[video] Owner Suing After NYPD Officer Fatally Shoots Beloved Dog At Point Blank Range!

Of course the NYPD are a trigger happy bunch and will shoot without provocation at the drop of a hair, but I don’t think she will win in a court of law. Her not properly restraining her dog (a pit bull) before she opened the door will probably sink her case dead in the water.

A grieving dog owner in the Bronx is now planning to sue the NYPD after an officer shot and killed her beloved dog. The deadly encounter was caught on camera in the Belmont section. The dog’s owner opened the door after hearing police in the hall. When the pit bull walked towards an officer, wagging its tail, the officer shot it in the head at point blank range. The owner, Yvonne Rosado, is suing the department and the city. The NYPD says it’s investigating the incident.

[video] Dog Meat Festival in Southern China: VICE Reports

Warning this is not for the squeamish or those passionate about dogs.

Southern China has always had a tradition of dining on dogs—people from other parts of the country even joke that Southerners will eat anything with legs but the dinner table. But despite becoming more prosperous in the 1990s, Yulin has maintained the unique tradition of holding a canine banquet every summer.

[video] Dining on Dogs: VICE Reports (Trailer)

Animal activists are gonna freak out when this dops.

Southern China has always had a tradition of dining on dogs—people from other parts of the country even joke that Southerners will eat anything with legs but the dinner table. But despite becoming more prosperous in the 1990s, Yulin has maintained the unique tradition of holding a canine banquet every summer.

Animal rights activists across China and the rest of the globe have increasingly condemned the Dog Meat Festival, calling for an immediate stop to eating man’s best friend. They say the dog meat trade is illegal, unregulated, and cruel. Many claim that numerous dogs that end up in cooking pots are stolen pets or diseased strays.

In 2013, the Yulin festival gathered so much negative press that this year, the local government denied the Summer Solstice dog-eating tradition ever even existed. But that hasn’t stopped locals from celebrating—nor has it stopped die-hard activists from flooding the town to try and rescue dogs before the slaughter.

VICE Reports headed to Yulin this year to get to the bottom of the most controversial festival in China.

AP: Michael Vick re-signs with Nike

This is definitely something that I did not think would happen ever again. Kudos to Nike for allowing this man a chance to get his life and career back after such a spectacular fall. Above we have the Nike Gridiron- Michael Vick Experience which was a popular commercial when Vick was the corporate darling of the NFL.

Associated Press

NEW YORK — Michael Vick is back with Nike two years after the company severed ties over the quarterback’s involvement in a dogfighting ring.

“Mike has a long-standing, great relationship with Nike, and he looks forward to continuing that relationship,” his agent, Joel Segal, said Wednesday.

Segal would not reveal terms of the agreement. Nike declined a request for comment.

The deal was announced during a panel discussion at the Sports Sponsorship Symposium by Michael Principe, the managing director of BEST, the agency that represents Vick.

Shocking: Hatchery Horrors’: Undercover Video Captures Chicks Being Ground Up Alive (Video)

I am officially a vegetarian at heart. Please do not watch this if you have a weak stomach.

AP: The video, shot with a hidden camera and microphone by a Mercy for Animals employee who got a job at the plant, shows a Hy-Line worker sorting through a conveyor belt of chirping chicks, flipping some of them into a chute like a poker dealer flips cards.

Michael Vick in Talks to Become PETA Spokesman

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Michael Vick is in talks to become the new spokesman for PETA.

Yes, you read that correctly. The disgraced one-time NFL superstar serving prison time for funding an illegal dog-fighting ring is primed to do public-service ads for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals upon his release later this month. According to three people with knowledge of the matter, the proposed endorsement is part of a comprehensive PR scheme aimed at rehabilitating the quarterback’s image and gaining him readmission to the league that banned him from playing.

“I’m familiar with [the plan],” said Dan Shannon, director of youth outreach and campaigns for PETA. “We have been in discussions with Michael Vick, with his management team, about the possibility of him putting out a public-service announcement with PETA when he’s out of jail. We want him to discourage people from taking part in dog-fighting. I can do it until I’m blue in the face and it might not convince anybody. Michael Vick sure can. He can say, ‘Look, I did it, I was wrong, and it ruined my career.'” Continue reading

Khloe Kardashian takes it off for PETA

via NY Daily News

PETA must have finally run out of actual celebrities to pose naked in their anti-fur ads. amd_peta_khloekardashian1

The animal rights group is now turning to D-list reality stars to support their cause, recruiting Khloe Kardashian for their latest nude pictorial.

Khloe, who stars with her inexplicably famous sister Kim on E!’s “Keeping Up With The Kardashians“, had doffed her duds to raise awareness about the gruesome fur industry.

The buxom brunette says she had no idea how horribly animals were treated until PETA showed her video footage of the abuse.

“The videos are so graphic but they are so necessary for people to watch,” Kardashian says. “I’m so grateful that I did get the opportunity to see them. I had no idea that’s how these animals are treated.”

The reality starlet also insists that she and her famous family won’t be sporting animal pelts anytime soon.

Well, that’s one worry you can cross off your list.

For $1 Million PETA Challenges Scientist To Clone Meat In Mass

Murder Burger? PETA says NO

In response to the scientific communities announcement that they have cracked the code and perfected the method of “cloning” with in vitro cells, PETA has challenged the first scientist to come up a method to clone meat in quantity. The winner of the contest will receive $1 million dollars. PETA hopes to compete with the meat industry, that they estimate kills upwards to a million chickens a hour in the U.S. by producing enough meat to sell in 10 states at competitive prices. Annually “40 billion chickens, fish, pigs and cows are killed” for U.S. food consumption, according to PETA. With the advent of the cloned meat, PETA aims to save these animals lives and present a clear alternative to the fatty deposits and greenhouse-house emissions that is associated with transporting and caring for the animals set to be slaughtered, inhumanely nonetheless.

“Many people are stunned to hear that PETA is interested in lab-grown meat, but it’s clear that we must overcome our own revulsion at flesh-eating to achieve a kinder world,” says PETA co-founder Ingrid E. Newkirk. “One million dollars might seem like a lot of money, but it’s a small price to pay for something that has the potential to save about 1 million lives every hour.”
