In December, 2014, VICE threw a massive rager for 3,000 of our closest friends at the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yards. VICE staged dozens of performances throughout the evening, bringing together musicians as varied as Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson to The Unicorns’ Nick Thorburn to Ghostface Killah and Lil’ Wayne, to perform some of the songs that have defined VICE over its twenty years. Hell, Jonah Hill even rapped Drake, backed by our very own Spike Jonze on guitar.

Southern China has always had a tradition of dining on dogs—people from other parts of the country even joke that Southerners will eat anything with legs but the dinner table. But despite becoming more prosperous in the 1990s, Yulin has maintained the unique tradition of holding a canine banquet every summer.
Animal rights activists across China and the rest of the globe have increasingly condemned the Dog Meat Festival, calling for an immediate stop to eating man’s best friend. They say the dog meat trade is illegal, unregulated, and cruel. Many claim that numerous dogs that end up in cooking pots are stolen pets or diseased strays.
In 2013, the Yulin festival gathered so much negative press that this year, the local government denied the Summer Solstice dog-eating tradition ever even existed. But that hasn’t stopped locals from celebrating—nor has it stopped die-hard activists from flooding the town to try and rescue dogs before the slaughter.

Jihn McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate.

DAYTON, Ohio (Reuters) – Republican John McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his surprise choice for running mate on Friday, adding a political unknown to the presidential ticket who could help him appeal to women voters.
Palin, 44, will appear with McCain later on Friday in a rally in Dayton, Ohio, as the Arizona senator grabs the political focus away from Democratic rival Barack Obama one day after Obama accepted his party’s presidential nomination.
“Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president,” McCain said in a statement announcing the choice.
“She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington,” the statement said.
