The Game Says He’s ‘Rededicated To Hip-Hop’ On The R.E.D. Album’

via MTV

The Game’s new LP, The R.E.D. Album, was not inspired by him being a Blood. It’s not a clever play on words or some type of tip of the fitted cap to Jay-Z’s Black Album. Nah, the Compton native’s CD is all about him restarting his engine.the_game_rapper

“The R.E.D. Album, people think the R.E.D. stands for gangbanging. I am what I am. … R.E.D. — that’s rededicated. Rededicated to hip-hop … to my hood, Compton. Rededicated to my family, rededicated to everything.”

And yes, that rededication means the end of Game’s retirement talk. He says the album will be out in ’09 and he’s already been in the studio with Timbaland, J.R. Rotem, Drumma Boy and former Aftermath producer Mike Lynn. Cool and Dre are scheduled to come in on the album and Game also hopes to track Kanye West down for beats.

Will ‘The Game’ Get Another Inning or is this the Ending?

the_game via LA Times

This week, the third season of “The Game” (8:30 p.m. Fridays) will come to an end aiming to answer several questions. Will Derwin (Pooch Hall) and Melanie (Tia Mowry) finally get married, or will the baby he’s expecting with his ex Janay (Gabrielle Dennis) sabotage their plans? Will Malik (Hosea Chanchez) let his newfound family loyalties get in the way of his game on the field, and off? Will Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) finally find love with Rick Fox (playing himself)? Will Jason (Coby Bell) and Kelly (Brittany Daniel) acknowledge that their divorce was a mistake?

And most important, can “The Game” afford to have loose ends?

Later this month, the CW will announce whether it intends to renew the show, which follows the stars of the San Diego Sabers football team and their better halves, for a fourth season. Last month it was reported that, in an effort to save the show from cancellation, creator Mara Brock Akil was repitching it to the network as an hourlong dramedy, more in keeping with the CW’s new direction.

[video] Cali Rapper Jay Rock Arrested for Drive-By Shooting

Source: Thisis50

It seems that rapper Jay Rock has been arrested for suspicion to being involved in a drive-by shooting. Having just toured the country along with him and Nipsey Hussle on the LAX tour last month, I hope that this is some awful mistake and that he can return to being one of the rising stars of Hip Hop. No concrete details yet but we will keep you posted as information comes in.

As rumors that CW’s “THE GAME” will not be renewed for a fourth year spread across the blogosphere, its cast fights against the threat of cancellation with their “Change ‘The Game’ Campaign. On April 15, Mara Brock Akil, African American writer of the recently canceled “Girlfriends,”  is  proposing a format switch from a half hour sitcom to a hour long dramedy in hopes to save the show.

TVSeriesFinale.com wrote the following concerning The CW & “The Game:

In its first season, The Game averaged 2.3 million viewers each week. For season two, the ratings dropped to 2.07 million and a .96 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This season, CW execs have stranded the series in a little-watched Friday night timeslot. It’s fallen to an average of 1.68 million viewers and a tiny 0.7 rating in the demo.

Along with fellow sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, The Game hasn’t exactly been a ratings powerhouse. It looks very likely that Chris will be canceled in May but will have 88 episodes, enough for a syndication run that’s scheduled to start on Nick at Nite this Fall. In contrast, The Game will only have 64 episodes.

Many of today’s biggest rap stars have something in common besides successful careers: they’ve all been shot and have lived to rap about it. Their tales of gunplay, their reactions to the violence, and their changed attitudes after having survived near-death experiences are varied and always compelling.

NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET takes the viewer deep into the psyche of these incredibly talented artists, who share a common thread: the permanent physical scars from the bullets that almost took them out and the corresponding emotional scars that affect them in profound and personal ways.

[video] The GAME Breaks Down During Interview

Usually I would take a dude to task for being over-emotional on camera but I’m gonna let you be the judge. The GAME was discussing some things that’s obviously close to his heart and he let his emotions get the best of him. The topic of discussion was Sean Bell so rightfully emotions run high, especially when it centers around the lack of ‘testicular fortitude’ in Hip Hop these days. He says he feels he’s cut from a different clothe than the rest of these clowns in the game so ultimately he wants out. Smart decision homie, just don’t turn back.

The GAME Family Fueds Continue, Snuffs Relative at Funeral

via XXL

The Game has a tumultuous relationship with his family, and it looks like ain’t much changed. The Compton rapper got into an altercation with a cousin at the funeral service of another relative, according to TMZ. Prior to the service, family members were allegedly already upset with Game because he offered to pay for half of the funeral charges, but when it came time to collect the funds the rapper is believed to have switched his cell phone number. So he left others to bankroll the additional $7, 000. Robert Kirkwood, a relative of The Game, told the gossip Web site that the rapper then unexpectedly arrived at the funeral and afterward when the financing issue arose he punched his cousin. According to Kirkwood, who was punched in the face, police report has been filed. [TMZ]

Other tracks on the set include the Lil’ Wayne-assisted “My Life,” “Angel” with Common, “Camera Phone” and “A Thug and a Gentleman,” both featuring Ne-Yo, “Us Live” with Chrisette Michelle,” “Put Ya Hands Up” with Busta Rhymes and the promotional single “Dope Boys,” with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. The Game is on fire right now with his songs in heavy rotation and a new album on the horizon. Still can’t believe the cats over at MTV left him off the hottest MC list. Some of those cats should have been put on the hottest rappers list. Anyway check out this recent interview where he talks about a bunch rumors and if he is really suicidal. Associate Accuses Rev Al of Shaking Down Dr. Dre For Half-A-Mil

Sharpton Shakedown?

via HipHop DX

In an upcoming interview for HipHopDX with Dr. Dre’s former right hand man for over a decade, Bruce Williams, it was revealed that Rev Al Sharpton gave Dr. Dre and his Aftermath camp an ultimatum – Half a million to squash the 50 Cent/Game beef or they would march.

“He said if we didn’t have a million, we marching. It’s that easy,” Williams stated exclusively to HipHopDX. He also makes mention of the situation in his recently released book “Rollin With Dre.”

“We got a lot of black leaders that don’t do shit to me. I don’t see what they do,” he continues. “In the (Game/50) situation (Sharpton and company) are going to come and say ‘we need X amount of money’, whether you are going to give it to charity or not? Why don’t you come and say ‘hey, let’s all of us sit down and figure this out?’ Don’t come and say ‘give me a half a million dollars or we marching!’ That didn’t even get the situation resolved. You seen it. They didn’t even look like they squashed anything.”

Capitalizing on the trend that has become rapper’s making their own social-networks, West Coast representer The Game is creating, ThisIzGame.com, an obvious jack of Curtis Jackson’s own ThisIs50.com As we reported yesterday ThisIs50 is Ning’s most popular site on their do-it-yourself social network platform. The Game is gearing up to release his third album, LAX, due to land on store shelves June 24th. (As of presstime the site only had a frontpage up and there is no telling if this will be a social network or just a website to promo his upcoming project.)
