MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Doctors have released photographs of Ronald Poppo, more than two weeks after the homeless man had much of his face chewed off during an attack by so-called Causeway Cannibal Rudy Eugene over the Memorial Day weekend.

Doctors from Jackson Memorial Hospital told reporters Tuesday that Poppo is awake and alert and showed a photograph of Poppo walking down a hospital hallway, supported by hospital staff on either side of him. It’s not known when the picture was taken.

The photo shows the upper two-thirds of Poppo’s face covered in thick, bloody scabs. He’s missing his nose and both eye sockets are covered, one with gauze and one with what appears to be a skin graft.

Pitbull Wins Inaugural Billboard Latin Download Award

Miami rapper Pitbull was honored on Thursday (April 23) night byBillboard in winning the first ever “Latin Digital Download Artist of the Year.”

The title was presented at the annual Latin Music Awards, and awarded based on Pitbull’s breakout, Lil Jon-assisted single “Krazy.”

Having beat out fellow nominees Aventura, Enrique Iglesias, and Shakira, Pitbull was humbled by the strong fan support he’s received throughout his career.

“This is the beginning of a new phase in my career and it’s an honor to win this award with such great artists nominated in the same category,” Pitbull explained to AllHipHop.com. “It just goes to show that hard work does pay off. Thank you to the fans; without them none of this would be possible.”

The Latin emcees credits a multi-faceted media campaign for much of his success.

Xzibit Clarifies Comments Made About Diddy, Says There Is No Beef

Following comments made during an interview on satellite radio where he detailed a night out with Diddy that ended at a possibly gay club, rapper Xzibit has released a statement to clarify reports.

Despite how the interview sounded, X states “I have no beef with Diddy,” according to the title of his most recent MySpace blog. The rapper claims that his comments in a recent interview was not intended to be malicious in anyway.

“I wake up this morning and my phone is going nuts. I turn on the computer and find all this sh** about me “throwing puffy under the gay bus” … whatever that means,” X writes. “All this SPIN that you journalist[s] are putting on the statements I made on a radio show — to DIRECTLY effect a guy in a manor not intended — is wrong.

“I got a call yesterday (which caught me off guard) from Diddy himself, stating the club was an after hours spot called ‘Space’ I believe. The rumor mill that has ground this bullsh** out to be the sh** storm that it is, is doing so on its own accord. Like I said at the top, I have no beef with Diddy.”

As previously reported, the West Coast rapper gave FoxxHole Radio on Sirius an exclusive interview a year ago, where he detailed a New Years Eve party spent with Diddy, where things that followed seemed a little weird.

In the interview, X said that Diddy took he and Superhead to a club in Miami, and when they got there, what they saw shocked them.

N.O.R.E. Arrested For Assaulting Man At Fatburger

N.O.R.E. was arrested at a Fatburger restaurant in Miami yesterday (February 23) following a fight with another customer at the eatery.

According to The Associated Press, N.O.R.E. got into a dispute with another man at the resturant early Sunday and then ripped up a bouquet of flowers and threw a cup filled with yellow liquid at the man.

The rapper would then punch the man in the face yelling “Do you know who I am?”

N.O.R.E. was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanour battery and disorderly conduct before he was released.

Tomorrow morning Pitbull, along with his foundation, Imaginate, the Florida Marlins and Miami’s Power 96 will be collecting toys to help less fortunate children this holiday season.”Mr. 305″ will be personally donating $5,000 to the Amigos for Kids Foundation as well as signing autographs, collecting presents and wrapping them up during the drive. The Cuban American rapper hopes to surprise over 1,000 children with gifts this Christmas.
Power 96 will be on hand broadcasting live from the toy drive with their morning show crew, including DJ Laz.

While the presents are collected and wrapped, Florida Marlins cheerleaders and mascots will have contests and giveaways for all the children on hand.
The event will be held at the Wal-Mart on 9300 NW 77th Ave in Hialeah Gardens, Florida. The drive kicks off 6am and will conclude.

MIAMI — The Drug Enforcement Administration discovered something unexpected in the Mall of the Americas.

DEA agents found a hydroponics lab with more than 200 marijuana plants, standing 3 to 6 feet tall in the air and worth millions of dollars, in a storage area on the second floor of the mall.

Authorities said the electricity that powered the lab was diverted from the mall’s main power supply.

No arrests have been made. Authorities said officials with the Mall of the Americas are cooperating with the investigation.

Hip-Hop star Rick Ross has hit back at recent reports surrounding his previous employment with the Florida Department of Corrections.

During an interview on Friday (July 25), Ross addressed the latest developments as “rumors” and maintained that he is a victim of a massive smear campaign.

Speaking to Phoenix, Arizona Hip-Hop station Power 98.3 (KKFR-FM), he responded to the question of his past employment by simply saying “Don’t believe the hype.”

MIAMI (AP) — An alleged brothel-on-wheels that authorities said they busted over the weekend gives a whole new meaning to keeping the party moving.

Miami Beach undercover detectives who paid a $40 entry fee and boarded a stretch limousine bus Sunday found women onboard offering oral sex and lap dances for money, authorities said.

Authorities arrested Christine Morteh, 29, of Miramar, and the driver, Clyde Scott, along with four other people Sunday. Miami-Dade jail spokeswoman Janell Hall said Morteh faces charges including offering to commit or engage in prostitution, conducting business without a license, directing another to a place of prostitution and deriving support from prostitution.

The Liberty City Seven To Be Prosecuted Third Time On Terrorism Charges

The US Government has announced plans to try for an unprecedented third time to convict members of the “Liberty City Seven” on purported charges of plotting to blow up US interests, including the Sears Tower and several FBI offices through out the US. Both previous trials have ended up deadlocked with a jury unable to bring back a conviction on any of the defendants. The first trial in fact ended with them (jurors) acquitting one member of the “Liberty City Seven.”

Now, to refresh your memories this was a much publicized story in 2006 that the government alleged was proof that there were cell groups operated within the borders of the US, plotting on behalf of Al Qaeda. The majority of their prosecution came via a planted informant who recorded hundreds of hours of conversations between himself and the men, who were videotaped taking an allegiance to Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. According to Narseal Baptiste, the alleged ringleader, the oath was a hoax and their goal was to use the promised funds to uplift their downtrodden neighborhood of Liberty City.
