Time Person Of The Year 2010: Mark Zuckerberg

This is kinda of a no brainer even though there are a host of people who are worthy of this title. No matter your thoughts on the matter, Facebook has become apart of the majority of our everyday lives. Whether it is keeping in touch with friends, or promoting and connecting with people with similar ideas, Facebook has become the tool that people use and will continue to use into the near future. Privacy issues aside people are using the social connector and growth in the U.S. alone has doubled this year. I have my own personal choice for Person of The Year but below is Time’s justification for picking Mark Zuckerberg.

via Time Magazine

In less than seven years, Zuckerberg wired together a twelfth of humanity into a single network, thereby creating a social entity almost twice as large as the U.S. If Facebook were a country it would be the third largest, behind only China and India. It started out as a lark, a diversion, but it has turned into something real, something that has changed the way human beings relate to one another on a species-wide scale.

Facebook CEO Donates $100 million to Newark’s Troubled School System

Wow. What a way to steal the thunder from the soon to be released movie The Social Network, in which reviewers claim it paints him as a total asshole. I don’t care if he is trying to save his image giving $100 million to the very needy Newark school system is a great move when most of these dudes give their money to some unheard of foundation.

Much Kudos to Mark and I hear the official announcement will be on Oprah tomorrow. And a tremendous shout-out goes to Mayor Corey Booker who is the mastermind behind this and should be our next President once President Obama finishes his two terms.

via Huff Post

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will donate $100 million to help Newark public schools, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal writes,

Mr. Zuckerberg is setting up a foundation with $100 million of Facebook stock to be used to improve education in America, with the primary goal of helping Newark. The donation has the potential to be matched by another $100 million that Newark’s mayor, Cory Booker, has been working on raising from private foundations and others. […]

The $200 million that could be raised would amount to over 20% of Newark’s budget of $940 million.

The Anix – Enemy Eyes Official Music Video

We filmed this entire video using only one iphone 4, literally minutes after taking it out of the box. All we had were tri-pods that we would tape the phone to or anything we could use to keep the phone steady. The song was recorded using Logic 9, on a MacBook Pro i7. As a disclaimer, this was my first attempt at editing/shooting a video, so if it looks like I have no clue what I am doing, you are right.

Microsoft debuts ‘Kinect’ controller-free gaming system

No doubt about it, this is defintely a Wii-killer.

via Huff Post

Microsoft took the wraps off of Microsoft Kinect (formerly known by its code name, “Project Natal”), its highly-anticipated controller-free gaming system for Xbox.

Forget memorizing button sequences, drop the joystick, and put down the Wiimote: Microsoft Kinect, which can “recognize faces, obey voice commands, and track body movements,” according to the LA Times, will enable users to control their video game avatars just by moving their bodies in front of the Kinect (see video below). Kinect users will also be able to control movies just by speaking commands, such as “play” or “pause.”

Myspace get a life. You should be more worried that your site is on the brink on being in the dustbin of social media. Anway hit the jump inorder to see what has the Myspace brass panties in a bunch:

via Huff Post

CoCo, a former Playboy model now married to Ice-T, was dismayed to find that photo of herself she posted to her MySpace page was later removed by the site (see the NSFW picture below).

CoCo tweeted her outrage:

http://twitpic.com/15aa50 – Why did myspace take this pic down. Are they offended by ass-crack?Its female curvature!

It’s not clear why MySpace took issue with the photo–as Dlisted points out, MySpace has no shortage of ‘pictures of tweens in their training bras.’ Moreover, far racier images abound on CoCo’s MySpace profile page. Full photo after the jump:
