Currently the biggest story in the sports world. Lavar continues to be a disruptor in how things are done in professional sports.
After months of speculation, Big Baller Brand is officially putting to rest any remaining rumors about the company’s highly anticipated next move. Lonzo Ball will become the first player to have his own independently made signature shoe entering the NBA Draft. In the video above, Lonzo explains his decision.
MJ speaks to the Undefeated about the spate of shootings of black men and police officers. His full statement below:
“As a proud American, a father who lost his own dad in a senseless act of violence, and a black man, I have been deeply troubled by the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement and angered by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers. I grieve with the families who have lost loved ones, as I know their pain all too well.
If you’ve been sneaker shopping in the past few months, you may have noticed something out of the ordinary: Air Jordan Retros are sitting in stores.
This may seem like a normal thing for the casual footwear consumer, but it’s odd for any sneaker with a Jumpman logo on it. In the past, nearly every re-released Air Jordan has been met with people lining up outside of stores and mass fanfare on Saturday mornings when Nike officially sells the product online. But that’s been dying down and at an alarming rate.
Only true sneakerheads will notice the subtle differences.
For many years, the sneaker market has been awash with replicas, or more commonly referred to as “fakes.” It has been increasingly difficult to distinguish what is real and what is not to even the most discerning eye with how good replicas have come to be. The last decade gave us some of the most highly-anticipated sneaker releases, with people of all ages queuing up day and night for a chance to purchase their desired item of footwear. This also led to an influx of unofficial productions of sneakers to cater for the market that is there for them. While the quality of these replicas has greatly increased and granted there are those who do not mind the differences, being able to tell what is authentic is one of the hardest skills a sneakerhead must learn. Some experts from the industry have taken it upon themselves to try their hand at determining an authentic pair of sneakers. Without further ado, we present the HBTV sneakers legit check.
Kanye West debuted his Adidas Originals collection last week in Manhattan, and the reviews have been decidedly mixed. But the rapper-designer’s harshest critic could be New York Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis. “I’m kind of over Kanye,” she recently told Page Six. “I mean, I’m not a fan of his music, and the attitude and the agenda is not my style.” Now West has responded to Mallis’ criticisms via Twitter – using a zen-like tone.
Basketball God Lebron “King’ James discusses his plans for Hollywood domination off the court and whether or not he has the golden touch when it comes to pushing his brand to new heights once his playing career is over.
This story first appeared in the Feb. 20 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
With $42 million a year in endorsements alone and 18.7 million Twitter followers, the NBA star — and most powerful brand in sports — opens up for the first time about his plan to convert his heat into a Hollywood empire: “I’m going to take full advantage of it while I can.”
The debate on these will rage on for a few weeks maybe longer. Don’t know about a price point yet but it well surely rise in resale because its Kanye. Hypebeasts are drooling at the mouth either way.
Spike speaks on race in America, social media’s role in uprisings across the world, and his thoughts on police brutality.
Director Spike Lee on race in America: “If you’re African-American in this country, you know what the deal is.” Fusion’s Jorge Ramos spoke to Lee about his latest documentary “I Can’t Breathe,” problems with the NYPD, race in America and the impact of social media on his projects. What do you think?
Lebron has some stiff competition in his road to being the first billionaire athlete after Forbes reported that global superstar Michael Jordan has now reached the billionaire boys club and his now former his teammate Shaquille O’ Neal is on pace as well.
After being pretty much a nonexistent voice concerning issues in Black America, Michael Jordan finally comes out and makes a bold statement against Donald Sterling.
“I look at this from two perspectives – as a current owner and a former player. As an owner, I’m obviously disgusted that a fellow team owner could hold such sickening and offensive views. I’m confident that Adam Silver will make a full investigation and take appropriate action quickly. As a former player, I’m completely outraged. There is no room in the NBA – or anywhere else – for the kind of racism and hatred that Mr. Sterling allegedly expressed…. In a league where the majority of players are African-American, we cannot and must not tolerate discrimination at any level.”
The cheapest man on earth (according to Charles Barkely) Michael Jordan, who sits atop the sneaker world along with Nike designer Tinker Hatfield announce XX9. These drop in the fall.
According to Nike, the latest design is the first of its kind. The Air Jordan XX9 features “an evolved Flight Plate coupled with the first-ever performance-woven upper.” The upper “provides structure, support, interior comfort and exterior abrasion resistance.”
What does that mean? The shoes were designed to fit each foot for maximum comfort.
Hit the jump for promo shots and a video by Tinker explaining why they think this new shoe is revolutionary in the sneaker biz.
according to Nike’s Launch Calendar, both sneakers will drop on Nike Store at 8 a.m. EST on their respective date.May 31 for the LeBron and June 7 for the KD
Still trying to understand the Black History tie-in outside of them just promoting the same stars already under contract. Would be great if they could actually honored non-traditional Black History Heroesinstead of just heaping more praise on Lebron, KD, and Melo. They say the proceeds will be given to charity though it seems to be scant on details. Here is what their press release states:
One hundred percent of net proceeds (up to $1 million) generated by the 2014 BHM Collection during the month of February will go to the new NIKE Ever Higher Fund, a donor advised fund administered by Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America), a national 501(c)3 public charity.
Drake drops some pics of his new shoe line with Brand Jordan on Instagram. He calls these “OVO Stingray 10’s Sample Pack”. No further information on these and I guess we should be getting more details soon. Wonder what Kanye thinks of these. Hit the cut to see another shot. Continue reading →
The craziest thing about this story is that guy who the permit to carry the gun still stood in line after killing the perpetrator. No sympathy for the victim he pretty much asked for it and got what he deserved.
If this goes viral, which I think it will, the chatter for him to enter the slam dunk with be deafening. Watch the whole video to see this amazing display of dunking power from King James. As accurately noted by the folks at Buzzfeed, when you are filming something please turn your phone sidewayz.
Seemed like a piece of cake to me. This will probably just add fuel to the rumors of Jordan supposedly coming back at age 50 to play in the NBA.Would be wonderful sight to see but I doubt it would happen.
What makes Playmates the hottest women in the Universe? Is it the shoes? Miss August 2010 Francesca Frigo puts a Playboy spin on the classic Nike commercial starring Mars Blackmon and Michael Jordan.

Kanye West teases with a look at the Nike Air Yeezy II, a design that will surely see a release sometime down the line. Looking a bit less flashy than the previous model, the kicks sport a leather upper with off-white midsoles, textured paneling and glow-in-the-dark outsoles, matching a colorway similar to the original Grammy-worn Air Yeezy. Stay tuned for further new and closer looks in the coming weeks.
Once again turning to an icon of Nike’s design heritage, Nike Sportswear takes the Nike Dunk and puts it in the hands of one of the music industry’s most innovative creators of sound, ?uestlove. Releasing on March 4, two Nike Dunks will hit the shelves as a pair of unlikely twins bearing a unique look that is arguably the first of its kind.
Attention sneakerheads, I know you guys mouths are watering over these joints but you got six months before these drop.

Sitting as a highlight amongst next year’s releases from Jordan Brand is this new colorway of the 6-17-23 model. The hybrid is boldly colored in a carmine red, black, and white, and is finished off with grey detailing. The boot also features key design elements drawn from both the Jordan VI and XVII models (adding together to make 23, hence the name). Fans can expect to see the 6-17-23 on August 1st of next year, priced at $145 USD.
They took a needed shot at the BP oil spill that has still not been fully addressed by its CEO and our government to let us know how much damage there really was. Good shit but don’t know about the ‘coon’ stuff.
Nike releases a new pair of Dunk Highs reminiscent of an original Be True colourway. Sporting an all-suede upper, the shoes come in a gold dart/black colourway, black midsole and white sole.

Full of pleasant surprises, the 2010 Holiday season continues its intrigue as Jordan Brand announces the official retro if its Black/Altitude Green XIII model, the first since the sneaker’s original release in 2005. Slightly changed for 2010 (arguably for the better),
I just love how Lebron is facing all his critics head on. The shot at Charles Barkley is going to drive ‘Chuck’ crazy.
This isn’t about what LeBron James has done, or hasn’t done. This is about the difference between the expectations others may have of him versus the expectations he has of himself. What should he do? The answer is a question. SOURCE:
These guys are not playing and it really looks like we will have these sooner than later. Nike has something up their sleeves as well just dont know if they have had any contact or discussions with these guys. Anyway this is just plain dope.
Help me get these onto shelves! http://www.Power-Laces.com After the popularity of the first version, I upgraded the Power Laces prototype to show what could be accomplished with proper funding. The Nike Sportswear Air Force 1 Bespoke offering has largely been reserved for those with media ties and deep pockets. With a price-tag nearing $900 USD a pair, it comes as no surprise the rarity of the experience. A man who knows a thing or two about sneakers, Gary Warnett of Crooked Tongues had the opportunity to make his mark.
Nike introduces its latest quickstrike pack designed by the famous DJ Clark Kent. Clark Kent, as most know, is a longtime Air Force 1 connoisseur, having helped Nike revitalize the Air Force 1 in recent times. The Brooklyn Edition Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme is arguably one of the nicer designs featured within the “Five Boroughs” pack, which contains 5 different versions of the classic Nike kicks, each representing the five boroughs of New York City. These are now available in a limited run through Osneaker.
Arguably one of the brand’s most successful team models, the Pro Strong sees a retro release this year as Jordan Brand previews a selection of colorways for Summer as well as Fall/Winter. Long known as the signature design for former NBA star Vin Baker, the kicks take on a bulky look, built for the premier power player in the late 90s.
