[video] Nick Cannon on Celebs Gang Banging: It’s a Source of Insecurity

In Nick Cannon’s recent interview with VladTV, Vlad brings up the fact that Nick Cannon has been a celebrity since he was very young. Nick immediately dispels the notion that he is out of touch or “in a bubble.” “I’m on the ground level,” he said, “I do so much that people don’t know about…to make sure these young people have opportunities.” From there, Nick describes his career arc, from growing up in a rough neighborhood, to breaking onto Nickelodeon, to making money and gratifying his ego, and now to giving back to his community. He also states that while a lot of celebrities claim gangs, it’s a source of insecurity and that he “never wants to glorify it.”

Mariah Carey’s video ‘Obsessed’ to premiere on Nick’s ‘Got Talent’

Yeah why not give your hubby the world premiere of your video that is squarely aimed at arch nemesis Eminem in primetime? Access Hollywood has got the scoop:

LOS ANGELES – Mariah Carey caught plenty of attention recently for the costumes she was spotted dressed up in across New York City as she filmed the music video for her single “Obsessed.”

And fans will get to see the final product next week.

Carey announced that “Americas Got Talent,” the show hosted by the pop singer’s husband, Nick Cannon, will premiere her “Obsessed” video on July 15.

“Just wanna let you know that the world premiere of the ‘Obsessed’ video is on ‘America’s Got Talent’ (hosted by NCx0x) Wed.night..July 15th!” Carey wrote on her Twitter account on Friday.

Brett Ratner directed the video, which finds Carey dressed up in drag, complete with a beard, in the clip. Carey’s male look shows striking similarities to Eminem’s look.

Eminem recently rapped about Carey in the song “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” on his comeback album, “Relapse.” It was unknown at press time if Carey’s video will offer a playful payback in her video.

Carey will release her new album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” on August

[video] The World Stops for the King of Pop Memorial (STICKY POST)

Even in his farewell, Michael Jackson has united people acoss the world and provided us with an opportunity to focus on the power of love rather than on our differences. Anyone who tuned into the live broadcast of the memorial for the King of Pop would at the very least have been moved when Paris Jackson tearfully told the world that “my daddy was the best father.”

While receiving worldwide coverage, Michael Jackson’s memorial was heartfelt and intimate as Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Brooke Shields, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz, Usher, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Motown founder Barry Gordy, Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III and Bernice King shared their stories.

From Magic Johnson’s story of Michael Jackson enjoying Kentucky Fried Chicken to Al Sharpton telling Paris, Blanket and Prince that there wasn’t anything strange about their father brought truth center stage.

With such a beautiful out pour of love for Michael as he is laid to rest, we cannot help but wish that he was here see and feel our embrace. What if we would have stood up for him when mainstream media sought to destroy him. Only after his death do we hear so many public professions of love and stern proclamations of Michael’s innocence against the child molestation allegations.

Even the admission of Jordan Chandler that his father pushed him to lie on Michael Jackson is not enough to shield MJ from the critics venom as we were forced to listen to damning speculations and negativity that usurped his legend in the mainstream media throughout the week. And while critics took shots, the fans persistently celebrated his life with tributes from NYC to China.

In this, I hope we learn that it is our obligation to stand up for truth and seize the moment to share our love for each other while time allows. Furthermore, we understand that we, the people, the public, have the power to shape to provoke and accomplish real change.

Thank you Michael.

Nick Cannon Calls Eminem Attack on Mariah Racist

At the risk of augmenting album sales for a performer I don’t personally support, I call your attention to Eminem’s latest track attack on Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon’s confrontational response.

This back and forth is a little more interesting than the standard diss and diss back, because Cannon calls out the racial dynamic of Eminem’s sexually derogatory attacks on Mariah Carey in a track called ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad’ from Eminem’s forthcoming album, ‘Relapse.’

Here’s just an excerpt of what Cannon had to say to Eminem, calling him “Slim Lamey,” via a Friday blog post, which seems to have been taken down:

Maybe I’m going too far, but I thought we moved beyond the days where white men could spew vulgar obscenities at our beautiful queens and get away with it. What’s next? Continue reading

Tired of the ‘same ole’ remixes from Timbaland and Jermaine Dupri?

Well enter this great contest from Mariah Carey and a new online start up called Indaba Music that puts all you up and coming producers to the test. They have some great opportunities if you win and could possibly vault you in the atmosphere and expose you to working with the top female artist of all-time .

via Reuters/Billboard

Starting July 15, the complete stems of “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time,” from Carey’s Island release, will be made available to the members of Indaba Music, an online community for aspiring and established producers and artists.

“This contest is a way for her to continue being a pioneer in the remix world, potentially finding a new sound, a new power, a new energy in the online space, as opposed to just the go-to producers of the moment.”

The contest involves elements of fan voting, user-generated content and social networking. Entrants must join Indaba by creating a profile and can then download the song stems, work on their mix and submit it via the site by August 26. The Indaba community will pick its 10 favorite mixes via online voting.

Three judges — including Sudack, who co-executive-produced “E=MC2” — will then select the winner. The producer of the winning mix will receive $5,000, be designated as Carey’s No. 1 MySpace friend for four weeks and possibly have his or her work released.

With the music industry sales in a death-fall, the honchos at Def Jam and Warner are actually having a pretty good spring. Can’t miss artists Mariah Carey and Madonna have done serious damage to longstanding Elvis chart records and have their eyes firmly planted on The Beatles next.
Janet who has received a luke-warm response to her latest project is probably kicking herself.

As expected, Mariah Carey moved past Elvis Presley and into sole possession of second place for most No. 1 singles in the rock era, as “Touch My Body” soared 14 places on the Billboard Hot 100 to become the 18th chart-topper of her career.

Presley also was nudged from his standing as the recording artist with the most top-10 hits in the rock era, as Madonna surpassed him with her 37th top 10, “4 Minutes

Morning shows battle for Mariah Concert

[Benny Medina with former client Tyra Banks and current client Mariah Carey]

Famed manager Benny Medina definetly knows how to play hardball (sans Chris Mathews)!. It is being reported that in promotion of Mariah’s Carey’s new album, he negotiated with NBC to have her perform for their concert series in Rockefeller Plaza. Inorder for NBC to secure her appearance they would have to give her a cameo appearance on hit show “My Name is Earl”, and give her fragrance some added promotion. Classic arm twisting.
