[video] All Lives Matter Supporter Jerry Rice Slammed for Popeyes “Wingovations” commercial

screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-12-12-04-pm

Did Jerry sell out or nah? If you ask Black Twitter it is a resounding yes. Imagine the cringe-worthy meeting between Jerry and the marketing executives at Popeyes when they loaded up the Powerpoint presentation and showed him the chicken helmet. Safe to say Colin Kaeperknick was nowhere in the vacinity. To see the actual commercial hit the jump..

[video] Is the NFL Draft Modern Day Slavery?

With the thick of the NFL season approaching and the start of the NBA season tonight, a valid question has be posed as to whether modern day sports are comparable to the slave trade. Elite athletes are often called studs and compared to animals all the time. Popular running back Marshawn Lynch calls him self ‘beast mode’ and we all know slave masters looked at slaves as sub-human cattle. Are we reaching or is this assertion based in hard truths?

[video] E:60 – Marshawn Lynch: Beast Mode

Why didn’t they just give this man the damn ball? Pete Carol made the dumbest mistake in NFL history by not giving Beast Mode the ball but either way Marshawn Lynch won.

They call him “Beast Mode” because with the ball in his hands, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is fierce and determined. In an exclusive interview, Lynch discusses how the violent streets of Oakland shaped him.

What Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman Teach Us About Respectability & Black Masculinity

Screen Shot 2015-02-03 at 2.17.24 PM

Props to RBOYLORN for writing such a poignant article on these two brothers who have bucked the system, stayed true to themselves, and still making millions in the process. Also the fact that golden boy Russell Wilson was given the chance to be the hero, in spite of Beast Mode proving he was unstoppable the whole game and especially the play before, shows that they didn’t want Marshawn to be the hero of the Superbowl. Sadly this strategy backfired and will haunt Pete Carol and his off. coordinator forever.

Like 114.5 million other folk, I was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday night, the most watched show in U.S. TV history (shouts out to Missy Elliott’s halftime performance, yes gawd!). As a Carolina Panther fan I was not terribly invested in the outcome, but I was low key rooting for the Seahawks because I regularly root for the underdog and I live for the badassery of Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch. The badassery I speak of is not limited to their on the field athletic prowess (Sherman is a cornerback who attended Stanford, and Lynch is a running back who went to UC-Berkeley), but rather their off the field badassness. Both men are 20-something athletes whose unapologetic performances of black masculinity and resistance have left mainstream media perplexed and exasperated. Both men’s gender presentations fuel the stereotypic imaginations of folk who find black men intimidating and terrifying, while wielding enough charm and cockiness to make them fascinating and mysterious. With dark-skin, tattoos, and dreadlocks, both men simultaneously trouble race and gender politics by participating in a system that profits from them (and their bodies), while profiting them (and making them millionaires). They are assumed to be pawns but have proven to be more clever than onlookers originally thought. Both men have successfully flipped the script on notions of one-dimensional black masculinity and what respectability, in the context of black masculinity, looks like.

Kenny Smith Writes Open Letter to ‘Scumbag’ Charles Barkley #FUCKCHUCK

Screen Shot 2014-12-04 at 8.07.24 AM

Kenny who I have watched for years on TNT speaks eloquently to Charles Barkley about his idiotic and reprehensible comments on recent racial issues concerning the black community and an out of control police force. All I can say is #FUCKCHUCK

Dear Chuck,

I hope this finds you in the way I always see you, in great spirits, with great joy and full of life. There are some things I want to openly say to you that sometimes in conversation get lost.

Firstly I lied!  You ARE the greatest Power Forward of all time. It’s not (Tim) Duncan or (Karl) Malone, they had size and height that you weren’t blessed with and you never had near the talent around you that they were blessed to have. Contrarily you took your teams to similar heights. Secondly, you are a champion in my book. Effort and determination is what makes a champion, not a ring.

[video] Janay Rice Speaks To Matt Lauer about Ray Rice, Domestic Violence, and Knock Out Video

Janay Rice along with her mother speak out about the Ray Rice domestic violence incident that made worldwide news when TMZ released footage from the elevator in which brutally attacked her and knocked her unconscious. She also speaks on Roger Goodell and whether or not he spoke the truth or lied to the arbitrator when he says Ray Rice was not forthcoming about what happened in the elevator.

St. Louis Police Officers Assoc. Want Punishment for St. Louis Rams ‘Don’t Shoot’ Protest

As long as you are running, catching and being brutally hit in a NFL game, you are obviously okay with most of the baby boomers in white America. As soon as you speak out against historical injustice against blacks perpetrated by an out control police force (who are ready to put a nightstick to anybody’s head these days) you become a target. Bravo to these brothers Stedman Bailey, Jarred Cook, and Kenny Britt who took a stand. I am posting the SLPOA full statement below:

via ksdk
“St. Louis, Missouri (November 30, 2014) – The St. Louis Police Officers Association is profoundly disappointed with the members of the St. Louis Rams football team who chose to ignore the mountains of evidence released from the St. Louis County Grand Jury this week and engage in a display that police officers around the nation found tasteless, offensive and inflammatory.

[video] Stephen A. Smith Slams NFL for Colin Kaepernick Being Fined For Using ‘N-Word’

I have a love/hate relationship with Stephen A. Smith, with that being said, when he is hitting on all cylinders with his commentary on real issues in the sports world, I give him the proper credit he deserves and today happens to be one of those days. Here he speaks on Colin Kaepernick being fine for allegedly using the n-word during a game.

[video] TMZ Releases Ray Rice Knock-out Punch of His Wife

Not a great day to be Ray Rice after this shocking video is unearthed by the hounds at TMZ.

From TMZ

This is what a two game suspension looks like — Ray Rice delivering a vicious punch to his fiancee’s face, knocking her out cold … and TMZ Sports has the shocking video.

We’ve already shown you the aftermath outside the elevator … Rice dragging the unconscious woman on the floor. But we’ve now obtained video of the punch that put her down, raising the question … What was the NFL thinking when it wrist-slapped Rice with such feeble punishment?

[video] Kid goes APE SH*T, when Dad tells him favorite football player STEVE SMITH is Traded

Why are these kids so strung out on football already? The fact he hit his father twice shows with no repercussions, shows that something ain’t right in that household, I don’t care how cute people think this is.The video is originally titled “Gavin gets emotional about Steve Smith” let’s be realistic and strike the word emotional and replace it with violent.

Michael Sam’s Father Rejects His Homosexuality “I’m old school, I’m a man-and-a-woman type of guy.”

via NY Times
Last Tuesday, Michael Sam Sr. was at a Denny’s near his home outside Dallas to celebrate his birthday when his son sent him a text message.

Dad, I’m gay, he wrote.

The party stopped cold. “I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to Applebee’s to have drinks,” Sam Sr. said. “I don’t want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment.

“I’m old school,” he added. “I’m a man-and-a-woman type of guy.” As evidence, he pointed out that he had taken an older son to Mexico to lose his virginity.

[video] Mizzou Football Star Michael Sam Interview: Says ‘I’m Gay’

Never heard anything about this Michael Sam character.Still am confused as to why he must hoist his homosexuality onto the general public before he has played one down in the NFL.Seems like a private matter that should be kept private, instead of trying to gain acclaim for his choice of men over women. We will see how this effects his career and if this open the floodgates in professional sports and becomes a trend or just a blip on the screen.

via NY Times

Coaches at the University of Missouri divided players into small groups at a preseason football practice last year for a team-building exercise. One by one, players were asked to talk about themselves — where they grew up, why they chose Missouri and what others might not know about them.

As Michael Sam, a defensive lineman, began to speak, he balled up a piece of paper in his hands. “I’m gay,” he said. With that, Mr. Sam set himself on a path to become the first publicly gay player in the National Football League.

[video] Fans Smashing Each Other With Beer Bottles During Fight After Cowboys Vs Chargers Game!

Four obvious things of note in this fight after the Cowboys and Chargers game which will most likely be going viral.

The first slap was actually thrown by a woman (who is lucky she did not get her ass kicked in the process).

The big white guy took a bottle to the head and it did nothing.

The smaller guy took a bottle to the head and looks like he was seriously injured.

The guy whose arm caught a tiny flying piece of glass, needed wipe off the blood and stop being ‘so dramatic’ like the guy who filmed all of this said correctly in the video.

Lastly it is safe to assume that alcohol played a major role in this incident.

[pic] Raiders Defensive Tackle Desmond Bryant takes WORST Mugshot of All Time

Screen Shot 2013-02-26 at 5.53.23 PM
Looks like he is ready to hurl a stomach full of liquor all over the precinct floor. Now it might be debatable that this is the worst mugshot of all time, but regardless this is a terrible look for prospective teams to consider to have this guy on their team.

via Bleacher Report

The details behind Bryant’s arrest are a little fuzzy, so we don’t know if this is the adorable face of the extremely inebriated, the mug of someone trying to be funny or a picture of someone who doesn’t know how to smile.

[video] adidas Training & RGIII | “Blow Up” — All In For Week 1

Dope commercial from one of the young stars of the NFL, Washington Redskins quarterback RGIII.  From reading the comments read on youtube, numerous people have indicated the Dark Knight heavily influences this commercial with which I wholeheartedly agree. Robert has kinda walked back in recent tweets that he will not sacrifice his career on a whole just to be ready for week one of next season after tearing his acl in the playoffs. I say he was just he was downplaying expectations but that he has internally made this his ultimate goal.

[video] RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A RACIST

Source: Brave New Films

Professional sports has always stood as an institution that brings Americans together. Now Rush Limbaugh, who has built a career out of dividing people from one another through racist, sexist, and homophobic demagoguery, is trying to buy an NFL football team.

Limbaugh has poisoned American political discourse and he will bring his venom to professional athletics as well. Sign our petition asking the NFL to tell Rush his bigotry isn’t welcome in American sports.

Yours,
Robert Greenwald
