Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai has reiterated that his company will not be lowering the price on PS3 hardware this holiday season, despite price pressure from the competition.
While some analysts believe that Sony is running the risk of losing too much ground this holiday if they don’t cut the price on PlayStation 3, Sony has maintained all along that their primary focus for now is on profitability. The cheapest Xbox 360 (Arcade SKU at $199) is 200 dollars cheaper than the PS3 at $399, but Kaz Hirai, president and group chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment, has once again insisted that PS3 pricing will not change this year.
“The answer is yes, if you’re asking, ‘Are these the prices we’re going with this Christmas?'” he told the Financial Times.
Hirai continued by saying that although the PS3 is still more expensive than the other consoles on the market, it offers a better value for consumers because of its inclusion of the hard drive as standard and its Blu-ray drive. “When you really compare apples to apples, then I think we have a very good value proposition,” he said. Check out these wiimotes that have been pimped by fanboys and given features that surely take wireless gaming to another level. I wonder which of these will make it into mass production. The guys over at NINTENDOWIIFANBOY did a great job with this post and have two more wii models here..
It’s so bad, it’s good
Who can forget the Power Glove? Not us, and certainly not the Japanese hacker responsible for this functioning Power Glove/Wiimote hybrid.
What is the sound of one hand gaming?
This mod allows an individual to play Wii with only one hand. Created by Ryan Culy for a friend with a majority of his left arm missing, this mod is one of the feel good stories of this year.
Wiimote mod busts caps
This mod has a gutted Wiimote crammed into a metallic gun shell, complete with working trigger. For those that don't dig on Nintendo's Zapper and want something a bit more hefty and lifelike while they blast zombies in the face in House of the Dead, this might be the mod for you.

Google just announced its odd Google Media Server, a Windows app that finds photos, music, and video and makes it available to DLNA devices like the PlayStation 3, XBox 360, and most Media Center PCs.
Google Media Server is a Windows application that aims to bridge the gap between Google and your TV. It uses Google Desktop technology such as Desktop gadgets for the administration tool and Google Desktop Search to locate media files. All you need is a PC running Google Desktop and a UPnP-enabled device (e.g. a PlayStation 3). At the touch of a button, you can then:* Access videos, music, and photos stored on your PC* View Picasa Web Albums* Play your favorite YouTube videos
With the all the hype about PS3 outselling the Wii this year, Clearvision aims to capitalize by releasing this clip on screen for all you mod. I kinda like the design though engadget’s Darren Murph thinks that:
” Sony’s PlayStation 3 just doesn’t lend itself to being the perfect candidate the way Nintendo’s Wii does.
Who knows, maybe it’s that curvaceous design or something. Anyway, Clearvision is hoping that you don’t much care how unsightly your console becomes when strapping its PS3 gaming monitor on, which adds a 7-inch LCD, a pair of speakers and little else. Unfortunately for those actually interested in picking one up, it seems you’ll have to put in an inquiry with one Shenzhen Madcow Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Good luck with that.
This has definitely been a busy week for RZA! In addition to announcing the creation of Wuchess.com and releasing a video for “The Heart Gently Weeps” sans the rest of the Wu (excluding GZA), news has also emerged that RZA will also be handling the soundtrack to the Afro Samaurai‘s video game release. The Samuel Jackson voiced game will be debuting on Xbox and Playstation 3 sometime this fall, stay tuned! Below is the trailer for the highly anticipated videogame version of the hit cartoon.
Developers have just introduced the world’s first 3D social virtual world via a platform called “Socio-Life.” Improving on where other social virtual world’s like “Second Life” left off, the new technology is fully integrated with plug-ins and cutting-edge graphics that leave it on par with Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 game consoles. Its 3D factor gives it a feel that is comparable to the world’s hottest video game console, the Nintendo Wii. Now that the industry of Virtual Worlds have spawned into a billion dollar business, Socio Town, which is operating in its beta form looks to capture the lion share of the market.
From master builder Ben Heck:
Ben builds his new game systems by taking apart old video game consoles such as the Atari 2600, or the NES and cutting up the internal printed circuit board (PCB) until it can fit in his hand. He then designs a custom case, which is cut on a CNC machine, to enclose the now-handheld device. His creations have been featured in such publications as Wired, Popular Science, and Maxim, and on G4tv shows such as The Screen Savers, Attack of the Show, and X-Play. They are also commonly presented on high popularity Blogs such as engadget.
Japan has created brain concentration and eye pills for the legions of serious gamers who are looking for a competitive edge. The pills are not yet slated to be released here, but this kinda sounds dangerous.
Gaming addicts with sore eyes and tired brains may be able to perk up with “Game Suppli”, a new Japanese supplement developed specifically for the country’s thousands of fanatic players.
“We concentrated on developing a supplement for those who love games,” reads the advert for the pills on http://www.cybergadget.co.jp, a Web site that sells a range of accessories for video game fans.
Maker Kyowa-Yakuhin produces two different supplements for the “Game Suppli” range: blueberry tablets that are meant to be good for the eyes, and transparent capsules containing Docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, a fatty acid that supposedly enhances concentration. Japan’s convenience stores are stacked with drinks and capsules claiming various health and beauty benefits, sometimes without any scientific evidence.

Confirmed: Mario Kart Wii Releasing on April 27th
Recently Nintendo of America has confirmed the release date of Mario Kart Wii as being April 27th… just a mere 16 days after the European release.
CVG has some information on why the release dates are so staggered…
Previously Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime cited the reason for a staggered release schedule on a disc duplication issue, claiming that it would be unfeasible to produce enough discs to meet international demand.
The same production problem is what’s keeping Nintendo from confirming an SSBB release for Europe… so with this same staggered logic.. should European gamers expect SSBB by the end of March, since it was released in the U.S. at the beginning of the month?
So, should Europe be seeing Brawl shortly all powerful Nintendo?
DEALERSHIP USES WII TO SELL CARS

Heck, we can’t think of a smarter way to market your product. With the Wii being the hottest item on the planet, this is sure to bring some folks in, with the hopes that they’ll hit some homers and knock the price of their car down
