[video] Red Tails (Lucasfilm Official Trailer)

This trailer has sparked alot of negative comments on Youtube and goes to show you even with a black president we have a very long way to go with racism.

1944. World War II rages and the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. Meanwhile the black pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program are courageously waging two wars at once — one against enemies overseas, and the other against discrimination within the military and back home. Racial prejudices have long held ace airman Martin “Easy” Julian (Nate Parker) and his black pilots back at base — leaving them with little to do but further hone their flying skills — while their white counterparts are shipped out to combat after a mere three months of training. Mistakenly deemed inferior and assigned only second-rate planes and missions, the pilots of Tuskegee have mastered the skies with ease but have not been granted the opportunity to truly spread their wings. Until now.

Rapper Method Man Arrested For Tax Evasion

When will these stars learn that they need to pay their damn taxes and start taking better responsibility with their finances. Well XXL is reporting that everyone’s favorite weed head is in the pokey for not paying Uncle Sam.

Method Man is currently in police custody on tax-evasion charges according to the Staten Island Advocate.

Apparently Meth is at Shaolin’s 120 Police Precinct awaiting arraignment. As of press time details on the case are unclear, but it may be related to Tical’s tax problems from last March. As previously reported, the department of taxation repossessed his Lincoln Navigator after he failed to pay $52,503 in arrears.

Meth blamed the ordeal on his marijuana consumption. “Myself, I’m a pothead,” he told New York’s Daily News in March. “It’s no secret. Everyone knows that. I go on the road and forget everything else.”

Lawsuit: Method Man Accused of Shooting a Female Fan With a BB Gun

It has been the best and worst of years for legendary rapper Method Man. The Blackout album with Redman has had moderate success and his beef with Joe Budden has some calling him chicken for not giving Joey a verbal lashing over a RZA beat. Now some fan is saying he sprayed her with a BB gun:

When Mary Anderson of Fort Bend County allegedly asked rapper Method Man for an autograph after a show last November at Houston’s House of Blues, she claims she got a different kind of signature: A wound in the stomach from a pellet gun.

Anderson is suing Method Man, more formally known as Clifford Smith, in Harris County District Court for allegedly shooting at her six times with a pellet gun. According to the lawsuit, Anderson attended a rap concert where Method Man and Redman were performing.
Afterward, Anderson joined a group of fans outside, where Method Man was signing autographs out of the back window of a bus. When Anderson handed Method Man her ticket stub for him to sign, Method Man suddenly pulled out a pellet gun and began firing, hitting Anderson in the torso, according to the lawsuit.

Anderson’s attorney, Daniel Horowitz, tells Hair Balls that Anderson suffered permanent scarring on her chest, stomach and breast area.

“You can’t just go around the country shooting people like that,” says Horowitz, “and then leave town and not think anything’s going to happen.”

Anderson claims she had to seek medical treatment for the wounds and is suing for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Horowitz says Method Man has not yet been served.

[video] Joe Budden: Up Close & Personal

Say what you will about the nonsensical beef brewing between Joe Budden and Method Man, but you have to commend the man for speaking his mind and sticking to his opinions, of which everyone is granted one. Keep it lyrical and arrange a pay per view this way everyone gets to benefit from the spectacle, Hip Hop needs it right about now. Shout out to the Exec for another tight one-on-one.

Ghostface: How I Nearly Killed Method Man In A Tour Prank Gone Wrong

Raekwon,+Ghostface+&+MethodMan

via HHC Digital

Pretty Toney might not have impressed the PopBitch massive with his London gig, but there’s still time to catch him and his Theodore roadies in the UK when they bring the ruckus to theirremaining UK gigs.

In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak preview from HHC Digital’s interview with Ghost Deini that’ll be appearing in full in the next issue…

“A tour’s about having fun, doing what you gotta do, get to your destination safe, get back safe and just rocking the people, man. We had a lotta fun, a lotta things you can’t even talk about… But I remember one time we was in the hotel when we was younger – me, Method Man and all of us, we’d play tricks on each other. We took the fire extinguisher while he was asleep, went to his room, put it under his door, and just let the whole fire extinguisher out in his room!

“So he started choking though, but that wasn’t good. We was young, we could’a kilt him! He was breathing all of that in, and he came out the door, coughing, and his whole head was white! That was one of the moments from back then that you remember that was kinda like crazy, but you learn from that.”

[video] WU TANG- New Wu

I knew it was something in the air, I been listening to early Ghost all week, then I been catching some new fever courtesy of Raekwon, now this. They can f*ck around and salvage the summer if they execute this campaign with precision. Plus I see they got the RZA back in the mix, it needs to be a Shaolin revolution this summer.

The vets to the rescue!  This joint is absolutely bananas, thus reinforcing my argument that the only ones that can resuscitate this dying artform are the legends that have already mastered the formula (with a few exceptions like Nipsey).  These dudes are rapping their asses off, well into their 30’s. This apparently ain’t no country for young boys, where is the teenage spitters?  I can only do the Stanky Leg but for so long, or the motha f*ckin’ Ricky Bobby.

Method Man and Redman are hip hop’s chameleons

via NY Daily News

On a hazy soundstage in Midtown, Method Man and Redman, clad in matching powder blue tuxedos, sway in unison in front of a horde of girls as they croon into 50’s-style microphones.

Not the kind of music video shoot you’d expect from the hip-hoppers who put rap on the map in the 90’s, but for their latest album, “Blackout 2,” the titans of the game are changing the face of it yet again.

For their new single, “Mrs. International,” the duo wanted a fresh look and feel.

“Honestly, I just want this [album] to be heard. That’s all. If you listen to the song that we’re doing for the video right now, it’s like ‘Is this a Redman and Method Man song?’ It doesn’t seem like we would ever make a song like this,” Method Man said during a break from shooting.

“We’re maturing. We evolved and learned a lot more from when we dropped the first album. And the s— we did in the ‘90’s we can’t do now,” Redman said, changing into a Rick James outfit for the next scene. The album, out on Def Jam on May 19th, is an “intertwining of old school and new school,” Redman explains.

“I think our era was one of the best eras in hip hop because it really closed the gap between old school and the new school,” he continued. “So with this album, we wanted a bit of that old flair and mixed it in with new, fresh sounds.”

The result is a surprisingly pleasant melodic mix of catchy lyrics, head-bopping beats, and hooks that you keep repeating long after hearing them. But just because the sound is new doesn’t mean the stars have changed their infamous personas. Continue reading

Kanye West, Common, & record labels sued over jazz samples

Entertainer Kanye West performs during the Desert Rhythm Festival in Dubai October 26, 2007. West, Method Man, Redman, Common and their record companies were sued on Thursday by late U.S. jazz musician Joe Farrell\'s daughter, who accused them of using her father\'s music without approval.

Sampling has been an issue in Hip Hop since Biz Markie had an album snatched off the shelves for not clearing pieces of musical compositions he used in his songs. Well it has surfaced again in 2008 with some of your favorites in hot water with the daughter of a prominent jazz musician. Reuters got the scoop:

Rappers Kanye West, Method Man, Redman, Common and their record companies were sued on Thursday by late U.S. jazz musician Joe Farrell’s daughter, who accused them of using her father’s music without approval.

The lawsuit, filed by Kathleen Firrantello in the U.S. District Court in New York, names the rappers along with various labels owned by Universal Music Group./

None of the record companies or representatives for the rappers were immediately available for comment.

The lawsuit said all the rappers used portions of Farrell’s 1974 musical composition “Upon This Rock” in three separate songs — West in “Gone,” Common in “Chi-City” and Method Man and Redman in their song “Run 4 Cover.”

Firrantello is seeking punitive damages of at least $1 million and asked that no further copies of the songs be made, sold or performed, according to the lawsuit.

My Hollywood sources are telling me that Method Man has been in talks with a couple of film production companies this past month to bring his upcoming graphic novel entitled “Method Man” to the big screen. Graphic novel is in collab with artist Sanford Greene with early sketches shown here. “Private investigator Mosley Paine hasn’t always been a P.I. Before retiring to civillian life, he was a top agent of an international conspiracy known as the Order of the Secret Method, a deeply religious assembly of elite “murder priests”, descended from the Biblical Cain, who hunt creatures thought only to exist in Biblical myth. Though an excellent Method Man, Mosley suffered expulsion from the sect when it was discovered that he was having an affair with the irresistable daughter of Grand Arch Occisor d’Arc, head of the organization. But when Mosley’s arch nemisis enemy–a Leviathan of giant proportions–reappears stronger than ever and threatens to destroy all that is good, Mosley is convinced to rejoin the Secret Method to lead the epic fight against it.”
