Ya’ll sleep …Tip went in on this.
Elaine Brown has serious problems with the BLM movement, questionable ties to the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton and has expressed so in an interview with Spiked..
I don’t know what Black Lives Matter does, so I can’t tell you how it compares to what the Black Panther Party was. I know what the BPP was. I know the lives we lost, the struggle we put into place, the efforts we made, the assaults on us by the police and government – I know all that. I don’t know what Black Lives Matter does. So if you can tell me, I’ll give you my thoughts.’
So says Elaine Brown, activist, singer and former chairwoman of the Black Panther Party, talking to me from her home in Oakland, California. She doesn’t like my question. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party, a revolutionary, socialist, black-power organisation formed in Oakland by then college students Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. And, as journalists scrabble to pen pieces about ‘what’s changed’, cack-handed comparisons abound.
I ask Brown about Black Lives Matter, the movement that erupted in the wake of the shooting of Mike Brown, an unarmed black teenager, in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014. This nebulous hashtag-come-protest movement has been compared – both by its supporters and detractors – with the BPP; it’s either hailed as a continuation of the struggle or slammed as a resurgence in ‘divisive’, ‘militant’ black nationalism. Talking to Brown it becomes clear that both sides give BLM too much credit.

The New York Police Department officer who choked Eric Garner to death during a confrontation over the sale of individual cigarettes is still on the force two years after Garner’s death. His daughter, Erica Garner, tells RT America’s Anya Parampil that she is still speaking with the US Department of Justice and members of Congress, trying to seek justice for her father’s killing. She also talks about her efforts to bridge the gap between police and the black community.
So I guess he was the only one ‘in fear for his life’ because none of the other officers discharged their weapons.
Chicago officer Jason Van Dyke has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
Shockingly there are a bunch of people supporting this brutality against this guy because a few drivers were obviously delayed by this protest. So I guess capitalism and rushing home to watch TV is more important than the serious issues we face in this country.
Justice or money?
“New York City reached a settlement with the family of Eric Garner on Monday, agreeing to pay $5.9 million to resolve a wrongful death claim over his killing by the police on Staten Island last July, a lawyer for the family said.
The agreement, reached just a few days before the deadline to file suit, headed off one potentially fractious legal battle over Mr. Garner’s death even as a federal inquiry into the killing and several others at the state and local level remain open and could provide a further accounting of how he died.
Still, the settlement was a pivotal moment in a case that has engulfed the city and the Police Department since the afternoon of July 17, 2014, when two officers approached Mr. Garner as he stood unarmed on a sidewalk and accused him of selling untaxed cigarettes.” *

The woman who came to her rescue has the heart of a f*cking lion. These cops had every intention of taking her and doing who knows what to her. Police the police.

An NYPD sergeant was shot in the head and chest and critically wounded in Queens on Saturday.
The anti-crime officer worked out of the 105th Precinct in Queens Village and was on duty when he was hit at around 6:15 p.m. It was not clear whether he was in uniform – anti-crime officers often do plainclothes patrols.
A suspect was holed up in a nearby building at 212th Street and 104th Avenue. Police sent hostage negotiaters to try to talk him out – but it was not clear if he actually was holding people against their will.
The cop was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in a radio car.
The officer was the fifth New York City cop shot in the last five months.
Twitter user @POPSspotsports has come forward with some interesting pictures and recollections from his encounter with Baltimore activist Joseph Kent last night. This young man was not only peaceful, he was assisting police and also acted as a mediator between them and the protesters. This is someone who was clearly not anti-police, not a ‘thug’, not provocative, not inciting riots, etc.
Hypocrisy at its finest.
You don’t say?
Don’t know the full story yet, will update as details emerge. I guess cops have no idea how to remedy a situation without brutal violence.
The people want to know what happened to Freddie Gray in that van?
What the f*ck happened to this brother? The Mayor of Baltimore needs to cut the bullsh*t and get to the bottom of this or her city is gonna be an inferno soon. Another black man meets his death at the hands of police.
The Baltimore Police Department is coming under growing criticism following Freddie Gray’s death in police custody. Concerns include the use of excessive force and the failure of officers to follow police protocol. Ben Swann spoke to former US Marshal Matthew Fogg, who said there wasn’t enough evidence even to arrest the 25-year-old.
I dare a human being on this earth to say in my face that this sh*t is some isolated incident garbage. This is business as usual in every police dept. in this country.
Message to the streets. …. Real Growth and Development..

White privilege at its finest? The restraint these officers showed is unprecedented because black males are being murdered with their hands up and running away from police officers everyday in this country and this family was fighting to the death.
Shot in the back like an animal. Another black man murdered in cold blood by the police. The KKK is alive and well.

WASHINGTON — A white police officer in North Charleston, S.C., was charged with murder on Tuesday after a video surfaced showing him shooting in the back and killing an apparently unarmed black man while the man ran away.
The officer, Michael T. Slager, 33, said he had feared for his life because the man had taken his stun gun in a scuffle after a traffic stop on Saturday. A video, however, shows the officer firing eight times as the man, Walter L. Scott, 50, fled. The North Charleston mayor announced the state charges at a news conference Tuesday evening.
If you read the anti-cop comments on youtube you can get a strong sense that police have become the most hated group in these times. They are the ultimate pawns of the government. No update on what happened with the suspect as of yet.
A police officer in San Jose, California was shot to death Tuesday after responding to a call about a man threatening to commit suicide. Officers closed off several streets in East San Jose as they searched for the shooter. (March 25)
Things just got real. The people are tired of the racist Ferguson police dept. and it should be disbanded immediately.
Two police officers have been shot in Ferguson. One was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot in the face, says Missouri Police Chief Jon Belmar.
Another mother in mourning after her son is gunned down in cold blood by police.
Mother of slain black teen says son’s death ‘baffles’ her.Tony Robinson, 19, was shot and killed by Madison police after they responded to a call … “Initial findings at the scene did not reflect a gun or anything of that nature that … “My son has never been a violent person,” she said.
Kill my son and I want blood, not an empty apology from a historically racist police force.
The mother of a 12-year-old boy who was fatally shot by Cleveland police says she is offended by the city’s response to a family lawsuit, and says she has yet to receive an apology from the city for the shooting. (March 3)
So when are they gonna do one with police officers asking them about their true feeling towards black people and black men in particular? Police depts. across the country are being exposed in recently released reports, as using racial profiling in their policing of urban communities which is old news in itself.
Somebody is gonna take the fall for this in a big way. Glad this video is getting some media attention now. Where are all the free speech advocates rushing to defend them?
A city-funded legal aid organization knowingly participated in a music video where artists rapped that it was “time to start k!lling these coppers” and pointed guns at a man dressed as an NYPD officer, the city’s Department of Investigation has found.
The Bronx Defenders, a criminal defense firm that receives about $20 million every year in public funding, let rappers Uncle Murda and Maino shoot portions of their “Hands Up” music video in their offices near Yankee Stadium and then tried to cover up its involvement, according to a DOI report.
Hit the the cut to see what they are saying is the actual shootout caught on surveillance cameras.
Must watch. Cartoon by Hip Hop Cartoons
I guess the tried, tested and true system of the NYPD investigating itself has kicked in after this video went viral.
The NYPD is looking into why an officer got physical with a guy who was filming a viral video for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
The dancer is Alexander BOK, and he bills himself as “your favorite prankster” … that is unless you’re one of the cops he attempted to bust a move on in the middle of a NYC street.
Cole goes to Letterman to do a soulful performance of “Be Free” with a new verse.
I guess Charles Barkley would say Richard Pryor was out of his mind back then too. This is from the classic Richard Pryor Live in Concert.
Kenny who I have watched for years on TNT speaks eloquently to Charles Barkley about his idiotic and reprehensible comments on recent racial issues concerning the black community and an out of control police force. All I can say is #FUCKCHUCK
I hope this finds you in the way I always see you, in great spirits, with great joy and full of life. There are some things I want to openly say to you that sometimes in conversation get lost.
Firstly I lied! You ARE the greatest Power Forward of all time. It’s not (Tim) Duncan or (Karl) Malone, they had size and height that you weren’t blessed with and you never had near the talent around you that they were blessed to have. Contrarily you took your teams to similar heights. Secondly, you are a champion in my book. Effort and determination is what makes a champion, not a ring.
As long as you are running, catching and being brutally hit in a NFL game, you are obviously okay with most of the baby boomers in white America. As soon as you speak out against historical injustice against blacks perpetrated by an out control police force (who are ready to put a nightstick to anybody’s head these days) you become a target. Bravo to these brothers Stedman Bailey, Jarred Cook, and Kenny Britt who took a stand. I am posting the SLPOA full statement below:
“St. Louis, Missouri (November 30, 2014) – The St. Louis Police Officers Association is profoundly disappointed with the members of the St. Louis Rams football team who chose to ignore the mountains of evidence released from the St. Louis County Grand Jury this week and engage in a display that police officers around the nation found tasteless, offensive and inflammatory.
and Don Lemon too.
Most underreported story of the past few days. Bill and his accusers get wall to wall coverage while this gets none.
A rookie New York City police officer shot and killed an unarmed 28-year-old man in a darkened stairwell in Brooklyn late Thursday night, according to the police.
This lady’s letter was very heartfelt and though she calls out Kanye for being MIA when it comes to the important issues going on in Ferguson and across the country, to which even our President has had to discuss on occasion, she did it with intelligence love and with no judgement. Sadly Ye’ seems to be more concerned with the worship of Kim K. and making sure she is viewed as a fashion icon, his own problems behind the scenes within the lily white fashion industry, and being viewed as a genius than the plight of the black community. Hopefully his silence is just temporary and he makes some strong statements in his new music releasing sometime soon.

You have spent much of your career defying naysayers and the standards people have set for you. You refused to be intimidated by guys on the South Side of Chicago for your creativity. You broke free of being only a producer when you proved Jay Z wrong and became one of the biggest names in rap music. When music executives tried to control the content of your music, you released the now-infamous “Jesus Walks.” When Nike would not give you creative control over Yeezys, you took a deal with Adidas instead.
You are, by definition, defiant. And I love that about you.
Though the mainstream media has focused all of their attention on Ebola, the fight for justice for Mike Brown continues in Ferguson. Actor Jesse Williams speaks to Democracy Now about why he has been vocal and joined the frontlines with the protesters.
The League of Young Voters and Cashmere Agency in conjunction with AllHipHop, ThoughtWorks and HandsUp United hosted an intimate breakfast called, No Guns Allowed: Fallout from Ferguson in Atlanta during BET Hip-Hop Awards weekend.
