Some Hunger Game Fans wished the film was “Whites Only”

I enjoyed Hunger Games and since I didn’t read the book at the beginning of the film I hoped that I could find a few people that looked like me in this imagined future. I was pleased to find that some of the films key actors were black and the film was more diverse than I initially expected. I guess some people didn’t get the same joy out of that diversity.

President Obama spoke in highly personal terms on Friday about how the shooting in Florida of a 17-year-old black youth named Trayvon Martin had affected him, saying that “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

The comments by Mr. Obama were his first on the explosive case in which George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, has claimed self defense after shooting Mr. Martin several weeks ago. The case has generated outrage about the state’s so-called Stand Your Ground law.

I have criticized Nicki plenty based on her direction musically but I must say this is a huge deal for her and she gets props from me even though I don’t like any of her recent songs. Lil Wayne is just probably just scratching the surface of what he can earn from corporate America. More below:

Expect her bulging bank account to grow even more in 2012 following a massive deal she recently signed with Pepsi.

According to Derek Jackson, the Glu agency chief who brokered the agreement, Minaj will become the face of a new Pepsi beverage nearing its debut. He said the pact, which includes a commercial filmed in South America last month (pixely footage has already leaked on YouTube), is a multimillion-dollar deal.

“You’ll see the commercial probably in the next two months,” Jackson told me before Lil Wayne’s performance at South By Southwest. “That’ll be a segue into a new beverage Pepsi has, called ‘Pop,’ and she’ll be the face of the brand … it’s going to be explosive.”

A co-founder for Invisible Children was detained in Pacific Beach on Thursday for being drunk in public and masturbating, according to San Diego Police Department.
Jason Russell, 33, was allegedly found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to Lt. Andra Brown. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road.
Brown said Russell was acting very strange.
“Due to the nature of the detention, he was not arrested,” she said at a press conference. “During the evaluation we learned we probably needed to take him to a medical facility because of statements he was saying.”
Police said they received several calls Thursday at 11:30 a.m. of a man in various stages of undress, running through traffic and screaming.

Breathtaking doc about war criminal Joseph Kony. Take the time to watch people.

The goal of the film is to stop one of the world’s worst war criminals, Joseph Kony—leader of terrorist group, the LRA, in Uganda. Kony is responsible for mutilating innocent people and kidnapping children to be used as soldiers.

“The next 27 minutes are an experiment, but in order for it to work you have to pay attention,” Russell states in the beginning of the 30-minute film. “If we succeed, we change the course of human history…but time is running out.”
