BIG TRIBUTE COVER

March 9th is the day when we lost the late great “Francis M.H.” 12 years ago…and lucky me, my born day follows right after on March 10th. So today is always the bitter before the sweet for me….Someone asked me recently if there was anyone out there that I wish I could interview that I never had a chance to…and there’s no question: I wish I had a chance to talk to Big again, but  “inside the rapper’s studio” style…never was there a more charismatic multi-layered fellow.

Drama and Cookin’ Soul put together this new project in honor of Biggie Day featuring folks like Styles P, Jean Grae, Emilio Rojas, Nipsey Hussle and more remaking Big classics…Thank you to both Drama and CS for reaching out….

[video] MissInfo.TV gets first Cam’ron Interview

How ironic that the same week 50 is ordering up a customized coffin for Rick Ross, Cam’ron jumps out of his casket, reincarnated. He started the week of strong with a video and social network platform that dropped out of thin air, Tuesday saw the release of the XXL cover that officially announced his return. Wednesday was his 33rd birthday, Thursday he did his first radio interview via Leo G’s Dipset Radio and here we have his first sitdown with Miss Info, which dropped today. Damn what a week!

Will The Real Lil Wayne Album Cover Please Stand Up?

After this flick (on the left) of Lil Wayne’s supposed album cover was uploaded to Amazon yesterday, igniting a firestorm on the net Miss Info popped up with this photo (on the right) saying this should be the rightful cover of Wayne’s The Carter III. Now, I swore I’ve seen the pic on the right before as a promo copy of the highly anticipated album The Carter 3 earlier this year.

Either way it is clever marketing whether intentionally done by Wayne or one of his legions of Stans he has online. It has brought the anticipation of this project up another notch. Which do you prefer? Which will make you go to retail and plunk down piece of your stimulus check? Let us know

Maybe Gloria Stienem and Geraldine Ferraro should be taking shots at Snoop instead of Barack.

“”How many ugly women selling records? None! Only the pretty ones sell records. Beyonce, Mary J, Keyshia Cole, the ugly ones don’t sell. I ain’t gon say no names, but they don’t sell records. They just be singing their little hearts out, but they don’t get no sales, cause they ugly. Now, that’s my fault? I can see this on TV now:Snoop Dogg called me, ugly.’ You beautiful on the inside, baby. What I wanna say to go on top of that, to the chocolate women, the dark-skinned women, I love ya’ll. I got a chocolate daughter at home. I always tell her chocolate is the best thing in the world….

and then Snoop on women in hip hop videos….

Smirnoff Mixing It Up With Hip Hop

With the current rap recession and the record label budget drought, I have a theory that corporate america that will end up being the “white knight” (ah, the irony) for many artists and ambitious projects from here on out….

Remember, in the 90’s, St. Ides was demonized for hawking that liquid-crack via Ice Cube, Geto Boys, Biggie etc? But now we appreciate that the tracks were actually good, and that the Crooked-I was funding artists who weren’t getting Covergirl and K-Swiss ads back then. Last year, Nike paid the big bucks that no one else would to get Just Blaze and Juelz Santana together again, to get Nas/Kanye/Rakim/KRS/and Premier together, and to throw a party with all of the above for their Air Force One anniversary.  So this month, Smirnoff and Cornerstone Promotions (props to Chris Atlas and Rob Stone) are making art and commerce work together for our benefit. To promote the new Smirnoff Signature Mix drinks, they’ve commissioned Common and Just Blaze to remake “The Light,” Q-tip and Cool n Dre to remake Tribe’s “Midnight,” and KRS-One and DJ Premier to remake “Criminal Minded.”  All of the artists will be perform their classics live at the Smirnoff/Cornerstone launch party on Feb, 26th. And then the actual remakes will be available as a free download on Smirnoff.com.

PS: the homie Rik Cordero and Three21Media will also be involved in this project with some goodies to soon come : )
