

Ludacris to Focus on Acting as Full-Time Gig

Although Ludacris is dropping his sixth album “Theater of the Mind” on October 21st, he recently told the Los Angeles Times that he is already planning to retire his hip-hop moniker of Ludacris for a long-term career in acting as Christopher Bridges.

“This is a different business and I do want to be taken seriously, so it’s back to being Chris Bridges,” said Bridges who will be in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film Rocknrolla and the video game adaption action film Max Payne.

While Bow Wow has recently told the press that he plans to retire to “become the next Will Smith,” Chris Bridges’ goals in acting are a bit more realistic. Even though Ludacris has had a lasting and successful career in hip-hop he knows it can only take him so far. Continue reading →

SOHH has learned that Ludacris just signed a multi-million dollar deal with phone giant AT&T, the first hip-hop act to land such a large contract with the company.

He’ll lend his likeness to online and TV ads promoting the service and he just wrapped shooting of his first commercial.

“I had a lot a fun shooting this commercial,” Luda said. “If you like the AT&T commercials you’ve seen then you’ll love this one.”

Ludacris..ahem…I mean Christopher Bridges plays Roman, manager for a famous recording artist who gets caught up with the Russian mob in the action-crime movie Rocknrolla. Movie is directed by Guy Ritchie and the trailer looks a lot like his classic form from his Snatch days. Mr. Bridges continues to blow it up on the acting front for 2008 as he is currently filming the action film Max Payne in Canada and finished filming the basketball film Ball Don’t Lie earlier this year as well.

Reuters ran a thorough expose on the social networking phenom, citing the inclusion of superstars like 50 Cent who have created their own networks via Ning. Even though artists maintain healthy followings via Myspace and Facebook, they don’t have access to the most vital aspect of their following, the fans email. With sensitive data like email and demographics, a social networking site can then be monetized by commercializing access to advertisers.

Identified as “next-generation” fan and web sites, social networks are becoming hubs where artists can not only have an intimate connection with their fanbase but they can also directly market to them, effectively excluding the middleman. Now portals such as Facebook and Myspace are looked at as “funnels” which help strengthen the membership on personalized social networks, like the Ning supported Thisis50.
Gina Bianchini, CEO of Ning summed it up best when she said, “They take and use services where they don’t know the users, don’t have access and don’t have full control, and funnel those fans to something they do control.”

Ludacris, the Pussycat Dolls and Ice Cube are cited as artist that have jumped on the bandwagon early and cemented their spots in the blossoming social network field. Ice Cube’s venture, UVNTV is a slightly different service, that allows its members to host their own TV channel.
