Germany Bans Red Bull After Finding Traces of Cocaine

The authorities in six German states have ordered retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola energy drinks after traces of cocaine were found in it.red_bull

The recall came after a sample analysis conducted in North-Rhine Westphalia found one litre of the drink contained 0.4 micrograms of the banned substance.

Officials said the cocaine levels were too low to pose a health threat but were not permitted in foodstuffs.

Red Bull said its cola was “harmless and marketable” in both the US and EU.

The company said coca leaf extracts were used worldwide as a natural flavoring, and that its own tests had found no traces of cocaine. Continue reading

Okay people I am am guilty myself of downing way too much of this caffeine drinks, but it is my sacrifice inorder to bring you the fastest growing blog in the Universe. Anyway, reports are surfacing that these energy drinks maybe causing teenagers to get down with a bunch behaviors sure to drive their parents up the wall. See for yourself :

New research suggests the drinks are associated with a health issue far more worrisome than the jittery effects of caffeine — risk taking.

In March, The Journal of American College Health published a report on the link between energy drinks, athletics and risky behavior. The study’s author, Kathleen Miller, an addiction researcher at the University of Buffalo, says it suggests that high consumption of energy drinks is associated with “toxic jock” behavior, a constellation of risky and aggressive behaviors including unprotected sex, substance abuse and violence.

Okay this right here is definetly a no-brainer, an energy drink that utilizes a marketing plan that resembles a highly addictive drug like cocaine and is in powder form.

Now for all the flack given to gangsterism in rap music [as noted in the A.Keys post] this has to be one of the worst campaigns and if this is not taken off the shelves, I do not want to hear one word about gangsta rap anymore from any of you. Energy drinks are one thing, but a table filled with white powder is another.
