Bill O’ Reilly spars with Russell Simmons over Beyonce and proclaims she makes “exploitative garbage”. Wait to till he sees Rihanna’s ‘Pour It Up’ video, he might just have another one of his nuclear meltdowns on camera. Seriously Bill seems to be so late on these type of things, shit he should see some of the stuff Madonna did a 100 years ago and he might just have a heart attack. The ironic thing is this is the same guy who paid off a woman who accused him of sexual harassment at the workplace a number of years ago, and any time he goes on these tangents none of his guests ever bring it up. Instead of it being constructive interview about Russell’s new book ‘Success Through Stillness’, he masterfully spinned it to a conversation about Beyonce and had Russell on his heels once again. Though O’ Reilly proclaimed never to speak on his sexual harassment suit again, I would bet a dollar to a doughnut he is still that pervert, and knows every lyric to “Partition”.
This obviously was a PR stunt by M.I.A to get some much needed publicity and it worked perfectly. Some parents organization is going bat sh*t over this so expect this story to drag out until the next Super Bowl performance.

The Irish rock band U2 hasn’t toured since 2006, but it stands to make $25 million in a sweetheart stock deal, according to SEC filings Wednesday and people familiar with the matter.
In March, the band struck a 12-year deal with Live Nation Inc., that called for the concert promotion giant to pay U2 partly with stock. Live Nation promised to pay tens of millions of dollars to high-profile artists in exchange for several years’ worth of revenue from a broad range of their work, including concerts, online fan clubs and t-shirt sales. The idea was pitched as a novel way to make money in the ailing music business.
The company had held up the stock component of the U2 deal as evidence of the band’s faith in Live Nation, as well as confidence in its new business model. Continue reading
Is it me or are artists of today prone to busting their asses? Well it seems that Madonna is no exception. Check out the video. Also I still have not found the reason why $200 million dollar man A-Rod is so caught up with chicken leg Madonna.
Madonna has set off a new firestorm of controversy with her recent portrayal of John McCain
Well it seems the queen of controversy is at it again as she kicks off her world tour. You gotta give it to Madonna she has been pushing for years and it has keep her a superstar and has made her rich in the process. I know the Obama campaign might reject this stunt but underneath are loving every minute of it. Story below:
John McCain’s campaign hit back at Madonna on Sunday after the pop diva kicked off her world tour with a concert that bracketed the US presidential candidate with Adolf Hitler.McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds angrily condemned the segment of Madonna’s concert in Cardiff on Saturday that appeared to draw a comparison between McCain, Hitler and Zimbabwean strongman Robert Mugabe.
“The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time,” Bounds said in a statement reported by Fox News.
“It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits.”
Madonna’s apparent swipe at McCain came during a performance of the song “Get Stupid”, when the Republican contender’s image was flashed up alongside images of destruction and global warming as well as Hitler and Mugabe.
Towards the end of the song, pictures of Beatles star John Lennon, former US vice-president Al Gore, Indian Mahatma Gandhi and McCain’s Democrat rival Barack Obama appeared.
This is what A-Rod risked his marriage, family and a couple hundred million for. She looks deathly sick and in need of some of that ‘super cow’ I posted two days ago.
Madonna recently photographed in NYC looking very thin and frail.
Everybody has a bad angle, even Madonna.
The singer, 49, was photographed Friday leaving the Kaballah Center in New York looking gaunt and tired. But pictures can lie, says her publicist.
“I just think the photographer got a bad shot of her or it was touched up to make her look bad,” says her rep Liz Rosenberg. “I saw Madonna two days before at her rehearsal and she looked amazing – glowing skin and working really hard on her show.”
“She may look a little thinner than usual,” continues Rosenberg, “but she was dancing and singing better than ever and ate a nice healthy meal.”
Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Hoefflin says weight loss can make for sharp cheekbones.
“From a physician who has never evaluated or treated Madonna, it’s my impression that if she has lost significant weight, that you’re seeing a good amount of facial fat loss in her face,” he tells PEOPLE.
“The cheekbones can often stand out, appearing as [though] someone has undergone some form of mid-face enhancement,” he adds.

Once you are involved with Madonna you are scarred for life. If the Yankees so happen to get in the playoffs in addition to the pics expect chants of ‘Like a Virgin’.
These are the humble beginnings of an international star who would venture out into the taboo world of SEX and revolutionize it with her openness, expressiveness and defiance. These are photos from Madonna’s very first NUDE shoot and by the looks of things this must’ve went off without a hitch.

Like a Virgin?
“On 12 February, 1979, a quiet, shy young woman walked into my studio for the first time. She was the nude model for my photography class that evening. She said that she was a dancer, her name was Madonna Ciccone.”
Martin Schreiber, photographer
Years before Like A Virgin, Madonna posed for three hours for a struggling photographer, Martin Schreiber. She was paid with 10$ by hour (30$ in total). Some of those photos ended up in the September 85 Playboy, shortly after the “Like A Virgin” enormous success.
When these deals first broke, a very astute analyst on Reuters[here] said that after the deals, they would have to prove to investors they made fiscal sense and they would eventually be profitable.
There has been corporate infighting amongst the executives and these deals most likely will be reduced, even if not reported or leaked in the press, as to compromise with those who do not like the company’s current strategy. Breakdown below:
A battle has broken out among Live Nation Inc’s top executives over the concert-promotion company’s strategy to reshape the music industry by making big, expensive deals with artists, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Wednesday.
Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino has tried to slow the pace of multimillion-dollar deals with artists, while Chairman Michael Cohl wants to accelerate it by striking deals with as many as 15 more artists, the Journal reported.
Live Nation struck a $120 million deal with Madonna and a $150 million deal with Jay-Z, the paper reported. It has held talks for a similar deal with South American pop star Shakira, according to several people involved, though no agreement has been reached, the Journal said.
WTF? There she goes again, making a mockery of the culture but some of my fellow bloggers are just lapping it up, thinking this is some sort of compliment because Madonna is “acknowledging” us. Well, note to baby-bloggers this woman was embraced by Hip Hop some two decades ago when mainstream wasn’t feeling her loose-in-the-boots ass. She swang eps with several rappers so she knows we exist. This is not pandering, this is insulting. She got the fur and chains on because she intends on going on BET to pimp the culture, get it?
Live Nation Inc. confirmed on Thursday (5/1) that it has finalized its deal with Jay-Z for an unprecedented 10-year agreement that includes live shows, new music and front money for new ventures. Jay scores another accolade for snagging the largest music deal in history, second only to Madonna who also is in bed with Live Nation for a long spell. The reported price tag of $150 million wasn’t verified nor was it disputed by the company. What they did release was the news that Jay was given the option to by half a million stocks of Live Nation at $13.73 each, which would’ve already been a come-up, being that the stock closed at $14.40 yesterday, up 4.4 percent. Jay can be heard referring to the venture as “Roc-Nation” on the remix to “Blow The Whistle” released earlier this week.
Editor’s Note: That dude is serious about keeping those “4’s” in rotation. Its almost magical how he attracts that number. I wonder who is overseeing Roc-a-Fella, what label Kanye is on and what label Beans and Bleek is on?
Is he still the CEO of the ROC? Is the ROC actually ROC Nation? I mean can somebody get an interview with the Big Homie!
Jermaine Dupri has just announced the formation of TAG Records, a joint venture between Island Def Jam and Procter & Gamble’s TAG Body Spray. TAG Body Spray? Yeah, you know Dupri’s is Mr. Young, Fly & Fresh to Death so to assure that fresh smell why not form a label with a body spray company? There is no artist signed to this label as of yet but Dupri promises that they’ll get the biggest push of any artist to date. Mr. Dupri will be named president of this label. There will be a lot of cross branding, artist placement in commercials for the brand and different unique forms of exposure. It appears as if labels are taking note and following in the footsteps of recent joint mergers like Madonna’s brand with Live Nation, or their recent partnership with Jay-Z.
“Today, we make history in the music industry with TAG Records,” said Jermaine Dupri, president of TAG Records. “This label is going to provide new artists with a chance of a lifetime. New artists will receive ten times the typical marketing support – a first in the industry. I’m hand selecting and molding these artists to make history in hip hop.”

Researchers are warning against an alarming trend called the “Madonna effect.” “Third World” parents are putting their children up for adoption in droves with the hopes that “wealthy Westerners” will swoop down and provide their children with a more prosperous life a la Madonna’s adoption of a Zambian baby she later renamed “David.” The British psychologists at the heart of the research are warning against the widespread expoitation of the adoption process at the hands of agencies and governments who are profiting from the booming trade.
“Some celebrities have unwittingly encouraged international adoption, yet it has been shown that 96 per cent of children in orphanages across Europe and probably across the globe are not true orphans and have at least one parent, often known to the local authorities.”
Adoption from abroad is a booming trend in Europe because of the stringent rules that prohibit Europeans from adopting from within their own “borders” coupled with the celebrity endorsement of multi-ethnic adoptions made famous by Madonna and Angelina Jolie. With the music industry sales in a death-fall, the honchos at Def Jam and Warner are actually having a pretty good spring. Can’t miss artists Mariah Carey and Madonna have done serious damage to longstanding Elvis chart records and have their eyes firmly planted on The Beatles next.
Janet who has received a luke-warm response to her latest project is probably kicking herself.
As expected, Mariah Carey moved past Elvis Presley and into sole possession of second place for most No. 1 singles in the rock era, as “Touch My Body” soared 14 places on the Billboard Hot 100 to become the 18th chart-topper of her career.
Presley also was nudged from his standing as the recording artist with the most top-10 hits in the rock era, as Madonna surpassed him with her 37th top 10, “4 Minutes

Pop superstar Madonna has again changed the game with her upcoming promotion and marketing for her latest album Hard Candy due to released next month. With a new single with Justin Timberlake gaining traction, she has leveraged her power to cut deals with advertisers who will align her songs in commercials for their products.
In addition to getting fat checks from major corporations she is also getting the a ton of free promotion which will sustain her music in the minds of consumers. Great marketing moves that artists from all genres should take a look at. (wonder if Big Daddy Kane will make an appearance)

In its quest to rival the existing model of the music business Live Nation will be severing ties with Ticketmaster in 2009 to form their own ticketing service. Once this move is finalized Live Nation will be able to provide artists with complete services inclusive of merchandising, distribution, concert ticketing, venue placement and marketing of a product or an event. So not only will they be able to record an artist of the magnitude of a Madonna but they will be able to distribute her material, set her up for touring in their venues or venues they are affiliated with, merchandise her product to the concert-goers and make money off ticketing. Once an artist is properly positioned and sent through the Live Nation machine they won’t need the help of a major label anymore, or at least that is what they’re betting on. Below is an excerpt from the original article provided by the homies over at ThatsHipHop.com:
“We will have a fully operational new ticketing company and reach a new milestone in this journey,” Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino said on a conference call. “We expect to sell more than 20 million tickets annually.”
Ticketmaster said in August it had not been able to negotiate a new long-term agreement with Live Nation, its largest client, which generated about 15 to 20 percent of Ticketmaster revenue. Their deal expires at the end of 2008.
Live Nation is estimating it will pull in an additional $7.3 million in 2009 and roughly $17 million the following year. To read the FULL ARTICLE CLICK HERE.
The ending is near, make no mistake about it…if 2006 signaled the year that Hip Hop died, then 2007 will be noted as the year that the rest of the industry followed into that shallow grave. Like all things though, death only means new life and in this case the story of the year is the emergence of the new model of what the music industry will look like in the coming years. MTV did a three-part series about the changing of guard called “The Year The Industry Broke.” They included a thorough time-line of the trials and travesties the industry went through this year. Kanye West is the only exception, with him being poised to celebrate his best year ever until tragedy struck with the untimely death if his mother. This is a must read for anyone contemplating selling their soul to get into the industry. Sh*t, don’t take our word for it, below are some notable quotes from the MTV piece:
“Make no mistake about it, 2007 was a b-a-a-a-d year for the industry. According to Nielsen SoundScan, album sales were down 15 percent from 2006 (a trend that’s continued for eight straight years now); big-name artists jumped ship in increasingly complicated — and messy — ways; and the powers-that-be seemed to get even more heartless and disconnected, thanks to a series of lawsuits, feuds and terrible decisions.”
“It’s a new world now and people are thinking of new ways to reach the people, and for me that’s always been my aim.”
-Paul McCartney on his decision to sign with Starbuck’s new music label
Kanye West’s Graduation sells nearly 957,000 copiesto claim the top spot on the Billboard albums chart. 50 Cent’s Curtis bows at #2 with sales of more than 691,000. Both are the best first-week numbers of 2007 (besting Linkin Park’s Minutes to Midnight, which scanned 623,000 copies in May), and Graduation notches the biggest first week in nearly two years — beating, interestingly, West’s Late Registration, which sold more than 860,000 copies when it was released in September 2005.

Editor’s Note:I have to sadly report that no major Hip Hop artists are included on the list of musicians that are leading the pack and making the shift in this new digital industry. On the contraire they are the ones holding on and holding up the plantation…without ring tone sales labels would be completely six feet under. When will we see the light? Oh, shout out to Buddens for making the switch.
